I got the opportunity to run a bobcat skid steer around 3 weeks ago we were slow at work so we all loaded up and went down to Robinson Illinois after the tornado hit and we helped clean up and the owner of the property had the skid steer and he told me to run it with a grapple and haul stuff to the burn pile I think the it was a T870 skid steer cab heat and air joystick controls it definitely gave me the fever of wanting one the tornado was a terrible thing that happened but it was awesome seeing everyone pull together and help clean up for everyone effected
Neil… two skidsteers working in such a tight space could be a recipe for disaster! It takes a lot of coordination to stay out of each others way. Crashes and lost time are the result of not doing so. I watched this on my phone, then went to my computer where I could slow down the action. The division of work and coordination of movement were spot on. It’s apparent that both of you had prior experience working around others on a job site! Miracle Recreation headquarters is located 30 miles from Sassafras Valley. It employs hundreds of workers from the area. They are a preferred employer among all the other local manufacturers. In addition, their support for youth and civic groups is tremendous. I’m glad that Harlan chose them to provide the playground equipment. The community will not be disappointed. It has been a really exciting week for me. So many people stopped by my channel to see me and nearly a hundred subscribed. I appreciate the excellent shout out and wanted to put my sincere thanks to you and your incredible subscribers for coming by, liking videos and even subscribing. Thank you bud!!!
Every time I get to work with Jack I get that sense of "knowing what the other guy is doing" and that can really make a job fun. He is a great operator and I feel like it makes me better to work with him. So, thanks for saying that about the two of us working together. That's great to hear that Miracle Recreation is such a well respected company. I really thought their equipment was well built and most everything went together beautifully. We chose them because of the people that came to show us the equipment and bid the project. Their project manager Juan was also terrific. You'll see a more detailed video of the complete build coming soon! :) I'm grateful to hear about the growth and additional viewership to your channel. Very well deserved. Hopefully some more folks will continue to find you along the way. Hope you've had a great week!
Just to say a big thank you for your "do something every day" talk. I've now accomplished 2 projects based on doing something every day. Stuff that I'd been procrastinating with for months.
Neil, you are inspiring all of us living in a small town to help out! Keep up the good work! I have been messaging from both of my UA-cam accounts, but if you could find 5 seconds to give a Birthday shout-out to Barrett in Nebraska, it would be so awesome. May 3rd is his Bday. He's turning 4 and he's seen every video you've made. Thanks and keep rockin'!
Hey Nate. Thanks so much for the great comments. I'll see what I can do about that B-day shout out if I can remember:) Thanks to you guys so much for watching!
If you ever do decide to purchase a Bobcat track loader, come see me first. I give you an open invitation to come over and run mine as long as you want. It has heat and air as well as joystick controls. T770 with tons of power. See if you like it better.
The guy that first hired and taught me to operate equipment always had machines with hand/foot controls. His latest machine is a T595 Bobcat with the same controls. I helped him on a large job a few months back and had to run his machine. After operating my machine with joystick controls for several years, let's just say there was a learning curve involved. Lol. It took me about 30 mins to relearn what I haven't done in a very long time. Oh well, at least I provided my former boss with some high-quality entertainment. Good stuff Neil, thanks for sharing.
I have spent time running joysticks as well and really must say that I prefer it in the long run. There's so much less fatigue when you're not working your feet all day it seems like.
I agree they both have their purposes and spots where they shine. I started with the compact tractor and ended up finding a case 1845c skid steer and talked the wife into getting it with the intent of selling the tractor. 9 years I still have both ha ha! Just have all the iron you can keep ahold of!
Hi Neil. A skid loader is such a versatile piece of equipment, I don't think you could go wrong with buying one. If I ever buy a piece of property like I want to, that would be one of the first large purchases I would make. I don't know if they all have them but I would want to make sure it had the ability to run a hydraulic motor on a front attachment. I'll bet the kids can't wait until the playground is finished. What a cool project to be involved in! Thanks for the video! -mike
Hello Neil, you guys did a really good job on the playground. The kids wil have a nice playground once finished. Luckily you had good weather and a lot of sunshine.the tracked skidsteers are really nice machines , if I could choose I'd go for the Kubota. But the bobcat wil do just fine . I have learned to operate skidsteer with the foot controls . if you are going to change over to joysticks controls , that's really going to be difficult in the beginning . Keep up the good work ,the kids wil be thankful for your efforts. Greetings from belgium 🇧🇪
Neil a track skidsteer is an absolute game changer!! I bought the bobcat t595 and it is a perfect machine for what I do. It makes firewood so much easier. I did not get the foot controls as I was never very comfortable with that style. However I did opt for the pilot controls or a switch to change to an "H" pattern normally ran by case skidsteers. My only complaint with my bobcat is the door! If you lift the arms at all you can't get out. I know there are models out there where the door slides up above the operator. But if I were to do it all over again I would not let that be a factor. I hope to see your channel with a skidsteer in the near future. Until then stay safe and keep pumping out these awesome videos!
Ya know, I watch a YT channel up in Ontario, Canada (Sandi Brock), and she is a sheep farmer and her husband farms corn, red wheat, soybeans, barley, alfalfa blend (for the sheep) and canola. They use Bobcat Telehandlers with several attachments. The manure from the sheep fertilizes the grounds that they plant on. They have huge bales of hay and straw that the telehandlers move and stack with ease. You could have used some of that lovely dirt to build up your yard so it doesn't flood from the field. Thank you for another great video, Neil. I hope to see a finished dream JD 318H, H for Hybrid, in the next one! 👍👍🥰🥰🤗🤗😘😘👍👍🥰🥰🤗🤗😘😘
Your videos usually save me money. Encouraging my to repurpose as much as I can. But this one has me wanting a skid steer. And May cost me a fortune. Thanks a lot. 😂
I know right! I actually wanted the the little T450 with joystick controls but it just wasn't big enough. Fortunately my feet aren't big enough to be a problem with the foot pedals, but I could see how that could be a real issue!
You know you're in the crap when it's cheaper to use silver then it is copper. That and silver didn't have a big use during WW2 but copper sure as heck did. They were marked with a large mint mark on the tails side for easy recognition - the plan was after the war to remove them from circulation and melt them down. I never heard where it went wrong but there's a lot of them out there. Great video Neil, and great work on it.
Worst part about Bobcat cab machines is that the door won't open unless the arms are all the way down which can be real annoying. If I had to have a unit with a cab I would look at the Takehuchi or Kubota because their doors open up and allow you to get out easier
Heat and air make this machine 10 times more usable. Just breathing fresh dust free air alone is worth the price. Wish I had bought my track steer years ago. I use for tasks I never knew I would. It’s my go to machine. Deere 325G
We just got a new 325g at work and I agree on the dust but the door has already been broken twice on a machine with less than 500 hours. Quarry work is rough on equipment and people.
Neil I'm a heavy equipment operator full time and I run everything , my only advice if you get one, get the next size up that you think you need and for sure get the heat/ac and the pilot controls !! Love my cat 289d3 it amazes people time and time again the amount of work I can get done with it compared to a tractor with a loader
Skid steers sure are handy. I was helping a friend last weekend work on his yard, and though I have the lift capacity and bucket size of a skid steer on my compact tractor, the engine being between the operator and the bucket and the overall length make it challenging. Your point about tracks not falling in the holes is good too! Great to see you doing projects at the park, or really anywhere, thanks for bring us along!
What a service you offer to the community, this kind of grading and removal cost a fortune today, and you guys offer your machinery and time, can`t wait to see the new park go in, for all the kids to enjoy, now lets get some paint on that 318.
Just got a Deere track skidsteer and love the tracked skidsteers. But also just bought a GiAnt mini articulating loader and REALLY like it. No tearing up the ground like a skidsteer.
Skid steer is the ultimate all around machine. They have so many different sizes for your specific needs and a plethora of attachments to buy or rent, so you cant go wrong. Now, to the click bait. Absolutely add to the fleet, do not get rid of the JD755. It just wouldn’t be right! Until next time, thanks for sharing. Now get back to work on the 318! Lol 😆
I agree, I like having my skidsteer and I like having my compact tractor. If I had to make a trade, I’d get a tracked skidsteer over my tire machine, but it works!

good job and video. it's crazy the laws they have now that are not needed. i never could use a skid steer and now my knees bad. dad did well with them but i was really bad with one. take care, be safe and well.
The newer operator controls are less fatigue on the arms where both sticks control boom bucket and steer functions as well as 3rd function controls Lol o used to be operating an old style and then go to a new style and forget what did what 😂😂. You did well and always better to go bigger than smaller if given the option in my opinion 😊😊
Only problem I have with bobcat is the door. I did a video plowing with one, and it was hard to deal with the plow stand because you can’t put it down all the way and open the door. That creates a problem because a lot of times with the grapple bucket I’m holding some thing and I need to get out of the machine but with the arms up you can’t open the door I absolutely love my Takeuchi.
Just found your channel and like the content! My dad has a outdoor wood boiler and he cuts all of his fire wood and all of my brothers fire wood with his ASV 100 skid loader and mighty axe tree clipper. IMO, the swing out doors should have never been used, since the loader has to be all the way down or way up in the air to use the door.
I do much better with the hand controls, just when I think I have mastered foot controls, I dump a bucket load in front of me when I go to move lol Great video your town is lucky to have all of you folks!!
The fact that he says he love the bobcat the kubota and JD just shows how happy he is to have any upgrade from what he was using. Don’t let this review sway your questioning as there are still plenty of differences between each loader and loader class
It's funny, I have a big Kubota Skidder and after watching your videos I'm on the hunt for a JD 318 to do all my fine grading. Some guys can grade laser smooth with a skid steer. I however, am not one of those guys!
I OWN BOTH a skid loader if you move a lot of dirt small trees heavy dig jobs Not really a up grade ---a tractor can do more with less tire wear a tractor is more versatile try mowing a persons yard then switch to digging out a driveway with a back hoe loader combo
Most of the time the rental company will charge the crap out of u for cleaning the tracks if u bring it in like yours was. That’s funny that the last guy got charged
I thought the same thing. Originally I had told him I wanted the 450 because I had joystick controls and I wanted to try that but upon seeing that it couldn't quite reach into my truck. I switched the last minute and they really didn't have the t590 prepped to go. But yeah whoever brought it back last time brought it back kind of muddy!
Well, to be fair I switched machines on them the day I picked it up cause the smaller one wouldn't dump in the truck. They had the one I didn't clean all spiffed up and I took one that wasn't ready to go.
With my own personal bias, I’d recommend to stay away from bobcat. Ingersoll-rand equipment is garbage, between the steel and pain that rusts away within the first few years of ownership, to the pumps and electric failing. I had a doosan that snapped the boom with only 300 hours in it. Kubota has probably one of the best skid steers on the market. They not only have great visibility, boom geometry and power, but there are dealers literally everywhere no matter what part of the country. My pre emissions SVL90 has been such a useful machine, and with pretty much every job I have there is a use for it, especially with the amount of attachments available for a high flow machine.
@Neil Koch: Dig-Drive-DIY they don't use kubota engines anymore. The doosan engines have a lot of problems. We got rid of our bobcats and went with deere. Way more power. Also, joystick controls over hand and foot all day. Very small learning curve and you will be able work way faster.

AC/Heat & air filtration is king. Think of it at your age 😊
Any day I get to play with heavy equipment is a good day to me lol

IMO, the swing out doors should have never been used, since the loader has to be all the way down or way up in the air to use the door.

I OWN BOTH a skid loader if you move a lot of dirt small trees heavy dig jobs Not really a up grade ---a tractor can do more with less tire wear a tractor is more versatile try mowing a persons yard then switch to digging out a driveway with a back hoe loader combo
Yes indeed!
I'd have to have both I think at this point.
Yes it's hard to beat a track loader the power and productivity makes work easier
For sure!
What happened to the gmc general dump truck
But one with a CAB!!
Surprising they rented a filthy machine. Place I use makes a big deal on cleaning after rental.
Well, to be fair I switched machines on them the day I picked it up cause the smaller one wouldn't dump in the truck. They had the one I didn't clean all spiffed up and I took one that wasn't ready to go.
I don’t think Bobcat makes the new machines with foot controls anymore, don’t forget about New Holland and Case!
Do you still have the tri axle ?
Don't sell your tractor it still has a place for some work
What is the music playing during the work?
I am looking for a 755 compact tractor
Who likes eating dust all day? Heat and air all the way
Right 👍🏻
I would personally stay away from bobcat. Ever since doosan took over they aren't the same as they used to be. Just my 2 cents
Good to know. In what ways are they not the same? I would never know the difference I guess.
They do use kubota engines
@Viralclown not anymore, they use doosan engines
@@mercedesbenzisbest not according to their website
Do yourself a favor and buy a machine bigger than you need like a t 650 you won't be disappointed.
No keep it
Don't drop the tractor!!!! Not the tractor!!!
Wanna sell. The small utility tractor
Not yet! I don't have a skid loader yet!
First
I'm out working today and 10 minutes of my 15 minute break just got better! 😄
