- DECORAH EAGLES & EAGLETS IOWA USA... Is this the next chapter in the history of the Decorah Eagles?
◕ Eagle Decorah Dad missing since April 18th.
◕ Eagle Mom and an UME (unidentified male eagle) have been perching together on the maple tree close by the nest tree.
◕ As time passes Mom has become more accepting of his presence, however as yet has not let him near the nest.
◕ UME has not behaved aggressively towards Eagle Mom or her eaglets.
◕ UME has been defending against other intruders... so that's a positive.

Quite a conversation they were having! Such a Beautiful and Caring Mom! I can see she puts her eaglets needs first. I laughed when the middle eaglet helped itself to the last part of fish. Helping itself to the fish, instead of waiting for Mom to feed it, shows how fast they've grown! I, too, love how they are so calm and get along so well now. I remember one pecking the other a lot when they were little. I wonder if the new suitor will start helping Mom get food for her eaglets...Such a wonderful live story you have given us, Bella! Thank you!

Hello My Birdy Friend Sean, We may never know what has happened to Decorah Dad... so sad! The new male is still watching over Mom and the eaglets. He's even been babysitting (from a nearby branch) while she is off the nest. Comfort for her, I'm sure.

I had not seen the previous video of the eagle family. I did not know that the male of the couple had disappeared.
It's sad, but it's the law of life, and I've seen that the female has managed very well on her own, I've even seen her arrive with one fish in each claw, Incredible.
Then I read that the small pond where the eagles fish, I think it is a fish farm, which is why the eagles made their nests there and based on that they have had such an enormous reproductive success.
The case is that a new male has occupied the territory that has left the previous one free (if he had been alive, he would not have allowed the new male to stay there) and in function of the high level of experience of the female and the favorable conditions for the raising of the chickens, I imagine that the pair of eagles of Decorah (Iowa), is guaranteed its survival for many years.
The images are spectacular and incredibly beautiful. The close-ups have a majestic quality and allow us to feel as if we were next to the nest, watching the breeding minute by minute.

I've studied birds (not eagles)... for many years, and this would not have happened. We may never know the reason. After extensive searches, nothing has eventuated as to where he might be. For me, this season (since nest preparations) I've observed closely the relationship between the two. I noticed on many occasions how Eagle Mom was very aggressive towards Eagle Dad. Also Dad disappeared the day after that horrendous snow storm. In the opening scene of my video 'Wild Weather'... Dad was shaking! I had not seen this before. They are experienced in this bad weather. He was 21 plus years old. Did the weather affect him? I don't know! He was such a devoted Dad... I also cannot imagine he would just leave his eaglets. So many unanswered question my friend. I guess all we can do is watch, learn and become more educated about these majestic raptors.

sooo cute how the female landed on tree with the UME, and they both started vocalizing... Hmmmm... could this UME possibly be from another season/clutch?? BELLAMOONnature?? what is your opinon.. UME hasn't even bothered the babies, or tried to land on the nest.. the UME has protected from intruders; atleast once that I have seen on video...
Hello Barb 'Welcome!' Sincere thanks for your visit and for sharing your thoughts. She certainly has warmed to him these past few days. Nobody knows anything about the new eagle... he's not tagged. Me personally, I think... it was a young eagle who saw an opportunity and stayed. It happened at the same time when birds were migrating through this area. I guess we'll never know.
It will be interesting to see how this all unfolds. I think it's a positive he's around to protect Mom. He hasn't posed a threat towards her or the eaglets. Happy weekend. 🌹

Is the lighter coloured eaglet a boy and the two darker ones girls?
Hello Susan 'Welcome' The only way to determine gender is through a DNA test. Not known if they are boys/girls.
The lighter one is eaglet D31, hatched three days after the first... thus the lighter colour. Soon they will be all black.

Hello Kathy 'Welcome!' No one can predict an outcome here. What we do know is... the new male has posed no threat to Mom or the eaglets. He has been protecting them from other intruders, and he and Mom are spending more time together perched in a nearby tree. She seems very comfortable around him now. He hasn't attempted to land on the nest. Mom is one fierce female, I think he knows his limits :) Will be interesting to see how this unfolds. Thank you for your visit. Have a lovely week🌹ﾒ
