I would like to thank Michael for taking the time to film, edit and compile this vlog/video reconstructing events of how I was pick pocketed it is important to show how easy this happens and it could happen to anyone. This is not intended to show the beautiful island of Tenerife in a bad light but just to make everyone aware of pick pockets and do not let this stop you coming to the island and once again I thank you Michael.

Superb awareness video Michael well done. This video has impact and very useful tips. I’ve been offline for almost a week because of an internet outage in my area so am catching up on all my favourite vloggers 👍
Well done, Michael, for spreading awareness. Glad Terry is ok. Unfortunately, people sometimes drop their guard on holiday , hopefully by doing this you a are making people think.😊
Hi Michael, great information. Sorry to hear about Tez's experience, he was lucky he had friends to rely on to help him out. Its does beg the question though, if you're out on holiday alone and this happens to you with no friends to help out, how would you go about getting money available to you to spend? Maybe a follow up video you could make with some options. Loved your Tenerife charity vlogs. We're flying out for a month next week, meeting up with Tim and Webby. All the best Alan and Michelle ❤
great to hear the full story Micheal. But been more so that Terry is okay.We heard exactly the same in Barcelona when we were there.I carry a shoulder bag but it is front facing and is higher on my chest
Thanks Michael for highlighting this unfortunate issue. We were pickpocket victims twice over the years despite thinking we were careful. Once each in Madrid and Beijing ,different parts of the globe but the same distraction technique. Thanks to yourself Michael and Tez for highlighting the issue.
Sorry Terry to have an awful experience on your holiday. Glad you are not harmed. Good of Mike to put the word out. Hopefully more people see and aware of these pick pocket people.
I had similar incident, 3 days ago very close to where you are, different technique used, fingers in front trouser pocket, luckily nothing lost, 2 people involved that i know off.
I live on Tenerife...The pickpockets have always been here ,as they have been in every resort and every major city for CENTURYS....This is not a new problem anywhere .so im not sure why Tenerife is always in the spotlight for it !! There are more here in winter as they come like the swallows to warmer climate ,and its full of folk wandering around with their guard down cos they are on holiday! Even as a resident i take precautions when walking around town.....such as were suggested in the video......bags to the front ,be aware of your surroundings.....If you go out as a pair or a group ,STAY TOGETHER.....the antelope that wanders off from the herd gets eaten !!
When I was living in Bothwell in Scotland with my mum and dad a few years ago I was on my bike and someone took my bag i am still terrified to go out on my own
My 1st holiday to benidorm when I was 18 our apartment got broken into less than 2hrs after arriving. We put our stuff in and went to out to see the area and came back to everything gone. Luckily one of my friends parents came for a holiday with us. We think it was the caretaker because there was no damage to the front door or the outer door....which we definitely locked because I missed the lift waiting on my friend locking it all
Hi Michael , so sorry for Terry, great to hear Friends to help out , I did see a Blog a few months ago , can’t remember his name, but he was going from one hotel chain to another in Benidorm , his passport was stolen from him, obviously he dosnt normally carry it but was going to a different chain to do a Vlog, u need photo idi at new hotel so other chain sent it on to the other chain Hotel, ended up appointment at Embassy at Alicante to get paper work to fly home , think it cost just £100, but it’s the Stress and inconvenience etc etc , all the best for Terry cheers
Sorry to hear of ur bad experience. This happened to my husband about 20 years ago in daylight in PDLA. Leave bags and wallets in safe. Take enough cash to cover what u need. They work in gangs change tops and hats etc. hubby now wears a money belt inside of trousers or shorts. It is well documented police are not interested if under a certain amount.
Another thing I'm dubious of is leaving money in hotel room safe. As quite a few hotels I've stayed in over the years have had the safe removed from the wall when quests returned to room.
Can't believe we were pick pocketed yesterday 😡😡😡 We've been so careful and conscious of people around us but they took my husband's wallet yesterday in Costa Adeje 😡😡😡
Sorry to hear this. It happened to me 2years ago. I lost 160 euros, debit card and a credit card. Luckily I had another credit card and the rest of my cash in the hotel room safe and so was able to carry on with my holiday. The lesson I’ve learned is don’t take your wallet with you. Just take what cash you need for the day and maybe one card. It hasn’t put us off going to Tenerife. It can happen anywhere. Just take great care where you store things on your person
Hope Tez is ok that's very bad what happened. It can happen anywhere. I don't think those carry bags are safe as a gang could easily rip if off you and run off. Wearing shorts/ jeans with zipped pockets front side rear safer and only carry some cash and 1 card in different pockets or even a secret place inside a shirt etc safer and try and be with someone when out if possible
Sorry this has happened to you Tez. Please be aware folks that on Amazon there are rucksack locks you can purchase. Hoping we can stop the sh*ts from taking what doesn’t belong to them. Stay safe everyone xx
