You get 2 fish in Kilmarnock in Ayrshire in a fish supper as standard, always have done, prices from between £8.50 and £10.00 depending on the chippy. I must admit though the fish are smaller than that and it's Whiting rather than Haddock. What you had there looks excellent and guid value. Ps......you don't get skin on a Chicken Goujon as it's the wee bit underneath the chicken breast ;-) Good video mate , cheers.
It's the same in Fife's "run of the mill" chip shops, 2 pieces of fish as standard and brown sauce "free" with the salt and vinegar. You can usually get a mini supper / pensioners supper if you can only eat one piece of fish.

Just subscribed to you from Ayrshire myself. Would I go all away to Coatbridge to Toni’s ? Yes I probably would do . Looks fantastic. The meal deal could feed 4 people very easily for a family splitting it . Toni is on to a winner. Well done 👍
@@edinburghandbeyondI went up to Coatbridge tonight to Toni’s ( Friday evening) from North Ayrshire ( Dalry) and I had the same meal deal . Managed to get it back home still warm enough in the pizza box & bag . My verdict very very good 10/10 . Fish excellent nice size portions very good batter & breadcrumbs special was fantastic. Chips are good 👍 and mushy peas are ace 👍. Curry sauce and I am not one for having curry sauce with a fish supper but it was great too tasted like Mayflower curry sauce so it’s really nice and got a nice kick to it. Pickled onions very pickled great too . Washed it down with Irn Bru and my partner had Barr’s Cola to drink. We got fritters to try and they were delicious. Staff are lovely fantastic service. Yes it looked really real eatery . The sat nav got us there quickly and easily. If I was in that neck of the woods on the M8 motorway between Glasgow & Edinburgh and feeling peckish I would think of going to Toni’s. Now the box was a lot and we are used to small fish suppers so there’s a lot of food there to serve maybe 3 people. So if a family is struggling and want a treat to share this box may be for them . I throughly recommend it 10/10 overall experience. Deserves award 🥇. Good luck 🤞 Toni .
Nice vlog & review. In the Glasgow & West it’s salt & vinegar - Edinburgh & the East it’s salt & sauce😉 BTW hope the curry sauce didn’t strip the paint off your car bonnet lol! That meal deal looked VERY tasty. Cheers & all the best to Hugh (Shug) at Tony’s👌
@@edinburghandbeyond Before the plastic sachets some chippies in the West did have red & brown sauce available but usually out of sight - you had to ask for it - but at least it was free lol!
Walter Black Foods that manufacture the "Gold Star chippy sauce" is a Glasgow company. As you're probably aware most run of the mill chippy's in Fife will provide "free" brown sauce the same as salt & vinegar. When my late Aunt had several chip shops in Fife in the 1970's, she got her deliveries of Sauce and Pickled Onions from Walter Black, Glasgow. The last time I was in Edinburgh Makro, the Chippy sauce wasn't very expensive for 5 litres. I suppose that it's for the profit that chippy's want to sell sachets of sauce. As a Fifer, I'd certainly rather have fish & chips from Tony's that you have just featured than the award winning Anstruther Fish Bar.

The fish and checken look decent and im local so probably will give it a go . I don't know where you've been getting chippies in the west but you'll struggle to find somewhere that doesn't do the thin vinegary broon sauce you like other than crappy chain shops .
