I lived in Bozo 1994-2016. Land prices went up in the late 90s when a bunch of outsiders (MANY from CA) came into the county and started buying up large acreage. Property tax went up steadily for years; a 4-bed ranch house was renting out $600-$1000/room. 2010-2015 was the worst for income/expenses. Cost of living kept going up. I had a nonprofit job ($20k/yr) and had to move into 'low-income' housing -- $600 for a 650 sq ft apartment. But the Yellowstone Club kept getting new residents, Moonlight Basin was going strong, and Bridger ski passes kept going up in price. Life was hard unless you made at least $45k/yr

@@Dr.Spatula - Only in a warm climate. In Minnesota, skitching is a (dumb and dangerous) way to have fun when the streets are icy and you and your friends are too young to drive.
@@pacificostudios Yeah, I live like an hour west. Skitching is still a very common term, even if you also use it in ice and snow. Tying sleds to ball hitches and shit too
@@Dr.Spatula - That's cool. I did this in the late 1970s, and it might have just been a term used in my neighborhood or town near Minneapolis. I didn't know.
Video was excellent but you had me hoping for a Hank Green Cameo
The funniest but was when South Dakota appeared😂😂
Love that I understood everything Montana said, cause I’ve got family there. That kinda stuff sounds strange to other people
I find that to the truth with pretty much every state.
Especially with the Rocky Mountain Oyster thing 🤣🤣🤣🤣
10/10 accuracy lol were pretty much Florida and Texas rolled into one weird ball. Throw some snow and Canada in the mix and you've got Montana
Yeah! More table!!
YESSS!!! I was 15-19 when the speed limit changed and I know exactly where Gopher Crotch is. ND vs MT = #accurate
Something that was left out is all the river floating we do. And the fact you can get buffalo burger just about everywhere.
Keep 'em coming Ben!
As a Montanan, I have been waiting for this video for ever! And the video is quite accurate to
Stevensville checking in. Can confirm this video is accurate
As a Montana resident I can't agree with this more
Finally! I've been asking for months, it was worth the wait for montana
i, a montanan, have been waiting for this for so long. this is wonderful.
That is such a Montana conversation.
As someone who has moved to montana from the southeast, not muched changed when i moved here, although i live in bozeman, so the possible housing crisis stuff hits a little close to home
I feel that! I grew up over the pass in Livingston. I had to move away because staying in the area was completely unaffordable.
@@KenZchameleon Also, on the Livingston side, both now and when I lived there, loads of people would get sooooo pissed off whenever someone suggested building apartment buildings. WTF are ordinary people supposed to live, then??
@@Chonkula Seriously! I have a friend from Livingston and she had to live there and commute to Bozo for ages before she could afford to live in town... and even then she needed a roommate.
I remember when the city council put the kibosh on any housing taller than 2 stories because it would 'ruin the view' of the other residents (campus housing doesn't count). And over by the hospital, where there's nothing, it wasn't even considered. I mean, I love seeing the M, but really??????
Very funny. That's coming from a life long native. Forgot about the open speed law or lack of. I live about 8 miles outside Missoula. There's about a 5+ mile straight stretch on I90 going into town. Had a 68 RT charger & a 86 IROC at the time. Was fun to open them up going to town. Hopefully more out of staters/ California will see this and stay in their state. Oh and winter is actually only about 6 months give or take.
As a Montana resident, been a long time coming. I love it
Maybe California should figure out why everybody is trying to leave...
-a Californian trying to leave.
Kind of disappointed that one of the oldest Shakespeare in the Parks (50 years) wasn't mentioned.
Montana is my new favorite.
but seriously, the housing crisis here due to out-of-staters moving in is no joke.... send help
OMG... Montana has to be adopted by Alaska as their little brother now! 🤣
I agree! Montanans are the only lower 48ers that Alaskans respect.
We are also the 3rd largest state in the US
Montana vibes with Florida, even managed to confuse him for bits here and there?? Hats off for you Monty.
if he wants to piss off Texas for the longest time Montana had more guns per person than Texas and still holds the crown in registered guns per person than any other state, and Montana lets you own tanks with still operational cannons for street driving but the gun has to be unloaded and locked in transport position when on highways or city roads but if you are on public county roads you can have the turret unlocked but still unloaded, on private roads you just cant shoot people
any extra weapons other than the cannon, cant be mounted when on public roads but private roads we don't care
I love that this video is our area code long. 🥰
I want to go to Montana now.
Remember afterwards to get lost lol
Montana is full. Sorry. Try North Dakota.
As long as you come here, spend money then leave.
Visit, then go away. Politely.
I live in Montana this is so perfect
As someone born and raised, 97% accuracy.
What’s the 3% difference?
@@sisi7304 no one mentioned a crick “creek to u other heathens” or buttes unions
@@dariangilman7835 ah, maybe time constraints limited that then?
@@dariangilman7835 in terms of what’s there, is anything not accurate tho?
@@sisi7304 we have too many people
Really wish Kentucky was a bigger part of these. Sooooo much stupid stuff happens in Kentucky that you could fill a years worth of videos with things that happens here in just a month. It would be even better if he channels the "blue people of Kentucky" and the "Hatfields and McCoys".
How's about Californians fix their own state before yall start telling us to accommodate for their leaving.
Also they were homeless there why can't they be homeless in Montana.
That is a joke I obviously know why.
I have been waiting to see Montana for so long by itself
As a Montanan who just moved to Florida, this makes me so incredibly happy
Montana should listen to Florida they know how to send people back to where they came from they can help with The Californians and get creative
Well Ben Brainard has spoken. And I am happy!
YEEESSSS MONTANA MADE IT LETS GOOOOO!!!!
P.s. I'm from Montana and still livin in it
I’ve heard of Rocky Mountain oysters, originally in a Vsause video of all things
We have a whole thing for Rocky Mountain Oysters in the Flathead Valley every year. It's called The Testicle Festival
As a Montanan I find it hilarious that Ben chose Eastern Montana slang. We all know what it means but it's just funny. Great job!
It's always about sending people back to California. There is a reason for that.
In my experience, Montanans drive what they consider reasonably and prudently here in Apple Picker territory anyway 😂
Didn’t expect FL and MT to become friends so easily!
I'm from MT why wouldn't we lol
I did. 🤣
we're both insane. I'd be suprised if we didn't get along with florida. we just dont like california.
Montana is just Florida but you replace the constant summer with constant snow
@Jace Dostal and replace the coke with meth...
We have the highest car related death rate in the country and I think the smallest population. Almost no city's u drive here and u will see our highways littered with white crosses. More often then not u will see them stacked in certain spots. And the worst part is most of those crashes r caused by out of staters and alot of times they take someone else out with them
This was hilarious 😂 keep up the good work Ben! 😊
Native montanan here.. can confirm this is very accurate 😆 we do have seasons.. pre winter, winter, second winter and construction.
"It's gonna be one of THOSE days."
Killing me over here! 😂🤣
It would have been so funny if you could have convinced Hank Green to play Montana,
Stay out California
Maaaan, even Montana's episode was more interesting than Indiana... and they barely have anyone to say anything about it!
Having lived in Nevada and currently living in Idaho, I LOVE the California hate!
Finally one on my state go griz
New state at the table!!!
You should have tried to colab with Hank Green for this.
