Ninja 500 (EX 500) Carb Rebuild
Переглядів 18 тис.3 роки тому
This is not a how to video, its just me working on my motorcycle and making a video. Two things that I enjoy doing. If you are going to rebuild your carbs and are new to it, I suggest you buy a manual. On some of the more popular forums for EX500's this modification is called the Fog Mod. The hole size is 1". You do not have to use the filter I am using in the video. Simply drill a 1" hole and you're good to go. Mine sees a lot of dirt/sand so I used the filter. DO NOT GO BIGGER THAN 1"! Filters I used amzn.to/379MYco Link is an affiliate link. I apologize for it taking so long to get this video done. Life happened. My lens also fogged up during a lot of the filming due to humidity so there is not as much footage and what I do have is not of great quality. I got this bike running and sold it. La manguera amarilla q sacas del carburador es de descarga?
Geez sharpen that blunt stick you opened the box with. Oh, wait, its a harbour freight knife, never mind 😂
here learning how to do an oil change on my first bike, thanks
Hey I just bought my 2002 ninja 500 and I was wondering what did you put on the carb ducts? Is it grease? Also should I not put any gasket sealer on the float chamber gasket?
@@isaacsolorio7663 I use a silicone based lube made for brakes on the boots and the same on the float bowl gaskets. Don’t use any sealer. Vaseline also works well. I use it on the float bowl just to help keep the gasket in place.
@@wolfscrape okay big big thanks I got my kit coming in tomorrow so this is greatly appreciated 🙏🙏🙏
Did the air filter make a difference? Might order a hiflow but if I find a regular one in store by me should I just buy that
At 8:21, why does yours seem so shallow? Mine goes down in there
Lightly screw it all the way down then back it out 2.5 turns. Adjust from there as needed.
Thanks teacher
capital bra, is that you ?
that smile when it first started up is such a universal feeling. when a machine you manifested into reality just works. Euphoric.
I’ve watched this video dozens of times I absolutely love this bike
But how much oil? I've got conflicting information from 3 different manuals. I think it's 3.6 quarts if you also change the filter. And how should you check the window? When it's running? Because 3.6 quarts shows over the top line, I think..
Remove filter and drain oil. Line new filter with oil and fill a jug with 1 litre of oil. Pour oil from the jug into the filter so the oil sits just below where the thread will be as you turn it horizontally. Make sure the filter is tight. Fill the crankcase with the remainder of the litre from earlier than add 2 more litres. Run the engine for a minute and recheck the level after 5 minutes to allow the oil filter to fill with oil.
@@doomedbook1020 Thanks, dude. Appreciate the response.
I didn't read 'Zen and the art of motorcycle maintenance' but this video reminds me of the title. Nice work!
Guy has great hands. And clean, too!
Do you know what thread size are each jet?
never remove your 500 videos they are gold!
Was wondering if I could ask you a question about the drop seat that you have on your sporty chopper?
sure
@@wolfscrape you had a video up of a swing arm sportster with the drop seat attachment that you welded up. I was wondering if you sell those or sell the measurements so that someone could make them for them?
@@wolfscrape you had a video up of a swing arm sportster with the drop seat attachment that you welded up. I was wondering if you sell those or sell the measurements so that someone could make them for themselves?
@@_2Pety I may sell them at some point but do not currently. If I decide to do something with them I’ll make a video about it.
@@wolfscrape ok thank you very much. I hope you do. It looks like a great part to drop the seat on the sporty.
So cool
I like how you stopped leaning on the big steel wall while watchin the lightning.😜 Nice scoot...
What is that thing you removed from the airbox whats the name of it im missing that on mine
Made that look too easy!
Zen & the art of motorcycle building! No crap soundtrack and garage "antics". Watching this as I build a 1340 evo in a hallway in London uk, small world eh? Best wishes.
what was being sprayed at minute 3:00
break cleaner perhaps?
Carb cleaner
Love this build, what size wheels and tires are you running? Are they shinkos?
19 front and 16 rear. I forget the exact tire size and don’t have this bike anymore. Tc bros has them and they’re easy to spot.
I know this video is id 2 years old but for the black rubber lungs how do you put those back on I bought new ones and trying to see how to put on
The rubber boots that connect the carbs to air box? If they seem too small a heat gun works well
Thank you
hmm was expecting a chopper
And?
@@wolfscrape Well it's not a chopper it's a bobber
@@paulfrancis5728 ok
This deserves more likes awesome vid I gave u a follow keep it up
Open throttle full when chk cranking pressure.
Did you cut your front shock springs?
They were cut when I bought it. Not sure how much. It’s actually handled pretty well surprisingly
Love the padlock on the front axle
It's a good storage spot. There is no key on this bike so I use it to lock the neck when I'm out.
Hey man, can you give some info on that rear fender?
It's just a blank fender from tc bros that I cut. It's mounted to the swingarm which allows you to mount it really close to the tire.
oh my GOD thank you for filming this so well
yo en mi vulcan tiene solo media vuelta el tornillo de la riqueza de gasolina y el color de la bujia es el correcto
Thanks man, great video!
I would put two of those intake grommets each side jet it free up the exhaust, well I did you won't believe what that little motor can do.
FOG is gonna be pissed if he ever sees this 😂
Congrats! Sounds like a ripper, those bars look sweet with the narrow tank 🤩
Thanks Sally! Yea I’m happy with it. The bootlegger bars are great. A little more pullback would be nice, but they look good!
I love those bars! Sounds great
What does the other end of the tubing at 2:30 go to? Thanks!
It's just a vent tube from what I remember, usually just routes down out of the way somewhere. I don't have this bike anymore so I can't go look at it.
Very nice build! 👍
thank you, I appreciate it
That design looks so sick
Thank you. I appreciate that
I live in south florida. Where can I get a bike like this?
I made the rear frame section. It's a sportster at its core, but you can't just go buy one like it.
Seen a lot of people put the oil in, run the engine, then put more oil in
yea thats usually a good idea to make sure you don't overfill

I really appreciate that Adam. I’m happy with how it turned out. I’m getting it ready for a road trip now
Ok that’s it! I have to get to our land in Michigan. I keep saying I’m make the trip on my sportster. Seeing snd hearing you ride down that road…… thanks man.

Hi!! This is the sportster 88, from the previous videos? Nice work, really cool sportster (im a big fan of sportsters)!!! These videos are so relaxing!!
Hi Julio. No, this is a 91. I sold the 88 and got this one. This is the first year of the 5 speed transmission as the previous years were 4 speeds. Thank you for watching I really appreciate it. I just filmed an overview of this one today which will be up in the next couple of days.
@@wolfscrape thank s for the reply! Keep this content! Thanks for sharing this cool stuff.

I really appreciate you watching and commenting. I'm glad you like it. I'll have a riding video posted today.
That loctite looked awfully watery, did you shake it up? Just wondering. No shade.
Yea that whole tube has been that way. Nothing has fallen off yet though so it seems to be working! I may get the gel or stick next. What type do you use?
@@wolfscrape The same. That's so odd. Maybe it had been on the shelf for too long or something. Which is why I asked because I've never seen it do that before. But I'm glad it still held up for you. Hubby and I are working on my sportster as well. Just got it and it needs a bit of TLC before she's ready to go. Love the videos, best of luck to you!
