    This is one of the best Telemann CDs released in 2017 (250 anniversary of his death) Great performance of a very beautiful set of sonatas that deserves to be better known.

    The 6 violin sonatas of telemann are to my opinion among the most delightful pieces I have ever heard.bravo.

    Telemann, such a prolific genius. Handel and Bach both admired and loved him. So much, in fact, that JS Bach made him godfather to one of his sons, the great CPE Bach. I have always been fascinated with his music, in particular his oboe sonatas. In his day, he was the most sought-after and well-paid composer in all of Germany. St. Thomas in Leipzig 'settled' and employed Bach only after Telemann turned the job down.

    Difficult to believe the G Major Adagio harpsichord intro isn't Telemann .. but apparently an improvisation!! .. it's one of the highlights not only of this music but for any accompaniment intro to violin .. (or maybe I shouldn't call it an intro). Telemann s u r e ly would have been proud. Great violin improv there and elsewhere and playing throughout esp the stylist finish like of trills or mordents.

    La musique de ce musicien sensible et torturé vous permet d'errer dans vos pensées, vos rêves, vos cauchemars et les joies du passé. Vous êtes capable de comprendre le sens de votre vécu et ce que votre avenir peut advenir car lorsque l'avenir est sans espoir, le présent prend une amertume ignoble !

      Sounds like Telemann to me.

    • @sameash3153
      @sameash3153 Рік тому +1

      @@Gaul1748 The performers are taking some liberties. For instance, the opening of the second sonata is written in straight sixteenth notes, but the violinist dots the notes to give it a style inegale feeling, though this is not indicated in writing. And several other instances like that in this recording, with wild embellishments, cadenza like passages, and elaborate continuo voicings. So perhaps, because Telemann is often not treated so virtuosically, it might not sound like recordings of Telemann others are familiar with.
      Though to answer the OP, the scores we have are in telemann's hand, and he personally lists these six sonatas in his autobiography. These were all published together as this set, they aren't six random sonatas taken from his catalogue.
