@@AnglingAnarchy I heard recently they stock 150-200 a year in the rock. It was news to me. I've caught a few but not many. Biggest was mid 30s and smallest was about 20
@@AnglingAnarchy I'm sure it did. Hopefully things warm up a bit..or did warm up a bit, while you are down south ! The lakes are all open up here in northern Illinois
Musky fishing from a dock is something I’ve been doing forever, really just because I don’t own or have any access to a boat! Caught a couple small skis off the dock before but that was years ago. Cool video as always, Brian, 👍🏻🎣👍🏻!
Now that is cool! Fished for, what I thought was a pike at the lower Niagara river. Hooked him, turned out to be a 30+ inch musky. Didn’t land him unfortunately.
@@AnglingAnarchy a lot of good species in that river. I unfortunately don’t get down there much. I live close enough but I always end up fishing smaller tribs.
Looks so much easier to cast now that tree line is cut down I fished there every day for 15 years I miss it! I’m right on Lake Erie now tho so it’s all good
Hey! The mahoning, or at least a branch of it. Amazing how such a polluted river during the steel making days now in one of only two rivers with natural musky reproduction along with the Grand. I'm 100% walleye do as well considering how many tiny ones you see and it's not that close to a reservoir. I fish that first spot all the time, but I've only seen one caught there and the water is insanely high. I get walleye there all year round, most are just eater size but I saw one that was probably pushing 30" one night. Thought it was a carp until my headlamp illuminated it's eyes. But yeah it can be tough fishing but can fire. Cool to see you guys here. Thanks for not saying exactly where the spot is like some idiots. But about 15 minutes west you've got West Branch/Michael J Kirwin reservoir is probably the best musky lake in not just Ohio but several states imo. The dam bite in the spring while the walleye are spawning is out of this world. I've had years where on the days I catch one I always get at least one or two more. And those days are WAY more common that getting skunked
I fish the river a lot and if I don't have much luck or just don't feel moving spot to spot I have some luck fishing the super heavy current by dams. If they are in the heavy current they are most likely looking for food
Ole Da Hammer As deep as she ate it, it wasn't bad getting the hooks popped. Would've taken just as long if not longer trying to cut hooks with a knipex.
Ironic you catch a plumbers helper considering where you work. That was a very nice muskie to start the season with. Hopefully a sign of a great season to come. With the vaccine's rolling out maybe you can go to Eagle Lake this year.
The Lonesome Fisherman Ironic indeed lol. I was able to get me first shot of the Moderna vaccine a few days ago. Number 2 on April 7. If the Canadian border opens, I'll be ready!
Someone's gotta start. Not trying to have anyone get hurt. But I'm from The hood. If I ever seen some dude fishing. White/black/pink. Wouldn't bother em. Might talk to em. Just bring an extra rod or 2. Lol 😆
You guys can fish anywhere no matter what the neighborhood is defined as. If you scared bring something to protect yourself. Saw a UA-cam video where a guy was fishing and two guys tried rob him until he pulled his gun out. They left and he kept fishing.
Hello! This is the first time I see how they catch a Moskinong from the shore. I often see people fishing with such short leads in front of the bait. Have you ever had a case where the fish missed and cut the main line?
Hello! Thank you for watching. We typically fish with shorter leaders as it makes it easier to maneuver the bait if a musky follows in. It's pretty rare that a bite off occurs, but it can happen.
Dude awesome video! That fish was really nice, looking forward to contacting some musky like that here soon! Glad the pre spawn fish didn't swerve you guys.

Rob Grubb Thanks man!
Over at the tionesta outflow in PA that's how you do it right there in the oxygen bubbles👏👏
Your crew had a great response time they jumped right up to get that net
I feel like musky fishing from shore is overlooked, and I hope it stays that way because I like having it mostly to myself lol.
Not in my area , it gets ridiculous some places , like opening day of trout . And some of the people are ignorant as hell .
I never catch em from the bank guess it’s a whole diff style of fishing
That squeaky laugh at 7:10 was amazing 😂
Bassin with Jackson Lol, my wife calls that my "old man" laugh 😅
River Musky is where it's at!! I live just north of Madison and we caught 19 musky out of the Wisconsin from shore last season!

Wow that musky was masive wel done 🐟🐟🐟🐟👌🏻
girl_piker Thank you! 😊
That’s a dandy of a ski right there! River ski’s are built different! Wish the rivers here in Southern Wisconsin had more of them in there.
Cody McMillan Thank you! I agree, I'd like to see the Rock river get a little stocking. May have to talk to the local clubs about it.

When they eat it that deep, get your knipex out and just cut the hooks all off, takes far less time and less stress on the fish.
