Thank you very much!
Every man and woman working in this place is fantastic and very nice to all the patients!❤....but Dr. Emma and Dr.Jonathan is nearest to my heart!❤
Dr Emma & Dr Sarah were absolutely amazing with Michelle.
I love that in AU they seem to throw ketamine at everything lol (compared to the US at least). it looks like it can be an amazing help!
In the US, the war on drugs made it so we all have to be "tougher"
This is such a great actual reality show!
dr emma is an awesome Dr . she comes across as if she's been in the military she's precise !
I'm not usually one to say someone can't be something, but Michelle should really consider if nursing is the right path for someone terrified of blood and needles.
I don’t agree. I’m also a nursing student and for a year and a half I also had a extreme blood and needle phobia. My school and classmates were very supportive and I worked with a therapist to slowly overcome this fear. If it’s my blood or a needle going into me I’m still scared, but anything to do with patients doesn’t bother me anymore. It’s very possible to overcome, as silly as it sounds!
@@makenzieward9147 fair enough 😊 Thanks for the insight and I'm glad you were able to overcome your phobia!
@@makenzieward9147 Same boat with the needle phobia, it is much easier when the needle end isnt facing me though. And if you think about it it makes you more cautious of sharps injuries, still haven't gotten one yet but definately would have if I wasnt so cautious.
I disagree. I used to pass out at the thought of significant amounts of blood. I just finished up my 6th year working in intensive care, doing all sorts of things I never imagined I'd be capable of. Nursing has desensitised me significantly over time.
Totally disagree! I’m afraid of needles directed at me…but was a paramedic for many years. I had no issue with sticking someone else or even seeing gruesome trauma.
Amazingly kind and compassionate Doctors! Here in the States a Doctor would never hold your hand when you are in pain and scared ...
If cameras were filming I bet they would then
Really ?that is sad.i'm Australian . My wife nearly bled to death a few years ago after the site of a stomach operation ulcerated and she started vomiting and crapping straight blood . The paramedics raced her and i to hospital in an ambulance and she needed seven prints of blood, a large dose of adrenaline and emergency surgery to save her. The nurses and doctors were extremely kind to both of us. The nurses held her hand and strokec her head while they put a tube down her throat and a large cannula in her groin. She was crying in pain and fright. I stayed with her as much as i could and when she went to surgery they sent me up to the recovery ward. Because it started at night i hadn't eaten dinner yet. The nurse up at recovery led me off to a long comfortable lounge and gave me heated blankets and a frw soft pillows and Said to me its going to be a long night, please try to get some sleep. They bought me sandwiches and a cup of tea. The surgeon went out of his way to come and advise me of what was going on,once things had stabilized. I also visits from the nurse several times. She sat with me a talked to me doing her best to console me. I was terrified id lose my beautiful lady. They didn't lie to me but told me it was an extremely serious situation but their professionalism and dedication bought me some confidence in the outcome. She was a week in hospital and spent a few weeks in bed at home. Apart from car parking, after hospital medications and internet access it was all free. Ive had 3 operations in the same hospital and between all of them it was less than $1000. Our public hospitals are pretty good and most of the staff are outstanding. At least in my experience
I've had doctor's hold my hand here in the States
Does anyone know if there will be a Season 4 of Emergency AU? Have seen all the episodes ,,,,
There is! They are currently on season 5, which premiered in early November of 2024.
Thank you Dr. Emma
For everyone having a crack at Michelle for her fear of needles and blood you would be amazed at how many medical professionals are frightened by the sight of blood as you become more used to it the sight of it won’t horrify you once she’s had more time in nursing school she will probably learn to cope and deal with her fears
My aunt (a pediatric nurse) is scared of needles and blood. It’s worse when it’s someone she cares about. But she also was the one to jump in the medical waste (stupid idea we all know this) to get a stuffed animal for a child. She stayed by my side and changed dressings and loads of stuff from various injuries and car accidents.
I hope she is successful.
Yeah people adapt with experience. My dad was a senior officer in the fire service. Plenty of firemen were squimish at their first motor vehicle accident. After a few they got over it usually
I appreciate that Michelle does not blame the horse for her accident. She should consider another career, though! The guy with the seizures should not be allowed to drive, his daughter and others could have been killed!
You guys are heroes
Amazing bedside manner for michelle!
Thank ALL of You Doctors for what You do.
I have A-FIBS ALOT, and the Nurse in the ER says, is it Okay? I just say, do the Hokey, Pokey. 😆
For the Needles.
30:41 destroys sterilization of whole ppe 😂 5 second rule does not apply to the trauma bay lol
Michelle said she wanted to be a school nurse because of her fear of blood and needles. I wouldn't want her as my child's school nurse. My son's have all ended up in the nurses office bleeding over the years and they benefitted from a calm, together school nurse! I can't imagine how some of those visits would have gone with a phobic nurse.
Exactly. If her handling of this situation is anything to go by, she'd faint before being able to help a child.
Many people are only afraid if their own blood and needles in their body. My sister is terrified of getting stuck herself, but is fine seeing needles.
If I was Michelle's doctor I would ask her why she bothered comj ing to the ER, once she states she doesn't want treatment. Sheesh! I'm glad the doctors are sooo good
There are thousands of nursing positions who never see trauma situations not do they handle needles. And those positions are just as important and needed in nursing. 🎉😊
I really wish more nurses in US were this compassionate
I really feel for Michelle❤ ...I would react just like her.
For Michelle, there are topical numbing meds that are applied with a swab, then they could inject her.
They should offer that to everyone before anything is done like this I hate needles so much
Yeah but they usually take around an hour to take effect and it’s an ER not a scheduled appointment
I wonder whether they ever use lidocaine? It's a decent numbing agent.
The sad thing is, the horse would be horrified about causing her so much pain. Horses do experience guilt.
Michelle can't be a nurse. What was her school counselor thinking? She lives a life of fear.
I can attest that the horse , if it IS thinking about Michelle is merely hoping that it shall be fed on time .
I'm a European Government Licensed Trainer/ instructor , clinician , consultant
I caution you that horses do not have the same cognizant abilities as a human .
@@brooksequine7621 you are probably right, however as you are not actually a horse, I think it's best to keep an open mind on the topic. I think while they may not feel guilt, they do have a sense of something having gone wrong and the owner being upset.
Ridiculous to say Michelle can’t be a nurse because of her fear of needles. I was a paramedic for many years. I had no problems poking patients or seeing horrific injuries. I’m afraid of needles…more specifically, local anesthetic. This past February, my dogs leash tore my ring finger off at the middle joint. I was so thankful the emergency room GP listened to me without making me feel like an idiot when I told them I didn’t want to know they were putting a local anesthetic in the base of my finger. They already knew the injury was excruciating and immediately gave me versed. I don’t remember any of it. They did reattach my finger but it failed and was taken off 6 weeks ago and healed very well. A fear of needles directed at oneself is quit different that using needles on someone else.
Fran certainly doesn't look 79. I'm glad she rallied and made a great recovery.
I had shots between my toes for a foot procedure. I don't envy that poor girl getting shots between her fingers.
Student nurse terrified of needles and blood! How does that work?
Question that’s bugging me. I’m a former EMT from the states. Are those SOFT cervical collars on them from the ambulance? They’d might as well use a towel. It gives minimal support!
Terrible when you are a know all
and that's why you are a 'former EMT' and not a Surgeon #nuffsaid
Tell me you shouldn’t be a nurse without telling me you shouldn’t be a nurse. Poor thing
My 9 year old had the finger nerve block twice, with no pain relief 😅 he didnt even cry.
He detatched the nail from the nail bed and was stitched up in the ed
John's eyes have seen things.
Question: How does a woman manage her periods if she has a phobic reaction to blood??😮
Why approach from right hand side I wonder?
Because all the activity, equipment and the nurses and techs are on the left. 🎉
She is a nursing student but can't look at her own finger's .How will she do her job?
It’s totally different when it’s your own injury. I become faint if I see my blood being taken or an IV being inserted. However - totally fine when it’s someone else’s blood or IV.
She won't last
AND the narrator said she had a blood phobia and a needle phobia! I hope she learns some self-help techniques to cope better.
You’d be surprised how many doctors and nurses actually hate the sight of certain things it takes time but people will develop a desensitisation to the sight of blood and honestly seeing your own blood can be nauseating so it’s not a representation of if she will last
I’m a vet nurse and can’t deal with the sight of my own blood but am perfectly fine dealing with my patients. I also had a needle phobia when I first started but now I’m 10yrs in and it’s completely gone now! She will be able to overcome it in time and exposure!
uhm 10:32 how can you be a nurse if you have a blood phobia/ needle phobia?????? Being uncomfortable is one thing, but being totally paralyzed by the sight of it?
God, speaking as an epileptic, John was seriously irresponsible. There’s a reason why they take away your license. He seems so nonchalant about endangering his and many other lives.
Omg a nurse being so scared of an / her injury + scared of needles 😂😂😂 how?? In would be so interested of it 😂 would wanne know all they were doing 😅 (wanted to become a nurse so bad)
What's wrong with the left-hand side?
That's crazy my DL is on a medical hold in Florida for one incident wtf guess I need to relocate
My guess is that he’s never admitted to having seizures to anyone until this accident. I lived in Australia, when I was young, and it’s super hard to get a drivers license. I’ve never known anyone in the US to fail their drivers test but most of the people I knew in Australia had failed theirs a couple of times. 😂 You also have to have a special license plate for the first year that tells everyone else on the road that you’re a new driver.
@@raeperonneau4941 omg really a different color license plate that's crazy. Have you heard the law that passed here in Florida people that have committed certain crimes against children are gonna have to have a neon green license plate. I am not sure when it goes in effect but it's true..
@@justiceforsavi You don't have a different license plate, but rather 'L' or 'P' plates that you stick on.
L stands for learner, and at least in NSW is a black L on a yellow background. You have to stay on your Ls for a year, and do 120 driving hours, with a full license holder with you at all times.
After you pass the driving test, you then go on to your red Ps, which means you can drive unaccompanied, but still have a 90kmph (not mph) speed limit and other restrictions.
After you've had that for a year, you can go on to your green Ps with a fair bit more freedom (100kmph speed limit). You have to have them for two years before you can get your full license.
John needs to lose his license and Michelle needs to pick a new profession.
John was in another video on here.
That wanna be nurse lives her life in fear. I hope she can get some therapy to overcome her phobias.
again two the same epsisodes season 01
stop blurring things out
Oh dear Michelle, go be a support worker it might be less scary for you, and you’ll still be about to care for someone In need.
Being an ex-nurse I think Michelle should re-think her career path. Needles & blood are part of a nurse’s life.
Michelle is really frustrating to watch. Almost agitating me, a nursing student my god 😮
so many horse related injuries in this show lol
This lady is NOT a candidate to be a nurse period.
That nursing student was a big baby and idk why she’s in nursing school let alone made it far considering the skills everyone needs to learn in nursing
stop with the judgements, you don’t know what her final decision will be
If they are going to ct why do they persist in rolling the patient and pressing on the spine . It seems a bit redundant.
That’s why you’re not a doctor or nurse thankfully 😅
They do it because initially assessing that area would give them an indication if they actually need to scan the area further more if a patient had a big cut or something well you won’t see that on the scan so you need to roll them and assess if there are any injuries there that they need to look for that’s why they press and roll them on the side
It would be better for Michelle to not work in a medical setting
She might be better in administration, doing paperwork and telephone calls
I wonder how so many people become phobic regarding blood/needles?? I am not criticizing, I just wonder. 😊
Michelle out to try psyc nursing. No blood, very few, if any, needles
She needs to sort out her own psychiatric issues first.
regular use of needles in inpatients. But community not so much
Ketamine does zero for my pain.
Really, nursing school? What she thinks she going to do bing a nurse? Clean balcony’s? Stay on the fone all the time? Cleaning beads? 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂
She needs to choose another career.
I am thinking Michelle needs to really re-think being a nurse ... I would hate for her to waste precious time on a career path that doesn't suit her..
But , perhaps Michelle is choosing this career choice in order to face & overcome her fears ....
nursing is a waste of time for that lady... why spend all that time doing something that will involve your phobias????
This is the HR dept's fault. They should do aptitude tests before appointing staff.
@@alidabotes6264 Or people can use a bit of logic and reasoning before making decisions.
Dunno about that. I work with spiders in the dark at great heights and I find it very fulfulling.
I don't like needles even though I would say I have had injections in my spine that many times I forget, I have had needles to draw off fluid etc, epidural steroid injections and inject dye into my spine prior to back surgery. I wouldn't say blood and I are best friends but if I needed to help someone who was bleeding etc I would be able to cope, although might pass out or be shaking once adrenaline wore off. If she doesn't like blood then how does she cope every month with her period. 😂 I don't think anyone would say they love needles but I think she should rethink her career choice.
If Michelle will not let them give her a pain injection, then wash the injury out without it. I have little sympathy for adults who pull the I’m afraid of needles BS. Especially if she chosen to go into nursing. How ridiculous.
