  • Two deadly crashes involving Teslas occurred amid the car company issuing a massive recall of 363,000 vehicles. Tesla warned that the self-driving feature may allow vehicles to “travel through intersections in an unlawful or unpredictable manner." In California, a Tesla driver was killed after plowing right into a fire truck on a California freeway. In China, an out-of-control Tesla killed one person. Authorities have not determined whether the autopilot was in use in any of those crashes.

lol yeah the technology can seem scary at first, but two or three decades from now self driving technology would be so safe, commonplace and improved to the point where we'll look back and see how dangerous driving is now, without it.. It would be like someone looking back to the 1920s and see how scary driving was back then. I think improved self driving technology with sophisticated sensors is the way to go. You take the wheel from drunk drivers, bad drivers, and other impaired drivers and you will definitely save lives.

Many people fall asleep unintentionally behind the wheel every day, i myself have fallen asleep behind the wheel many many times (usually i am woken up seconds after falling asleep by the car crossing the lane line or something like that). If a person uses driving aid to reduce the workload of driving the car, without the intent of going to sleep relying on the system to drive the car, and then falls asleep accidentally, i dont think it should be percieved any differently by the law as when an ordinary person in a car with no driving assist systems falls asleep at the wheel.

Autopilot systems on aircraft have to go through extremely rigorous testing before they can be released for commercial use. An example of failing to do this is the testing of the Boeing 737 Max. It is therefore logical that the same rigorous testing should be applied to road-vehicles as well. As such, why doesn't the Transportation Safety Board force Tesla to disable this currently dangerous faulty feature? If Tesla refuses, then ground the fleet.

I've been in a Tesla on the highway that was on autopilot. With tons of traffic speeding around. Never felt so unsafe in my life. Never again. Machines malfunction, people can adapt.

Driven in my Tesla on the highway that was on autopilot. With tons of traffic speeding around. Never felt so safe in my life. My biggest concern is the people around me with their unsafe driving habits. People will never luearn.

@@universeisundernoobligatio3283 One thing goes wrong with the software, and you're screwed though which I don't like. And too many other people like in this video take advantage of it and end up asleep or in a position that if there were a split second driving decision or reaction you needed to make that only a human (not machine) can judge what to do in, it wont end well.
Also I probably should've provided context that i have been in a near fatal car accident on the highway (in a non-tesla) and had no time to do anything but react immediately and get my car off the highway after getting hit by 2 other cars. and managed to swerve to miss all the others as my car got sent across the lanes. Everyone involved was okay but lets just say im a cautious driver now.
Regardless of the car you choose, pay attention to the road and the cars around you. Not a Tesla hater, just hated not having control over what it was doing. lol

Last time I was in that situation the car was driving like it was being driven by a drunk driver moving too much between the lines especially on corners on the highway.

They should try to create a system where they try to detect if a person is unresponsive or distracted and try to alert them. If not responding they should also make a system that directs the car to a “safe spot” to park and wait. In a sense some sort of punishment at the same time💀

they do. they both detect torque on the steering wheel and (in some at least and I know for people with FSD beta) monitor where the driver is looking with a camera.

    No one wants Tesla's anymore.
If you're not connected to the internet you can't drive it.
You have to e-mail for car repair?
if you breakdown in the desert, what if there's no bars?
Hire a driver if you don't want to drive.

For me personally, I am very reluctant to entrust my life to something that can be so radically changed by a software update.
This being said however, It is still the responsibility of the driver to drive the car and to do the things a driver would do.

I was an over the road trucker for a while. When you see someone sleeping in a tesla, just leave them alone. In la, there’s tons and tons of people sleeping in traffic. I’ve never had a problem. Kinda cool to watch a car maneuver through traffic all by itself. If my semi was self driving, I would be in my sleeper eating a sandwich and playing PS5 through traffic
