There are a plenty of youtube videos available on the internet that explained how to effectively read scientific journals, articles, and papers, but yours is really worth to me.
I've been in my PhD program for a year. I've read many articles and read articles about how to read articles. I've had professors make recommendations as well, but this is the most concise and detailed explanation. And has been helpful in improving my ability to screen articles quickly and effectively. I'm very grateful. New subscriber!
I have been reading journal articles word for word for three years now of my four year degree, and only now have I started feeling like the points you mentioned are really the only parts I needed to be reading. Thank you for confirming what I have started to feel now for the past good couple months or so 😄❤ My research time just got a whoooole lot more simple.
Mr. Taylor, thank you for your time and patience with developing your videos for us who feel overwhelmed. I feel like I can tackle a literature view with confidence. You have a special craft in breaking down complex challenges and stumbling blocks. Straight the point with no frills attached, thanks again.
Bravo Sir. In the throws of several years and classes of trying to write a literature review, and left unfinished to a last step to my degree, this video explained it better than all the help I have received. I'm more of an abstract writer: essays, lyrics, and phrases. Academic writing overwhelmed me with a mental block unable to break. But, thank God in answering a prayer to help my incomplete task with your video. I have viewed and subscribed your videos and channel previously, however this is it. The simplicity yet detail opened my mind to confidence in going back to drawing board to complete. Every student who is assigned a lit review, who is left without training or knowledge how to, needs to watch this video. Thank you and God bless+
Thank you so much, Mr. Taylor! This was so so helpful. I've been struggling so much and you made it so much easier to understand. I am writing an annotated bibliography and I have watched all of your videos to be able to understand the process. I am extremely grateful.
And my lecturer took 1hr whole class without telling what should i added in literature review... N u sir taught me the whole process in juz less than 10 mins .. god bless u
I have been worrying about the number of papers that I have to read and how to read them for my final year thesis, but with the explanations in this video I think my anxiety is over. Thanks David.
You are simply one of the best in articulating issues. I'm very grateful for these hints regarding summarizing journal research articles. As a student researcher I have really benefited. Keep up a good work Doc.
Very helpful video, thank you! I am a first year uni student and not used to reading vast amounts of academic literature. I believe this video will help me immensely.
Very concise summary, I however don't agree that we should or could skip the methods section (at least not at graduate level). I think it's important to understand how the results are achieved and conclusions made. Please prove me wrong.
Ohh my gosh. I have been through so many videos. I thought I needed to understand all of those charts and everything in the middle. I was so confused, but you really helped me to chill out and just read what I need. I will probably need to know what all that info means one day, but today is not that day! Thank you for making this!!!
I'm Uzbek and have been learning English as a second language, to be honest, this video really helped as I need to read articles everyday, and gain IELTS-related info, thanks sir!

Sir can you make a video on the way of writing of foreign authors Like the big think, mariginalin ,aeon etc. As if we think from the perspective of author, we will be able to comprehen better
Thank you so much for the great tutorial Mr. David! what I digested below. The title, breakdown technique is applied to answer some critical questions: What/How/Why is it being done? And to whom? note that to make sure the title. Abstracts, as the abstract, is formulated as the article structure (background, method, results, conclusions). Directing the reading followed four main parts and ask yourself: is it relevant to your interest/topics? If it is, move the paper body as follows: + Introduction: What is known (literature review) and is not known (gaps), research questions. + Methods could be ignored as it is for peer reviewers. + Results could be skipped due to only data tables/graphs excluding interpretation. + Conclusion: Significant findings and implications of results. Have a nice day!
I have an assignment to do and i have to read an article thats 25 pgs long 😮😅 i decided d thats imposisble to do and need to know how to efficiently get it done and what do i really nedd to know to start the writing proceess. This confirm why i shouddnt read the journal word from word ! Thanks a lot.
Thanks for such productive work. This is something I needed and most of my queries were addressed. I always had issues regarding this. Most of what you said, I somehow managed to go by this pattern by my own experience during my research but it took so much of my time. And I was never confident about my approach, whether to follow it or not. But thanks to you for clarifying this dilemma.

Hi, yasmin. The video provides a strategy for reading articles. For information on citing articles, try one of my other videos on that topic.
@@peakdavid Hi, okay. Sorry if I wasn't clear. I meant, is this acceptable for assignments like essays, annotated bibliographies, etc.?
I think this method is mainly useful with longer pieces of prose that contain the sections described. Good luck
