How good is that fox's hearing that it heard the owl launch off the branch -- no way he heard its wings flapping. Very good night vision by the fox, too.
I actually had a GHO fly within 7 feet over my head a week or so ago.... believe me, you SEE them when they’re coming! A lot bigger than I would have thought!😂
Had a great horned owl on my patio last month. Scared the heck out of me. Huge wing span. I had both of my Golden Doodles outside and that thing kept watch from the trees. Frightening. Haven't seen it recently. Thank goodness.
@@EagleCamOnline I shared the clip on Charlo's Osprey chat since we have a lot of GHO activities over there, too. They are fighting off the ospreys from the perch for territorial reasons. It looks like the Decorah GHO was trying to chase off the fox as well, rather than to prey on it: "Hey you, get out of my cloud!" 😆
@@reginahornung LOL, think so too..!! Also GHO's active at GSB from time to time. Looks like GHO's are thriving everywhere! If only they choosed their own (cam) locations, haha!
@@EagleCamOnline This year and two years ago, our resident Charlo couple, Hootie and Wonky, had their own cam. They raised 3 owlets and it was fun to watch. Now, the offspring show up on the osprey nest, too. The GHO nest was about 250 yards away from the osprey nest - they use it during the courtship for date nights, snacking, and mating. Luckily, there are lots of voles in the surrounding fields! I saw the GSB activities, too. Over there and at Hog Island they don't really have fans due to their predatory behavior.
It's infrared - only the camera can see and not the owl nor the fox can see any light. The infrared is reflected from back of fox's eye - ditto owl if facing camera.
I’m so amazed that the fox was incredibly keen on the Owl I’m amazed by how the fox was able to hear the Great Horned Owl and get out of its way
Very entertaining videos love to watch them, love to watch animals & raptors in the woods.

Wow! I am amazed that the fox keeps spotting the GHO, siient as they are!

The fox has night vision as well!
@@TIM.DREAMZyes but at night you won’t see an owl that big flying down on you unless you have some sort of lighting

Fox to hooman {... “ would you stop shining that damn light on me! I’m trying to be stealthy... “ }
it actually helps the fox see more than anyting because the owl would see the fox regardless
"This is an avian town fox boy"
I thought they were absolutely silent ! I guess not 🤷🏼
I thought owls we’re silent killers? .......it’s like the owl had a siren on his head and the fox saw the owl coming every time
Maybe it's being territorial.
Fox are also silent hunters. Their hearing and night vision is just as good.
I found this so educational.
I'm guessing that the owl was hoping to steal a rodent that the fox was flushing out of the brush.
Aww little one
Ty for sharing
The GHO has dibs on that deer carcass.
2:30 The Great Horned Owl... The Night Hunter...
Must be a Nest nearby
I think it was the deer carcass. Clearly visible @6:40.
@@wapsiriverscout543 No why the Owl kept going after the Fox
Fox was not really afraid as it stayed there,
Quick as a fox.
Great catch, Maaike!
Thank you, Regina!

@@reginahornung Ah, makes sense!
GHO have great infrared sight!
Till now I was thinking how the nocturnal Animal Sees In Dark, after watching this videos i knew now they Had Lights In their eye, like Head Lights.

Stashing a lil somethin somethin!! LOL
Wow
Wow is right! ;-)

Don't you think the owl get assisted by the light by it focusing on
the fox
Owls can't see the infra red light of the camera
No an owls have specialized nocturnal fission they can see super good at night.
Waste of time! Didn't attack sh*t just startled it.
There’s something seriously wrong with you, and you need to be observed clinically
