I’m going to try to use this to write my prospectus. I am having a hard time showing evidence that the problem exists and that may be because I write shorter sentences.

I don't think the length of sentences determines the quality or amount of evidence. If an advisor has commented there is a lack of evidence, I think he/she is referring to content, not style.

Speaking is the most effective way to communicate which is the primary goal of learning any language . Learners of any language must master the skill of speaking to be fluent speakers of the target language . Speaking fluently is challenged by numerous factors and one of them is self- confidence . Students with self low self - esteem face many difficulties . They are usually found to be extremely fearful and timid , so they move away from expressing their opinions .Some of them are even unable to utter a complete meaningful sentence in the class .In addition , they avoid taking the necessary risks to acquire the communicative competence in the target language . Consequently, this hinders the success of learners communicative performance. The purpose of this study is to examine the impact of self - esteem on enhancing learners' speaking skill .

No worries. A research question is a query that ends with a question mark. Examples: "What role does income play in the dropout rate of high school students in our community?" A problem statement is a sentence ending in a period: "“The high school dropout rate in our community has risen by 20% over the past two years, negatively impacting our future workforce."
