- We set out on vacation with our RV for an 18 hour trip to Colorado. Unfortunately, the RV wasn't ready to make the trip and we broke down before we got started. Fortunately though, @WatchWesWork was able to help save the day!
Be sure to check out the Watch Wes Work UA-cam channel and tell him I said hi:
/ @watchweswork - Авто та транспорт
If you want a treat, do yourself a favor and go over to Watch Wes Work and check out his version of this RV saga here: ua-cam.com/video/HxUPW6iW4F0/v-deo.html
And this is how I got routed from Wes channel to this one :)
@@Compasscardme too. Great community of content creators.
Pleased to make your acquaintance via Wes' site. Spent several years in Colorado Springs, with occasional trips to places you visited. Fun memories! Glad you got to enjoy your trip anyhow! Kent
how i came over here, i watch wes for 3 years so far.
Thanks for taking us along on your trip. I too was routed here from Wes. As a fellow Kansan I can relate to your bug experience 😅😂.
You couldn't have broken down in a better place. Wes is one of the best mechanics and troubleshooters I've come across. His work ethic is second to none.
Listen everyone, this is the American dream right here! Being a honest blue collar father who takes care of his family and fixes his problems himself. Awesome buddy glad you guys are safe
Absolutely !
But, he also develops community that supports, helps and accommodates him / them.
More like, dig-drive-diy- and positive mental well-being channel. I love you guys! This is some of the most wholesome and kind content on YT at the moment.
Thanks. I appreciate that for sure.
Wes shifted me, and probably several folks your direction-within minutes, I knew I’d discovered some more folks I wanted to know a bit more about. I look forward to watching your videos and learning about the things you’re interested in doing and sharing? ✌🏻
I've became a big fan of your channel from stumbling upon your pond build series. This led me to watching through a wide variety of your other videos as you're living every little boy's dream of operating dump trucks, heavy equipment, and working in the dirt. The interactions and relationship you have with your family are heart warming and you seem like a hell of a guy.
The icing on the cake was the surprise MKIV Supra in this episode, an unexpected foray into my world. I couldn't help but smile when I saw it. Keep up the great work, Neil. I look forward to your videos each week and will continue watching through old episodes to get fully up to speed in the meantime.
Hey that's awesome to hear! Thanks so much for going back through the videos.
That Supra is the fastest car I've ever ridden in, and that was about 500hp ago!. He has had it for over 20 years and he's now built it into a 1100hp, 9 second drag racer.

@@digdrivediyMy pleasure, thank you for putting out the content. I hope you guys had a good time at Harlan Days.
I'll have to read through the article. Skimming the photos, it looks like a very nice build. I'm glad to hear he's owned it for that long as well.
I have a '94 Supra that I've built into a drag car and a '92 Lexus SC300 street car that I'm in the process of resurrecting. The Supra made a little bit over 1,200whp while the Lexus' power numbers are TBD. Both builds are documented/being documented on my channel.
I'm in central Ohio - if you ever find yourself in this area and need any welding/fabrication work done, don't hesitate to reach out.
@@AlexLindner Awesome!!
Wes is a national/international treasure for sure!
Epic Dad move assembling the carrier in the store!
Keg of beer and umbrella at the end, just topped off this trip you took us on!!! Man I love this channel!
Wes is an awesome mechanic. I'm pretty sure he could fix just about anything.
You really couldn't have picked a better place to break down if you'd planned it Neil! Happy anniversary and glad you all had a good vacation. Looking forward to seeing the diagnosis and repair on @WatchWesWork .
Adapt and overcome, well worth it. Another memory for the books. Thanks for sharing
Wes and family are good people and good people deserve to have good friends
Your videos are just the best Neil. Thank you for not only teaching us so many things, but sharing your life and all the “good” in it.
Thanks Chris. I appreciate it very much.
Thanks for sharing the Koch Family Big Vacation Adventure! Your comment about hospitality was so spot on. It was great to "ride along" with you all.
Neil, Thank You for the reminder to be positive!
Just watched WWW. How wonderful to have people like Wes and his family as friends :)
Wes brought me here. Looked at your videos youve put out, liked what i seen, and now subbed. Hopefully more of Wes watchers come over to support your channel.
When life gives you lemons, you make lemonade, just like you and your family did, it still looked like a pretty nice trip, glad you got the RV back and all is well.
The girls embarrassed of their dad doing something weird in the store is the greatest 😂😂
Wes is a great dude. Incredible trip. Fun video to watch. 👍
24:05 Thank you for this reminder, Neil! It's really easy to forget this perspective if I don't stay on top of being mindful of my thought processes. Best wishes to you and your family, can't wait to see the next pond/pool update. ✌️💕
I’m a long time Wes & Mrs. Wes viewer. I’m glad he linked up your channel on his video. Great stuff!
Hi Neil. You couldn't have picked a better place to break down! I watch Wes all the time and he cracks me up. Even on his second channel. What a great trip. You are so right in saying that there is a lot of good in the world if we stop to look for it. Sometimes it finds us even if we aren't looking for it. Glad everything worked out well. Thanks for the video!
-mike
If you had to break down, it was near one of the best. Something providential about that. Thanks for sharing and being a good sport.
Wes family and your cousin’s family, have shown their generosity soooo much! Hope you and your family NEVER forget!
Just started following your channel recently when one of the pond build videos was recommended to me. But this one has to be my favorite so far!
Isn't it reassuring to know that not one detail of your trip was unknown to God? Think of some of the "bonding" experiences you would have missed with your family if you had been in that spacious RV or had not stayed with family in Longmont. :)
The video of the Estes Park & RMNP area made me feel homesick. I've been out in that area just about every summer since 1966, and when it gets sweltering back here in KC it makes me miss it even more.
And welcome to Kansas. I've driven through a bug storm before and they are not fun. Really makes ya realize how an insect swarm can change things. I have family there in Hutchinson, and my dad grew up about an hour west of there, so I've traveled those roads many a time.
And what a blessing to have a friend so close who could take in your wounded RV and make it right again.
Who knows, maybe your "unplanned" vacation turned out better than your other one would have. :)
Glad to see you salvaged your trip! Wes has an awesome channel and a very helpful person!
That "tow truck driver", needs to find a job he can handle, if he doesn't know to disconnect the drive line before towing anything with an automatic transmission!
It's great to know Good People, Wes is one of them for sure. Glad your vacation turned out as a memorable occurrence.
I asked about towing in neutral no less than 3 times... He made me doubt myself but Wes confirmed what I suspected.
Tow drivers hold all the cards 💸
My thanks to all that helped you and your family have a good vacation.
Neil a jeep would've been more than welcome when I was a kid. We went from Cleveland Ohio to McAllen Texas which amounts to 24 hrs in a Buick Lesabre and those are some of my best memories of vacation across the USA. You're all good man, it's what it's all about!
Hello from the Netherlands Koch Family .
thanks for the video Neil .
Sincerely Hollandduck
What was that on the walkway?
Headless teen? Freaky
Try Mount Washington in NH.
NO edge, straight down.😮
Beautiful, thank you for taking us along.
Thank you Wes and God bless you.
Glad to have met you at Wes’s shop! I’m sad to hear that the tow driver didn’t remove the driveshaft, might have been a simple fix. Awesome to see that you were able to salvage the vacay, good times!
WOW a DDD and WWW crossover event!! Like a dream YT Sunday for me!!!
Great family + Great friends = a Great vacation
Neil, back in the 80's, I did security for a new industrial building on 19th street in Boulder, Co. One day after work, I headed up into the mountains right after work. It was a nice walk that day.
You have good people. Family, friends and followers.
Watch Wes work is one of the best UA-cam channels there is. IMO.
Wes and you Neil are a good team.....oh and your wife and kids as well.
I expect that half-way *down* Pikes Peak you found a whole new level of satisfaction that you fixed the brake problem before that excursion. 😅
Yes absolutely. Knowing that we wanted to do Pikes Peak was all the motivation I needed to get that break done. Surprisingly though, the manual transmission did great coming down the mountain. _Almost_ no brakes!
Thank you and the girls for sharing your vacation with us. The highs and lows. Glad yall had a good time and got to see some of our fantastic country. Thank you Wes and John for helping them out.
Neil, the money you saved on gas, you spent on accommodation.
In the North we use screen on the rad, or a proper bug/summer front , or the rads would be well and truly plugged.
Love the kittens.
I watched Wes's channel first, as I have been following him for a few more years than you.👍
Take care, and best wishes from the far North.
What a great story. Wonderful. This will be one for the campfire for years to come. 😊
Always worth watching. I look forward to every episode.
Yes there is still great people about, and I thank them for their help, so thanks you guys 🎉❤
As a new father, this is the content I need right now. Thank you.
So glad you were able to salvage your vacation and get to the best repair shop possible. Great video!
*Keep on tractoring!*
My goodness you are a man of many talents, and you must attract the same with such talented friends and family as well 😊 I’m a bit jealous
Two of my favorite channels ❤️❤️🇺🇸🇺🇸
Neil, many years ago, my folks and two brothers and I were on vacation from central New Mexico to eastern Pennsylvania, and we were driving a dodge van with a trailer behind, and my mom was driving, got into a bad stretch of highway in St. Roberts, Mo. My mom drifted a bit to the right in her driving and the shoulder dropped off abruptly. She tried to get back on the road, oversteered, and flipped the van, and it got totalled. My dad bought a 74 Buick, and we continued to our destination, and returned without any additional mayhem. It was not easy fitting 5 people in the car, but we did the best that we could. Needless to say, we lost most of our belongings on our trip as the van had flipped and burned. Making the best of things is sometimes all we can do.
Born in Boulder lived in Longmont where I was born! Wes is a pretty awesome guy for sure!
Beautiful scenery! Glad everything worked out for you!
It's so great to have awesome friends in your life to help in when times are tough!
I watch Wes' you tube channel. He is the best. Glad you had a good time.
I went to Colorado Springs in July 1986 for a little vacation. Went back to SD long enough to pack up my stuff and I've been here ever since. Thanks for sharing your trip with us and hope you enjoyed your visit!
Thank you for sharing this. I've been almost every place you and your family went. Brought back memories. So fun
Family, friends and personal networks make all the difference when you need a hand, help or somebody to talk to. Thanks for being there for each other.
Its not the trip its the memories and the people just like you said. What a wonderful story and so glad you shared it with us.
I had never heard of Wes..I watched him working on your rv, liked and subscribed...He is awesome
The more I watch DIG DRIVE DIY. The more I want to move to the states. Love it! 👍
Blackbird is still so amazing I just stare in awe at it everytime I see one in person. Wes is a good dude.
I never would’ve thought my old house was gonna be in your video I used to live in watch Wes works house my dad built the shop there crazy to see things I see every day on your video
Hell of a trip our hero wes 👍👍👍
Neil glad your trip want lost and your right there are good people in this world still
When someone helps someone else… I will subscribe to them :) Great channel @wes!
Got a great laugh at the “in store” hitch hauler assembly!
You’d travel the world over and never find such a family!
TRUELY BLESSED!
It's fascinating how similar you and Wes sound. 8:44 Yikes! Big cast-off from a semi tire. Great to see it all worked out!
Gosh, those are some adorable kitties!
Two of my favourite youtube channels 😀😀😀🇦🇺
Wes is a great guy. You're lucky he was able to fit you in. And his wife is a lovely woman. Did you meet.'Pup'? Best regards from South Wales, UK. 🏴🇬🇧
You have one of the best kindest personalities and seem to be a good dad. I have recently joined your Chanel after seeing the pond. Then you have a jeep. I’m a do it yourselfer type person too. So I joined. But I just wanted to say thank you for being you and inviting us all into your lives. God bless
One of the best channels on the tube!!!! Thanks!
Wow, thanks so much! Very kind of you!
At least u have spare front calipers no lol man u had a rough start to ur trip and u still managed to have a blast I don't know how anybody especially Barbara Streisand can say Colorado is a dump 😮 it's beautiful and Wes and ur family are awesome to help u guys out like that rare to find good people 🤗
I love how you are able to turn out so many obstacles in life to positives and smile on, thanks for bringing us along on your vacation and also a big thanks to Watch Wes work for making it all happen.
Wandering over from Watch Wes Work. Great video, and you now have a new subscriber!
Also, I learned about the acronym for Jeep recently (Just Empty Every Pocket) that seems appropriate, just like Found On Road Dead is suitable for your Ford.
Good job salvaging the trip! Looks like you guys had a blast.
I've come to learn after 35 years, that Illinois can suck the fun out of just about anything.
However, the kids won't forget this vacation. I remember loading into the car for cross county journeys with my folks... they were always fun.
I’m confused as to how my comment should go. You had versions of luck, both terrible and amazing news both with the motor home and the Jeep! So great making lemons into lemonade the whole trip! So great and it looked like you totally made the best of it in Colorado! Going to Wes’ channel right now!
Now that's how you make Lemonade when life gives you lemons!
Thank goodness you had the Jeep with you.
Huge Shout Out to @WatchWesWork for his kindness and generosity!
Huge Shout Out to your cousin for the save and the use of his garage and lift! How cool is it to have a lift in your garage? Did it give you any ideas, Neil?
Colorado looked so pretty. Thank you for taking us with you and your family!
Can't wait to watch the next video! See you in the next one!
P.S. The kittens are adorable and who had the pool party at the pond?
Everyone should have a Mr and Mrs Wes in there friend circle, such genuine people
Sometimes tough breaks bring out the best in everyone, very happy you decided to continue on with your trip and I watched Wes’s video you the trans replacement, what a hoot, but most of all, thanks for sharing your vacation with us and you will definitely remember this one for the rest of your lives.
Awesome video and even better message at the end! Thanks 😊
Awesomeness I watched Wes" video first and now you have a new subscriber. Glad you had a good trip. I"m a truck driver and when I saw the I80 and I76 interchange I said to myself I"ve been there, lol. Colorado has a lot of interesting places to visit. I"m happy everything turned out well for you and your family. Take care and stay safe, God Bless.
Wes's channel is really good. What makes it good is Wes himself. He's a quiet achiever, dry wit, and just a good person. I hope your subscribers give Wes ago. I subscribed to yours because you have a good choice of friends.
Wifey is right ….
head back home
The best hubby- dad on earth saved the day….!
Thank you for sharing precious family moments with all of us. God bless you and God bless your friend Wes.
One of the most white knuckled drives I ever did was Kansas City to Denver. By the time we hit Topeka we were in a blizzard. Withing an hour or so we were passing off ramps right before they were closing them. I had a new 1990 F 250 4x4 with a port fuel injected 460 in it with 33" Mud terrain tires. if there was a gas stating we stopped. It was a white out and every once in a while a tumble weed would blow across the front of the truck and it seemed like the end. I was physically wore out and stopped in Limon Colorado to get a room. Next day there wasn't a cloud in the sky. In 93 the year of the flood I was where the Missouri and the Mississippi meet. Road graders had literally cleared several feet of mud off the roads and the bugs were like small animals smashed om the windshield. The things we do while traveling...
Glad you had a memorable trip = love the comentary and believe you are spot on with your comments. Also so nice you had great help and facilities in the right place to fix your troubles. I lived in Colorado Springs for almost 4 years and worked in Cheyenne Mountain. Was hoping you would have visited the Mountain. The history of that place and what's inside is remarkable. Maybe on your next visit. Looking forward to see if your dad found water to help fill the pond and keep it topped off.
Great video. Welcome to Colorado. We have a beautiful state. To many California's have came here and are now trying to make it Cali east. Love your video. Glad you turned ot around to good.
I came to your channel via Watch Wes Work. Not only is he a brilliant mechanic, who explains everything in a way that anyone can understand and learn all sorts of information from his explanation. Apart from anything with engines I have also seen Wes repair a washing machine, a welder, a generator, a milling machine etc.
I hope the invoice included the following fees. Repair RV - double the cost, RV belongs to a UA-camr - double the cost. UA-camr assisting the repair - double the cost.
My wife would have wanted to call it quits too after the motorhome broke down. If she would have walked past that sign warning of rattlesnakes, she would have been sprinting for Kentucky and yelling over her shoulder for me to keep up.
When you tightened the ratchet strap on the toats you forgot to say “that’s not goin nowhere”. Perhaps the breakdown knocked you off your square…..thanks for making a simple travel video that wasn’t over hyped….just a nice family vacation
Way to salvage the trip !!! You guys are awesome !!
I am a regular Watch Wes Work subscriber and watched the transmission swap on your Class C unit. Went over to your channel and watched your video on same. Picked a few random vids on your chanel to watch and then watched the entire series on your DIY pond. I am very impressed with your excavation skills. You made cutting the contours look easy... you are a master with machinery. Great concept and execution on the pond. Thanks for sharing.
Really enjoyed this video, Neal! You have inspired the wife and myself to head west next year! We live in Southwest Virginia so we are expecting a 4 day drive from my location. Who knows, might run through Indiana on the way home! Thanks again for the great videos!
Great video, glad it all worked out for the trip!
So happy to follow you. I have knowing you as you grew up as a student at Harlan Elementary. I was you School Principal. Thanks for sharing your talents.
Hey so glad to see you on here Butch! (It is still difficult for me to not call you Mr. Bauer!) Hope things are going well for you. Appreciate you checking out the videos.
Enjoyed watching the pond vids and the sights from Colorado, I grew up there. However have to say that Wes refused to work on my truck.
I actually found you because of Wes, I enjoyed your video, and the way you took that crappy situation and hit what appears to be a GrandSlam for a vacation. Great job you earned my subscription.
I appreciate that! Thanks for checking out my channel and welcome aboard!
At least you get to hang out with your family that’s all it’s about stuff brakes long as no one gets hurt it’s fine.
