Read the other comments here. Frothy also mentions that the nerf wasn't all that hard in a response. It's mostly relative to opinions, though, and, from what I've seen, a lot of people like to overreact to changes.
"Seriously, just shoot 2-3 times, then shoot rockets, repeat until Salvo Core. Wash, rinse, repeat. BOOM! Top of the leaderboard with most Titan damage and kills. That's literally it, video over."
Ashkan Malayeri Well, if you think about it, Ion has multiple playstyles. You could focus on cornering your opponenet, and then decimating them with tripwires and splitter rifle, or you could use her to poke titans from range. also there is the fact that Ion requires power management. That alone makes Ion a much higher skill cap than tone. Ill admit, both titans are easy to play, but come on, Tone is so much more borong than Ion. Ions laser core is possibly the most satisfying in the game. Also, if you hate playing Ion, you obviously havn't bullied a legion before with an amped vortex shield. All Im saying is that sure, tone is just as affective as Ion... But shes so fucking boring to play. I actually have only played about 10 matches with Tone and I got bored so fast, i thought i was getting sick of the game. But as soon as I hopped into Northstar or Ion, i had a blast. Tone is for people who want to be good at the game, rather than have actual fun.
Ashkan Malayeri lol, playtime means nothing though. Just because my Kraber is generation 4 doesnt mean im good with it. Although with as much practice ive had, I am better with most. Im not trying to say tone takes no skill, but i personnaly have no fun playing him. His kit is just to simple to be fair. Also the reason I dont like legion.
I feel people's problem with Tone isn't that she's necessarily overpowered; she's just easy to use. As with a lot of games, most of the complaints I see for Tone are less her actually being a problem and more people not wanting to adapt or learn new strategies. I won't pretend she's not extremely powerful, but playing as Tone almost exclusively it's sort of baffling what people don't do when fighting me. So many people just pretend the rockets aren't even a thing and try tanking them. And then I'll fight people who do know what to do, and it makes Tone feel a lot weaker. Still good, but not broken as many would lead you to believe, and fighting these sorts of people actually requires you to think a little more (such as timing when to shoot your rockets or properly curving them around cover).
I think it's also that fighting tone is really really boring. Every other titan requires alot of thought to play or fight against, fighting tone is annoying for all titans and especially pilots. God forbid you're playing a ogre chassis. Tone will just camp you out until you rush them down or run
the nerf did almost nothing, salvo core still destroys and is viable at all ranges and most environments, the projectile size is still big, and thats about all they changed. Still S+, brainless titan.
The Particle Wall > Melee tip is really good along with the splash damage applying locks and aiming your rockets upwards before firing. Lots of people wouldn't be aware of those.
All of that could really be explained as just tips and none of it is essential. Not to mention anyone paying any amount of attention would know these things pretty quickly after player her for a bit. Any 40mm damage gives locks. Why wouldn't splash damage from them give it as well? Pretty obvious. Also the salvo core thing is also a pretty infamous tactic.
@@loveblues9633 Every titan maybe shoot shoot till core but they have a unique way to get the abilities (Unlike Tone or Legion [i still like Legion]) except for Ronin, which is shoot, slash, and block
Here's a strategy I've adopted when it comes to keeping my Titan alive longer. Run with Emergency Battery and use Arc Grenades and Low Profile, then let the enemy call in his Titan, and take its battery. If you didn't have your Titan fully ready to drop, you certainly would now. Then you get your Titan, a free battery, and a spare one when your shield goes down. My Tone would last so long, I would only lose my Titan nearing the end of the match.
Storm I do that a lot as well. Since I've discovered the grappled message people get, I've had more success in getting titans and surviving in it a long time.
As for Titan kits, I normally run with Turbo Engine, Nuclear Ejection, and Overcore. For Tone's specific kits, I normally run with Enhanced Particle Wall (Though, not as often as I used to.) and Rocket Barrage.
Frothy no offense, but..... I'm more of a Tricky Acid fan. He's just funny! I mean, sure, I would LOVE to play a game of attrition With you ( on my side ) but I would like to play with tricky acid, HCF or iniquity better.
The best guide video I've ever seen for any game, PERIOD. Great video Frothy you just got a new subscriber. Keep it up you have me very good information and taught me how to use Tone much more effectively. THANK YOU.
Did the same about a month ago and I ended up playing Apex exactly one more time and then uninstalling the game, there's just no situation where I would play it over Titanfall 2
I will admit, apex is an ok game, but titanfall is a lot faster paced than apex. There’s a lot more to experience in the combat department, rather than like three 5 second fights the entire 15 minute game. And the rest of it you’re running/looting. There’s a hell of a lot more to enjoy.
Hey frothy, with the particle wall damage thing, I think that every titan defensive ability just has a multiplier that causes it to fall extremely fast to cores. For example, ion's vortex shield loses power immediately when hit with a salvo core, same with scorch's thermal shield. I think it's purposely done by the devs so that cores can't just be completely negated by defensive abilities.
As a tone main, I get hated a lot. I feel that tone is hated because of the fact that her 40 mm is pretty broken, and the salvo core as well.however Tone is very easy to counter from my perspective, Ronin, And Scorch I find most effective as a counter. Even though I Main Tone, I hate the splash damage on the 40 mm, it’s a tracking weapon, and it’s shouldn’t be that good. I like tone because it all nails down to one thing: Getting locks. I always like the idea of getting a lock on SOMTHING before firing or shooting it. Ion is also a good counter. I also use tone at medium range and not try to be one of those people that hunt down pilots and titans using sonar lock. I get a lot of hate when I play as tone in the game chat. They should nerf the salvo core as well, it feels dirty when I deal that amount of damage. But I like using Salvo core on groups of titans, so I can deal splash damage to each titan. I love tone because of the lock on gimmick, not that I get kills with her. I also love the executions, they look really cool in my opinion. But I think they should nerf Tones splash damage on the 40 mm, and nerf the salvo core so that it deals less damage on impact. Either way, Tone is my favorite titan still. Cant change my mind.
nothing wrong with that, you should just play whatever you have fun with regardless of what other people think. I mean I'm a ronin/northstar main and fighting tone is one of my favorite matchups since I like the feeling of dodging rockets. The matchup is fun once you know how to dodge tone rockets and tone has counterplay since the way to dodge them depends on the angle the tone fires the rockets.
Ok, I've been one of the biggest supporters of the Tone nerf, and now that it has happened I hope that it will allow the pilots who main Tone to continue to be amazing. I hate the thought of a Titan or gun being made into a nerf launcher when it only needed a minor change. If you put the time into a Titan and master it you should be allowed to beat the shit out of the kid who only plays every once and a while. TOO WRAP UP, I hope this nerf separates the ones who put in effort with the Tone and the ones who just spammed the hell out of the missile launcher. ❤A Legion pilot.
Even before the nerf I felt it was fair for pilots. You treat a titan looking at you like you would the pilot sentry, fucking run before it shoots you it's your fault if you let it see you long enough to aim and shoot you.
Marcus Smith Ehhhh? I think you misunderstood what I was trying to say here. I was saying that the Tone is the easiest Titan to use and that anyone can pick it up and destroy easily. I hope that the nerf fixes that problem making it so that it actually requires some finesse to pull off the cool stuff.
Always like the content you present, and the manner in which you do so. I am still fairly new to Titanfall 2, and would really like to see a presentation on the RODEO action (basic mechanics, usage, hints, tactics, vs. opposition, support for team, etc. - in other words, a complete picture of it). Thanks again for all that you do for the Titanfall community!
Great guide. It's useful to point out that when trying to be efficient with tracking rockets, more rockets are fired for each lock so if you have one titan at 3 and one or two others at 2 locks it's sometimes worth it to get more locks in that tracking rocket burst rather than immediately launching.
I Loved your mastering Titans series. Before the videos all I would do is play tone. Now I main ronin and gave fun playing all the other titans as well thanks to you +FrothyOmen. I can't wait to see what other videos you make. Keep up the good work fella!!
I feel as tone was a Titan that lacked a bit of skill to use, but now that the nerf patch came I really feel like this will really show who uses skill for this Titan based on how easily you kill them -Love an ION pilot
As someone who mains tone, this guide is really gonna help me hone in her potential. Thanks frothy! P.s. To anyone thinking im a scrub for saying that, plz take note that I'd kick anyone's ass with all the other titans just as well as with tone. Have a good day! 😊😊😊😊
After 3 years it's sad to see people still hating on tone like she's the most broken titan ever when honestly monarch is wayyy more toxic. Tone can be a bit of a nuisance but has easy counterplay. STOP HATING ON TONE. She really isn't that bad anymore. I honestly would rather fight a team of tones than a team of monarchs.
@@runfast4244 a lot is wrong with her, the fact is that her play style is so vastly different from the rest of the Titans makes her a lot harder to use. She can have more health than a fucking ogre titan, steal a battery on execution, deal a shit ton of damage with the xo16 accelerator, and it’s wayyy too easy to kill pilots with her
@@runfast4244 Yeah, but with battery boost and shield, they're super easy to survive with by default, and arc rounds are busted lol. That's a first core, and after that they're already incredibly hard to stop. They have a hitscan weapon that isn't slow as hell so they can take out pilots incredibly easily, and having the shield ability stun is also massive.
As an option to play tone against tone is to wait while enemy tone drops wall. Then dash forward behind his wall and punch him. Then drop your wall. In this way you obtain one wall in front of you and one behind.
Scorch is a soft check to Ronin, not a counter. Any somewhat competent Ronin knows not to walk into the big fire thing in front of them, while being able to keep effective distances for its shotgun,
I’ve currently a 57regen on this game and your tips for pilots/titans have shown me things I would never have thought of doing. I look forward to using these tips.
If I'm playing Northstar and a Tone throws up a particle wall, I just shoot my cluster missile at it. People seem to forget that it still does damage when you're standing next to it so I've managed to deal tons of damage to tone. As for the post update? Tone is interesting. The smaller 40mm hit box was definitely noticeable as I seemed to miss a lot of my shots when taking on pilots, but I quickly adjusted. The sonar cooldown time seems WAY too long in my opinion and the Salvo Core...I didn't notice much of a difference to be honest. I took an Ion from full health to doomed with my salvo core yesterday so... Overall Tone seems to be okay. Just my opinion.
ya know, as a tone main, i LOVE burst loader. it's really fun instantly puncturing three bullets into a titan at the same time as one, followed by tracking rockets. admittedly, it really does suck against pilots.
I know a lot of people are saying this guide is useless because Tone is brain-dead, but this guide helped me understand footsies with her Particle Shield, and it helped me understand how to use her. Thank you!
Maybe it’s just me, but I think Tone is balanced currently (in 2020). Ronin is my go-to when I see consistent Tone players, and I become their Kryptonite as soon as I see them. Just use sword block and phase dash and then throw an arc wave in, goes straight through their shield and bust them up with the Leadwall.
Really appreciate your work. You take a craftsman like approach to these guides. They are always comprehensive and entertaining. I am subscribing as I write this and look forward to your future content!!!
Don't know if this is crazy or not... but, I think Scorch should have two shots in his launcher and maybe and kit for 3 or something. This will make him a better minion killer and better against other titans. The devs should play with and test the damage output to make sure nothings op. And maybe mess with the cooldown times for his other abilities. As for ronin he needs a few more shots in his primary as well. Similarly, balance the damage output too. Maybe slightly more health. His blocks, arc wave, and mobility are already great. And some kind of buff for northstar for her minion killing output, maybe a sharper reticle, and slightly more health but, not a much a ronins since she has awesome damage output from long ranges. I dont think it would be too difficult to bring the other titans up to par against tone and maybe ion. As for the game, I think it will be amazing by the end of its life cycle even if it has low player count and I have great hopes for titanfall 3. That is where they really need to show us everything they've learned. Step up the graphics, have more map variety, separate maps for pilots versus pilots.. (still have titan mode maps as well in the playlist), more titans, more weapons, more abilities, bring back old maps again (angel city was incredible the first time i played it), and last but not least get more customization into the game. Thats what keeps the cod players goin back for more. And, a few more things I cant think of right now. But anyways, Titanfall really will be something very special one day... I know it. ***Like this so frothy and the devs see this if you agree and reply with opinions.
"Know your enemy" is the best advice. I love Tone, but I forced myself to play all the Titans to regen to know how they work. It's a lot of fun and I learned that Northstar is beststar.
Cores do significant bonus damage to defensive abilities in order to make them harder to counter. This allows you to disable both flame and vortex shield.
To your point about laser core dropping particle wall, I've noticed that with other abilities too. For instance, if you try and block shots from a Legion's Smart Core with an Ion or Scorch shield, the shield drops way faster than normal. I'm assuming this is intentional on Respawn's part, all the defensive abilities seem to suffer from this. Legion's gun shield is a possible exception - maybe this is just post patch but last night I felt like I could block almost all of a Salvo Core with that. it's possible my opponent just missed, but this happened more than once, so I'm not sure.
salvo core is the exception to the exception, lol. It rips through vortex/inferno shield but does nearly nothing to bulwark gun shield or enhanced particle wall.
Gotcha. Now that you mention it, I need to try Legion out some more to confirm, but I feel like smart core doesn't knock particle wall down very well either.
Yea I use ion allot and noticed this four times after patch to in a little time spence there so many legion when legion gets smart core and uses it I put my vortex shield up with increased damage kit to run away and it just goes down in 2 seconds with like full energy thing pls explain
This isn't a post-patch problem, Austin. Smart core and salvo core have always shredded vortex shield and inferno shield. Like Frothy said, it might be a bug, but since Respawn hasn't said anything at all about it, I actually assume it's done on purpose. Vortex and inferno shield can be kept up for such a long duration that if they worked normally against core abilities, you could completely tank an enemy's core, which I don't think would be well-balanced either.
Lots of people don't realize, but using sonar lock when you can't get shots on the enemy is great I.E. if a titan is running or has a shield ability up, hide and fire your sonar for a "free" lock
Auto loader is great for SNIPER TONE! Since northstar is basically a counter to tone's particle shield; autoloader can assist you in "sniping" back! It changes the gameplay slightly, but like the other kits for every Titan, it changes the game in a fun new way!
Quick question Frothy, since you talked about using the strategy of footies with people approaching your partial wall (and using electric smoke with that), would you consider the extra smoke perk as a potential strategy? Just thinking about options here.
Sure, Tone is sort of weak at point blank so that would help shore up the weakness. It's not an awful pick, but not one that I would personally go for.
Your videos are awesome! I play on PS4 and I have learned so much of meta and tactics about this game just from your videos. Especially these mastering themed videos have made me respect every titan and I have now played everyone of them at least on g2 level. Thx so much Frothy!
One more thing after live fire I played and I found a enemy team with two legions two tones and a North Star and the tone put up like tone kit particle wall while legion did damage and reloading before it went down and after the particle wall went Down legion used shield and did damage and then dashed behind cover and reloaded and the enemy team did this twice a round with a North Star snipping frothy pls explain how to counter this ion legion maybe scorch with load out I don't know
As a Tone main I can say that Pulse Blade Echo is the best Tone kit because it allows you to play mind games with your enemies.Since a lot of players have learnt to counter Tone by counting locks, your opponent is completely unprepared for the extra lock that you somehow conjured out of nowhere. My tactic is: Sonar Blade, 40 mm, Particle Wall, Rockets. You can repeat this a second time, but I wouldent count on it. Follow this up with a Salvo Core, (Which you have earned via Battery Back Up and Overcore) to finish the first titan off and to heavily damage the Ronin who is definately in your face and spamming his sword. Pop electric smoke and rinse and repeat.
I don't think you give burst loader enough credit. I've found a lot of players getting smarter about peeking/playing footsie against Tones (which can be a nightmare to deal with depending on map) and against pilots who keep peeking shots. Burst loader lets me get an advantage on their next "peek" (helped by seeing when they peek with Sonar shot). It changes both pilots and Titans from feeling they can outplay/outmaneuver Tone by weaving in/out of walls/cover - they think they can peek me for damage while only taking one 40mm, but instead they eat all 3 and now I have a full lock. This will help even more against Pilots when 40mm projectile size is nerfed.
So what role is Tone supposed to play? I've genned her, and I still don't know. She's bulky with decent mobility and burst damage. Bulky sniper, is that even a role? If anything Tone seems like a support class to me, but she was given damage to carry games by herself.
A titan whose sole purpose is to massacre other titans. That's the role. The problem is that Tone is too good at also being able to massacre pilots and minions.
FrothyOmen I completely disagree that the role is needed or fits Tone. Tone's cannon and map hack makes her one of the best pilot killers. Tone suffers against Ronin and Ion as well, meaning a solely anti-titan role is unlikely.
MrAgentIncognito as a tone pilot I would say tone is best at mid range sticking to cover and your particle wall. give Ronin space and use turbo engine to move out of the way of their sword if they get too close
As an Ion main, Tone is one of my favorites to fight against for the fun factor. My favorite thing about Titanfall 2 multiplayer is the rivalries and interplay created between titans and Ion VS Tone is my absolute favorite.
So I know the Particle Wall is great, but why don't I see Tones using that AND physical cover right behind it to protect their poking? Last time I checked Particle Walls can be destroyed and actual Walls can't :] (Real life walls can though, obligatory trump comment armor~)
I just recently started playing TF/2 and fell in love with tone. Hesitant to watch any videos because I truly wanted to experience a 10yo game for the first time on console. Tone has gotten me out of every situation I find, scorch? Wall and theyre useless. North Star camping, fire a good dart and at least 3 shots, and the mini rockets finish them off
I've found that playing as a support version of Tone is rather fun. While it is infuriating for the opponent, it's not toxic. Try using the shield to protect your allies instead of constantly dropping it for personal gain.
As someone who just picked up the game (I didn't get the chance to play it before the ddos cuz I had a potato pc), I wholeheartedly thank you for this guide. ❤
Don't bother leading unless they are super far away, and if they are far away you probably shouldn't be shooting at them with a close-mid range weapon anyways unless they are stationary (Which means you don't need to lead your shot, to begin with). Took me far too long to realize the missiles move really fast so there's not much need to lead your shots. Just run the Extra Ammo and faster Reload perks and you're set. Oh and don't bother with a Anti-Titan weapon. The SMR is pretty much on par with titan weapons in that department anyways unless they are far away. Also, unlike the other Grenadier weapons, staying up high is not recommended. You should stay level with the player since this has very little splash effect, so you want to keep the hitbox as large as possible by staying level with the player.
Ali Essa nah he isn’t a try hard noob it’s just cuz ur so bad at Titanfall 2 that u can’t figure out that almost every Titan can counter her if u play ur cards right
Frothy if your there I love your i stared watching your vids a week after titanfall 2 came out and I watched almost all of them your the best titanfall 2 you tuner with stat testing I just wachted the tone vid it was great
I tested the "new" Tone last night and while the 40mm reduction is definitely noticeable, I didn't see how they nerfed salvo core. That thing still destroys anything in its way... except Legion's gun shield.
That was my analysis as well. Admittedly I did miss a TON of my 40mm shots first game with her after the nerf, but I managed to adjust. Sonar pulse cooldown seems to take FOREVER now (making me swap out my Sonar Pulse kit), but I'd have to agree about Salvo Core. I doomed a full health Ion with my SC yesterday.
I struggle to notice a difference as well. Same goes for Devotion and Hemlok, tbh. The latter was never particularly good on PC and Devotion is just as annoying as before. I had to double-check whether the nerfs were actually in effect or not.
I did notice a difference with the Hemlock but I noticed a TON of Devotions being used yesterday. And I used it myself and I didn't seem to notice a difference.
i highly recommend over core for tone, i m a tone nerd which my tone is already G9 and the rest of my titans have no higher than lv6, the reason recommend over core is because tone's biggest advantage or highest dps weapon is his core, why not take maximum advantage to others? also use ur pulse more, is a really good ability for both offense and defense
I hate how everybody says tone is so is op, I can easily take them out as Ronin, hell I managed to take on 3 tones as Ronin with no back up because they all fucking died, but yet I shredded the fuck out of them and the three had stotic black or stotic dark (I forgot what's it called) so they were good at tone (the cancer squad) all you have to is just separate them from there team (it's really easy to do as Ronin or Scorch)
Glad you aren't reinforcing the ridiculous tone circlejerk, regardless of how anyone feels about tone, the only thing more annoying is the people who complain nonstop about tone
Tone was a titan that did everything well and nothing badly, along with having the best core in the game, and a fucking pulse blade for seeing the enemy team that also helps you get more damage. Oh and did I mention the only titan ability/weapon that's easier to kill pilots with is Ion's laser shot?
A crutch is something that you use when you aren't very good in order to play slightly more competitively, but which you can then leave behind when you get better. Tone isn't a crutch. Tone is to a crutch what the Saturn V is to a bottle rocket.
+YakLives Matter Lol bullshit, killing people with ion's laser shot is automatically easier because it's hitscan one shot. Tone's a projectile. Nice raging circlejerk you got going.
He was saying ions laser shot is easier, read it again. Though I'd argue tone's tracker cannon is easier since it's semi-automatic and has splash damage. If you miss twice or have no energy, you can't use laser shot for a good 5 seconds. If you miss with tracker cannon, who gives a shit, just fire again. And with splash damage, you can hit people hiding behind corners who think they're safe, especially with vision from sonar. Not to mention that the size of tones projectile combined with enemy pilots using their projectile-hitboxes for it's shots actually gives it a much bigger hitbox than laser shot. It's not as simple as "hitscan = easier". Imagine trying to hit a moving target at distance in real life with a pulse from a laser pointer, and with a football. You're going to be much, much more accurate with the football because of it's size despite having to account for speed. Projectile weapons can be much easier to hit with.
As a Tone main, words of advice for new tone players: -Scorch and Ronin are your worst nightmare -Kill Monarch AT ALL COSTS -Try to get an unusual angle on enemy titans, peek over a building, across the map through 8 gaps, hit those locks, look up, fire, they will not expect it -if you have a salvo core and a scorch is charging you, pop a smoke, dash backwards, let it rip. Even if you're doomed you'll at least drop him to quarter health. -Never, EVER, EVER PUSH A NORTHSTAR, That boy has a flight core and a tether with your name on it. -If you got enemies cluttered up, pop a wall, use your pulse, fire your 40 mil, profit, if they get close, pop a smoke and use the punch strat in the video
i think the way the devs could've nerfed tone was that they could've made it four locks to use the rockets instead of three, or in order to get a complete lock you would need direct hits on the titan instead from splash dmg
Was this video created before or after the nerf?
Narrated before, edited after. Tone's playstyle has not changed AT ALL. None of my recommendations changed whatsoever because of the patch. Eyeballing it, Salvo Core is doing a max of about 8k damage now, Sonar Pulse recharge time up 2-3 sec, projectile size technically reduced but feels way too big still. Frothy says in the video "upcoming Live Fire Patch" so that tells me that even though it was posted after the patch, the video was made before it.
Ok, sure. It just seems like a lot of tianfall 2 youtubers are shouting the end of tone, like those nerfs would destroy her.
Read the other comments here. Frothy also mentions that the nerf wasn't all that hard in a response. It's mostly relative to opinions, though, and, from what I've seen, a lot of people like to overreact to changes.

I feel people's problem with Tone isn't that she's necessarily overpowered; she's just easy to use. Still good, but not broken as many would lead you to believe, and fighting these sorts of people actually requires you to think a little more (such as timing when to shoot your rockets or properly curving them around cover).

the nerf did almost nothing, salvo core still destroys and is viable at all ranges and most environments, the projectile size is still big, and thats about all they changed. Still S+, brainless titan.
Yin-Yanged Gamer just like ion
The Particle Wall > Melee tip is really good along with the splash damage applying locks and aiming your rockets upwards before firing. Lots of people wouldn't be aware of those.
All of that could really be explained as just tips and none of it is essential. Not to mention anyone paying any amount of attention would know these things pretty quickly after player her for a bit.
Any 40mm damage gives locks. Why wouldn't splash damage from them give it as well? Pretty obvious. Also the salvo core thing is also a pretty infamous tactic.
How to play Tone: Shoot, shoot, shoot, lock-on missile, then Salvo Core.

@@harris3295 that stated to happend me a month ago
What?
Night Hawkin' Icarus Yeah. As a side effect, I rarely call in my Titan now, without taking an enemy's battery.
As for Titan kits, I normally run with Turbo Engine, Nuclear Ejection, and Overcore. For Tone's specific kits, I normally run with Enhanced Particle Wall (Though, not as often as I used to.) and Rocket Barrage.
I actually tried to use Burst Loader. You couldn't be more right. It was so awful. LOL
Wow thanks! You are so much better than Frothy. The only problem is i love using smart pistol and satchels.
I know Overcore is really good but goddamn I am definitely too attached to my 2nd dash... I have to have _all_ of the speed
Dave Rabbit especially for countering Ronin
Monarch with TE + Rearm = 4 dashes at the start of its lifespan. So any titanfall shield "campers" can't get you, and unparalleled travel speed.
Thats why I main ronin. 3 dashes, phase dash and dash cooldown with core. Plus he is just awesome to use

Just recently bought this game for practicing Apex Legends and now I find myself having more fun with Titanfall 2
They got Us on the first hall, they had us.........
I agree.
If scorch is countering you as a tone, you're playing wrong. Simple as that. Scorch struggles big time
nothing wrong with that, you should just play whatever you have fun with regardless of what other people think.
Except for when your spawn right in front of one and don't get chance to run ha ha
Jordan Hirst just wanted to let you know that I didn't read anything you wrote

Thanks again for all that you do for the Titanfall community!
Great guide. It's useful to point out that when trying to be efficient with tracking rockets, more rockets are fired for each lock so if you have one titan at 3 and one or two others at 2 locks it's sometimes worth it to get more locks in that tracking rocket burst rather than immediately launching.
Sounded like a relationship guide for a second lol "get to know her, play with her, be with her"

There's nothing wrong with Monarch. I also agree, tone isnt that bad anymore. Whats wrong with monarch tho?
@@runfast4244 a lot is wrong with her, the fact is that her play style is so vastly different from the rest of the Titans makes her a lot harder to use. She can have more health than a fucking ogre titan, steal a battery on execution, deal a shit ton of damage with the xo16 accelerator, and it’s wayyy too easy to kill pilots with her
@@ilikestarwars4438 that requires a bit of effort. You don’t get superior chassis or accelerator after 1 core, gotta get it after 3 cores so not op
@@runfast4244 Yeah, but with battery boost and shield, they're super easy to survive with by default, and arc rounds are busted lol. As an option to play tone against tone is to wait while enemy tone drops wall. Then dash forward behind his wall and punch him. Then drop your wall. In this way you obtain one wall in front of you and one behind.
Well right now I can`t run tone anyway in public play since the whole eemy team ususally consists of tone hunting ronins :/

Imo tone is shit on too much she's perfectly balanced with multiple counters
I know it.

You forgot that Ronin's Arc Wave also one-shots the particle wall.

Tone is the smart pistol of titans
Thank you for this guide man Im playing this now in 2022 and it still fun to me both multiplayer and frontier defense
Tip-dont stick at your wall after enemies leave your line of sight or you'll get flanked
It rips through vortex/inferno shield but does nearly nothing to bulwark gun shield or enhanced particle wall.
might be a bug, dunno!
This is why I love ronin because he is fast and can get behind people with there campfire and marshmallows camping like a baby
I love the 40mm cannon. Imo the best Titan primary weapon
Sad sword core noise
Lots of people don't realize, but using sonar lock when you can't get shots on the enemy is great I.E. if a titan is running or has a shield ability up, hide and fire your sonar for a "free" lock

This will help even more against Pilots when 40mm projectile size is nerfed.
exyiaevox I would heavily advise against burst loader because it hinders your ability to counter Ronin
This is my favorite guide series for any fps game
So what role is Tone supposed to play? I've genned her, and I still don't know. She's bulky with decent mobility and burst damage. Bulky sniper, is that even a role? If anything Tone seems like a support class to me, but she was given damage to carry games by herself.
+MrAgentIncognito distance doesn't really matter. Try to catch people in places they can't get away from you easily
FrothyOmen
I meant when you mentioned Tone fulfills a role needed in the game. I'm just not seeing it.
A titan whose sole purpose is to massacre other titans. That's the role. The problem is that Tone is too good at also being able to massacre pilots and minions.
FrothyOmen
I completely disagree that the role is needed or fits Tone.
I thought I new Tone really well, yet your videos are always informative and interesting!

Thanks, you too!
North Star camping, fire a good dart and at least 3 shots, and the mini rockets finish them off
Tone is a great titan! She gets hate because she deals a ton of damage at a range but really stick with it even if you get some hate🎉
tone guide: don't fire tracking rockets into ion's shield

I've found that playing as a support version of Tone is rather fun. While it is infuriating for the opponent, it's not toxic. Try using the shield to protect your allies instead of constantly dropping it for personal gain.
Step One: Hate literally everything
Step Two: Eat babies
Step Three: Decide to play Tone because you like to make people cry

This 4 year old video still gets me excited to play tone on titanfall 2

As someone who just picked up the game (I didn't get the chance to play it before the ddos cuz I had a potato pc), I wholeheartedly thank you for this guide. ❤
I'd love to get a Sidewinder pro, please do a guide on it
Don't bother leading unless they are super far away, and if they are far away you probably shouldn't be shooting at them with a close-mid range weapon anyways unless they are stationary (Which means you don't need to lead your shot, to begin with).
I have been watching your videos for the past hour or so, and I can't even pay attention because of your gameplay. Papa bless

Mastering
Tone
In whole my live it was one of the best jokes
i highly recommend over core for tone, i m a tone nerd which my tone is already G9 and the rest of my titans have no higher than lv6, the reason recommend over core is because tone's biggest advantage or highest dps weapon is his core, why not take maximum advantage to others? also use ur pulse more, is a really good ability for both offense and defense
Tone is the noob titan that's why it gets hate and that's why you can woop their asses when you get up close.

As a Tone main, words of advice for new tone players:
-Scorch and Ronin are your worst nightmare
-Kill Monarch AT ALL COSTS
-Try to get an unusual angle on enemy titans, peek over a building, across the map through 8 gaps, hit those locks, look up, fire, they will not expect it
-if you have a salvo core and a scorch is charging you, pop a smoke, dash backwards, let it rip.
Good one frothy... 😂
Fantastic guide frothy, you knocked it out of the park with this one
+Joe Romano thanks! :D
Tone is the only titan I can insta kill when they spawn and not feel bad about it
i think the way the devs could've nerfed tone was that they could've made it four locks to use the rockets instead of three, or in order to get a complete lock you would need direct hits on the titan instead from splash dmg
When you have a g5 tone, but still watch these.
I don't like tone because he is overpowered, I like hime because he has balanced stats.
I like missiles
Anyone who plays tone needs to learn another titan that requires more skill
Aces of Athens My dood, you're doing Gods work with your preaching
Aces of Athens
YES. but not legion sooooooooo
Butter My Pancakes Why?
legion requires no skill
Butter My Pancakes As a Legion main, I say, "fuck. no." Legion is very hard to learn if you don't know how to play him.
