Everything about this is absolutely beautiful. The music, the violin, the setting, the audio and Ms Lodge herself of course. Stunningly beautiful and wonderful.
Wow! Talk about beautiful sounds! I woke up, and before I got out of bed, I listened to this, and it was possibly one of the best videos to wake up to! Relaxing, and a little melancholic. It's almost like a breath of fresh air. Thank you for this amazing video and music!
Amazing music and violinist.👏👏👏 ❤ Just a note: it would be interesting to have some information on the instruments used, precisely to stimulate the interest of future Baroque violinists to match the instrument features with the music played. But oh well, I'm a luthier, my interest is biased😅
@@VoicesofMusic Thank you!! For us luthiers, it is important to have this type of information, very useful for forming a better idea of the sound closest to the original. Lucky player to play such a violin, and of course my compliments to the luthier who made it.🙂
The *only* way to render this music genuinely authentic is to *feel* it in the innermost recesses of your soul, to descend into its moments of sadness while managing to soar into the heights of its sublimity. This is what the great McKay manages to do in this performance.
If I were a powerful man I would force all the inhabitants of the earth to listen to this Passacaglia, maybe performed by Augusta McKay Lodge, I'm sure the world would get better😂 . However, the desired result would certainly not be obtained with imposition. Only when people acquire the awareness and the need to listen to such high-level music can something in the world change.
What an amazing violinist she is!
Must have put in many years of dedicated practice!
Haunting, to be sure. She and Alana Youseffian are outstanding in the VOM. They seem to be away from the West Coast much of the time, unfortunately.
This is such gorgeous violin playing! A thousand thank-yous!
:)
A masterclass violinist!
Bravo!
Seeing this in replay. Ms. Lodge has unleashed a magnificent piece of magic on us. Thank you.

Baroque violin by Jason Viseltear, 2014, after Guarneri del Gesù. 17th c. "Biber" bow by Eduardo Gorr.

Love this music, instantly liked it, even though I've never heard it before. Reminds me of Bach's Chaconne. She plays excellently.
