The most informative review I have seen on the B5. I have trolled through about 12 others and this is by far the best. It has clarified much of the confusion around the B5 compared to previous models. And in a no BS, straight talking manner. Thanks for a great review.
I'm so sick of every car being compared for its sportiness. I don't give a shit about that. Competent power is great, which these s60s have, combined with beautiful design, sensibility, comfort, features, and safety. The most reliable of the European brands, the best value as well. If I need my car to represent the 20 year old "I'm in the gym lifting everyday" image then BMW, if I want the 30s-40s "I want to look like I have more money than I actually do" crowd, then Mercedes. Volvos are overlooked because they're sensible, comfortable, durable, safe cars, with restrained but good looks, and enough power for confident driving, not showing off. 🙂
The B5 is not simply a re-named T5. The B5 is a de-tuned T5 engine with the 48V mild hybrid arrangement making up the difference to the prior T5. Notice the change in the shifter; that's the same one that's on the T8 and it's there because there is an electric component to the powertrain. The T5 was pure gasoline power.
It has a fantastic "dash to axle" ratio, and just in general, a very strong side profile... if you ask me, the wagons are amongst the sexiest design wise
I have a question regarding the S60 T8. It has 405hp and 472ft lbs of torque. The electric motor has 22 miles. Does this mean that once you drive in electric for 22 miles. The hp and torque go down? Or is does the power remain the same?
The power should remain the same, as all these plug-in hybrids retain a certain level of percentage (essentially acting as normal non-plug-in hybrids) but won't let you purely rely on that charge for driving after the 22 miles of range. So yes, still the same power figures if you floor it, but no full EV driving til you "plug it in" and recharge the battery. Hope that makes sense?
@@bobdole991 exactly! Volvo makes excellent vehicles, but their 2 primary focuses are on safety and efficiency -- not 2 bad things to be focused on... but surely not what everyone wants either 🤷🏻♂️
Would you consider a S60 over the likes of 330i, C300, A4, or IS 300? 0_o
Never really been a fan of Volvos, but this isn’t bad. Still would take a 330i for sure
@@SeanGriffith7 I respect everything you said here

Really appreciate this, thank you!!

You're waaaaay to clean 😤😎
Good honest review. You mentioned information that I didn’t know, such as the T6 being discontinued . Nice job.
Thank you sir! Glad to help in any way 😎👍

I know! But the T6 missing is the sad part 😭
@@Reoniz Man, that's only the tip of the iceberg on what's missing.
I love the way this car drives. The interior is pretty nice too. It's just missing some pizzazz. Would like a sportier look
Yessir... and some sportier driving dynamics
The side profile is the selling point. Front axles pushed forward completely changing the driving dynamics. No fwd overbite.

@@Reoniz Yes, the polestar wagon is something I wouldn't mind. Price isn't justifiable but I just can't deny the numbers it puts down.
@@reddstool1023 I agree regarding price, but a sharp looking wagon and of good quality as well

is it true that volvo's have the best heating systems bc it's so cold in sweden?
Hmmm, I've never heard that, although I can confirm that even Scandinavian summers can be brutally cold... if you're used to SoCal weather hahaha
@SamS44 hahahaaha
I believe the word for gas in Swedish starts with a T. I guess mild hybrid in Swedish starts with a B.
As compelling as that sounds, I unfortunately do not believe it's true :/
Damn, I was thinking about getting a Volvo S60 T6. These changes low-key turned me off smh.
Ya it's definitely a bit strange...
@@Reoniz At this point, it comes down to what a driver prioritizes.

@@bobdole991 that would be the dream huh... I'll do an orange F1 🤪
They should have kept t6 making it b6 and got rid of b5 and made the t8 faster this year
I can't argue with that!! 😎👍
Nice car but a bmw 330i for me thanks for the review 👍
