Вставка
- Опубліковано 29 вер 2024
- Playthrough demo of my modded Dual Rec. Multiwatt. Gain pot has been changed on CH3 (1 Mega ohm versus stock 250K).
No boost is used, guitar connected straight to amp.
Signal Chain:
- ESP Horizon with Fishman Fluence Moderns (Active mode)
- Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier Multiwatt
- Mesa Boogie Oversized 4x12, Celestion V30
- SM57 to Audio Interface
I don’t know how I missed this, Tony- sounds great!👍🏻🤘🏻
@@leosun8469 thank you :)
Tony, What guitar what pickups in this video? Best dual rec video on youtube by the way.
Thank you Matt 🙏🏻 I was using my ESP Eclipse with Fishman Fluence Moderns. Highly recommended pickups!
Pretty awesome. Wonder if 500k wouldn't be better - less extreme, probably more usable and can still use a boost. Ever tried a 500k?
I was looking to see if anyone asked this question... I agree a 500k might broaden the range but still add tightness .... Definitely interesting as I have a Dual Multi Watt myself... Also picked up a Roadster head recently, it could use this mod as well
Id like to hear a recto with a couple of dv77s and v30s together in a 4x12 mesa cab. I got a dv77 and v30 in my evh 2x12 and loving it so far. Haven't even broke em in good yet.
It does improve the the gain structure! Way more aggressive and even tighter. I love Dual Rectifiers, good demo 👍
Exactly! Like what every Rectifier should sound! Thanks bro!
Love me some boogie. Gonna get my boogie on sometime soon. Rockin an EVH right now but i really dig that recto tone.
I'm a simple man. I see Recto and I click.
Thanks for watching :)

Man you have to make a Metallica tone video with your Rectifier!
only a pot change that's it?
Correct, just the gain pot change.
master?output?10 clock?
Channel master set at 11 o’clock (sweet spot) and Output volume set to liking.
So the only change is changing the gain pot of the red channel from 250k to 1 Meg pot?
I also read things about swapping out capacitors and some resistors on the grail tone forum?
I wonder if this also works on my DC-5 since it is a bit to old school gain sounding and could use some modern gain saturation and sustain (overdrive pedal helps but something is a bit lacking in the gain department)
Yes, that’s the only mod I did. I read too about additional mods but didn’t get the chance to implement. I’m not sure if it would work on the DC-5 though…thanks for watching!
@@mark_iic thx for the confirmation! Love what the pot swap does to the gain!
@@mark_iic sorry one last question; I see there is a cap on the middle and last lug of the pot. Did you swap that onto the new 1M pot or did you change it to the proposed 0.0047uF capacitor?
@@vanespedals1023 there wasn't a cap on the pot in my case... I just swapped one pot to another (1M).
@@mark_iic clear! I think that is the difference between the 2 and 3 channel rectifiers then. 👍
1:25 wich song
Thank you for watching, it’s just improvised and potentially part of a song I’m writing.
One of the best recorded demos of the almighty Rectifier I've seen on YT. Thanks for the ear candy
Thank you for your comment, much appreciated!
sounds like a fuking kimera
This sounds really nice, well recorded !
Wow....this is the sound what i like from a Rectifier, fizzy gritty, raw, thight....Awesome. Did you made this Mod by yourself , or in a Musicstore.
Thank you for watching :) I did the mod by myself.
Hey man nice mod! Do You think I can change gain pot on a mini Rectifier as well? Where did you order the 1 meg ohm pot? I am planning to change the bass and gain pot of my mini Rectifier because it lacks bottom end presence
Thanks man! You have to check the manual of the mini rectifier to see if the gain pot is less than 1 meg ohm. I bought mine from Mesa Boogie's online store.
@@mark_iic yes it is only 250k ohms.
@@sfear6 then yes you can change it and it should achieve identical results. 🤘🏻
Really nice video bro sound really good as always!
Thank you bro!! 🙏
sir that is one fantastic tone! could you make a video on how you did the mod? id love to do this to my roadking v1 and see how you you went about doing it. cheers man
Thank you man for checking the video! I will try to do a video on the mod but it's simple. You order a specific potentiometer, remove amp from chassis and replace the gain pot on CH3 with the one you bought. Or you can take to a tech, it will take him less than 30min to do it.
Sounds really good!!!
Thank you :)
amazing!
Awesome👍🏻
Ah!!!! I didn't realize yours is a multi-watt, mines a 2001 3ch. I wondered what the pot swap was like in a Reborn. Sweet!
Gives a nice boost to the amp. Can’t believe this doesn’t come as stock...
@@mark_iic I asked Trent Blake
at Mesa a while ago... he said.. "its (the 250k) just what Doug and Randall came up with for the 3ch" My opinion.... they wanted to appeal to all genres... and they assumed guys like us will boost....which is true.... but this is better...
@@googuser3145 I agree, the mod makes the amp more “metal” oriented than anything else. But...who would buy a Rectifier for non-metal? Jazz/Blues?...
This is really making me consider doing this to my Badlander on channel 2. Tonewise, I love it, but it is severely lacking in the gain department, even with a boost. Cleans are great, crunch is great, crush mode falls short and I'm wondering if this might be the ticket. My only concern would be voiding the warranty, as I bought it new.
I think Badlander has already a 1 Meg pot so you may want to leave it the way it is. Older rectos (such as the MW) I believe sound better than the new Badlander, but I never tried one in person to properly judge, one day I will demo it.
If you think your Badlander is lacking in gain....there’s probably something wrong with it.
@@FEAROWNAGE Doubtful. But I ended up trading it for a Mark V that I like way more anyway
@@playthefightriffjohn843 Watch playthroughs if you don’t believe me.
Cool video. Sounds great.
Thanks man, appreciated!
nice tony!!! not normally into rectos, but sounds pretty damn good!!! cheers!!!
u gonna try out the badlander???
@@geraldrauch1701 thanks man! I’m more into the MI Beta rather rectos, will soon sell this modded version. I won’t buy the Badlander but will definitely demo one if it comes my way.
@James Duff I usually find the values and pot numbers on the amp’s manual found on Mesa Boogie’s site. Rectos are expensive new but can be very cheap if used, which is why it’s best to buy used and mod.
@James Duff if your Bugera gain pot is rated at 250 or 500k, using a one mega ohm pot will certainly change the structure like it does on the Rectifier. About popping sounds, here’s how I fix it with rectos: while amp on standby, switch channels using the footswitch back and forth for like a couple of seconds then set on CH2, turn on standby to play position, then go to CH3, CH2... the pop might happen once only and it’s gone after.
Sounds great! \m/
Thank you for watching! \m/
Fuckin sick tone
So Nice 💘💘💘💘💘💘
Thank you for watching! \m/
This is sooo neat will to the same
Can this mod be done to as Road King 2 Channel 3 and/or channel 4?
Yes it can be done to both CH3 and CH4, since they both use the lower value gain pot like on the MW.
what is the amp settings ?
the presence I meant
