- DECORAH EAGLES & EAGLETS 🐣 🐣🐣 LOOK AT THEM NOW ◕ RAPID GROWTH ◕ NEW MALE PROTECTS EAGLE FAMILY, keeping intruders away from the area. The Decorah Eaglets are growing rapidly... at five weeks they are almost half way to fledging. They are generally ready to fledge, or take their first flight by 10-12 weeks of age. On May 7 Mom hauled home 11 fish and a rabbit, showing her prowess as well as the abundance of prey in her territory. Mom and the (new) unidentified male eagle (UME) have been perching and flying together.

I am so proud of mum she has totally been an absolutely gem of a mother to solely be taking care of her Three babies, she is truly a number one mum , God bless her and the babies, As sad as it was to lose daddy Decorah I do hope this new male that’s been around protecting them and watching over them stays and next season we see them have a family, ❤️🦅❤️ thanks for the beautiful video Bella 🌹

Imagine her not having that support! It will be so interesting to see if they return next year as a couple and produce their own family... only time will tell! Most definitely the Mother of the Year!! She has done such a wonderful job. I dropped in and stayed about an hour, by which time, eldest and middle were on their feet waiting for Mum. She did come back while I was there, but no food this time...it was right on bed time, so she went to her watching branch and they all settled. No sign of UM tonight. Thanks Bella.

I was there a few minutes ago. She delivered 3 fish while I was watching... the eaglets are stuffed :) UME is never far away. Sometimes he sits above the nest out of range of the camera. He often flies off when Mom does. I've seen him follow her many times. Will be very interesting to see if they come back as a pair next season. Thanks again for popping by. Have a lovely evening! 💐 ﾒ

Hello Joan, It is amazing to think something so small can fledge in 10/12 weeks. On one day this week, Eagle Mom delivered 11 fish and 1 rabbit (in 1 day) No wonder they are growing like weeds :) It's comforting to know another is watching out for her. Now, she seems very comfortable in his presence... however I doubt if she will allow him on the nest... time will tell. Will be interesting to see if they return as a couple next season. Well, Bella, everything is going well in the bald eagles nest, in Decorah.
The supply of food is guaranteed and the experience of the female is
evident, now with the help of a new male, it is normal for the couple to
continue bringing new bald eagles in the American continent.
The crop of the chickens and the absence of conflicts in the nest denotes the abundance of food in the territory. A true luxury for wild animals and a pleasure for observers on the other side of the computer screen.

Hello Antonio, Indeed it is my friend. There is abundant food in the area. One day this week eagle Mom delivered 11 fish and 1 rabbit.
Hard to believe these eaglets could eat that much in a day, however they did... evident with the size of that crop. The new male is protecting the area and chasing intruders away. So far this journey has been an incredible experience for the viewer, with this open window into their world. Appreciate your valuable feedback my friend, as I know you've closely observed raptors in the wild.

Wow, they're growing fast. Single Mom is doing a fantastic job w/ her 3 beautiful babies. ♡♡♡ I still miss dad. But, cool to see a new Male moved in to protect them.
We will always miss Decorah Dad. Supermom is doing a great job and Dad's wonderful legacy will live on.
The new male is protecting the area and Mom seems to be very comfortable in his presence.

Hello Donna 'Welcome' No, not as yet, I think Mom is quite happy to be sole provider. Can you believe, the other day she delivered 11 fish and 1 rabbit (in one day) so I think she is doing just fine... a supermom eagle! Love her!

She's one fierce female... I don't know if she will allow him to land on the nest. One day this week Mom delivered 11 fish and 1 rabbit... so she is doing an incredible job on her own. He's doing a fantastic job keeping intruders away. Seems like another great team in the making. Will be interesting to see how this all plays out/better than any soap opera :)

Yes, Mom is doing a phenomenal job, but if he would bring a fish to the nest to share, then we'll know he's not a threat to the eaglets... She is keeping him away from the nest to protect them... New males don't typically accept a previous male's eaglets, but rather will compete with them, sometimes even killing them, so he has the female's attention all to himself. With that said, returning to your comment about her bringing in 11 fish and a rabbit the other day... I seen that and it is simply unbelievable and amazing, just fascinating, even with the fishery across the road. I have never witnessed a female eagle able to rear an eaglet, much less THREE of them, successfully on her own. I don't know that it's even ever been documented before, and perhaps someone will come along and correct me if I am wrong. With that said, what we are witnessing is truly remarkable... And I agree with you wholeheartedly, this mother is FIERCE. Love her! :) Thanks for your videos!
