- The GMC Envoy (pronounced ON-voy) is an SUV that was produced by GMC. It was introduced as a high-end version of the Jimmy for the 1998 model year, the same year the Jimmy was restyled. After a short hiatus during which the Jimmy was phased out, the Envoy nameplate reappeared in the GMC line of vehicles from 2002 through 2009 as a standalone model until the unibody 5-seat Terrain and 7-seat Acadia crossovers replaced the standard and XL models, respectively; the Envoy sold alongside the Acadia from 2007-09.
The Envoy nameplate had previously used by GM in Canada in the 1960s, for imported British made Vauxhall Victors that were sold through the Chevrolet/Oldsmobile network.

I have one of these I bought new in 2004. Best, most handy vehicle I have ever owned.
This truck is ingenious in the way it works. GM never got the credit it deserved for engineering
such a versatile vehicle. I am keeping this one until the wheels fall off.
I too have a 2004 GMC Envoy XUV..............I love it......I've done a lot of work to it.............Keeping it for a long long time............
Tom Redditt they are hard to find now.
@@fangs1967 ...is it for passengers or just a truck.
Yes, another GM exec decision. Do something the public finds appealing, then kill it. 13K sold bc they didn't want to sell it. Lutz is a putz.
I see em in Detroit all the time. Cheap and beat to s**t. Never seen one where the windows still worked lol.
Doug DeMuro material.
You mean douche Demuro?
@@patriciomunoz2830 Don't talk shit about Doug!
I bought 2004 Envoy XUV 3 years ago, it was almost 10 years old and I love it, I love, I love it....!!! This truck is unbelievable, ingenious in the way it works. I agree completely, GM never got the credit it deserved for engineering
such a versatile vehicle. The same as Tom, I am going to keep it until the wheels fall off.
So when the truck feature is fully engaged with all windows down does that mean you have open air behind you or is there glass behind drivers seat to put up? What if it’s raining?
@@_j_a_d_e Yes, there is a glass behind the driver's seat to put up...
Never heard it converted to a truck. Lousy marketing I guess. I really want one now.
I have one...for sale.
My granny has one of these and it blew my mind when she showed the pick up conversion.
I love this truck my uncle has the same one in black n still has it today 2019 and still in mint condition, love gmc
This is a cool truck. Kinda looks like a hearse profile. But the coolest truck ever made. I want one now.❤💙👍🔥🔥😎
I have a 2004 XuV 5.3 liter V8 154,000.... if U want still ?
Just got one a Few months ago for the wife / Excellent shape 9.5 out of a 10She loves it , Gets lots of compliments I'm still looking to find the 'Tent ' option
I'm actually going to buy one from my friends dealership. He has one and I had never even seen it before. He said he took it for a ride to PA 2 weeks ago to go camping and to a festival with 3 guys amd they said they had such a blast in it.
Like I said, I had never seen one before and thought they were really cool. I love the fact that you can actually hose it down like a pickup truck and not destroy the seating area interior. Very cool truck. They should have given these more exposure. The one thing he said though, if the electronics start giving you a problem, it could potentially end up useless unless you have the money to fix the electrical issue.
I wanted one of these when they came out, could not afford it at the time. By the time I was ready they stopped making it so I bought a Ridgeline
Every once in awhile I see one of these on the road, I always wondered why they looked slightly different than a regular Envoy. I figured that the styling was just different for a year or two. I just found out the roof and back windshield move to make a pickup bed. Really interesting idea.
I love the small talk between the guys lol
The beauty in this vehicle is in it’s utility value.
Nice avalanche! GMC suv version though! That’s pretty neat!
This looks good for a drive by
I don't get it, why did you buy the same plant twice?
whoah, did you notice the rear gate can swing out or down? thanks to your comment, i did!
only problem is that wind burn on the leaves above 30mph sucks, it does kill the tree/bush
I've had one for a while, it's blue with V8, leather and GPS.
They need to make another one
This and the Avalanche had awesome utility. But did they have any water leak issue?
That's what i was wondering
4:25 oh no the wheels are doing that weird thing where it looms like there going backwards!
I really like the concept, It's a little like the Skoda Felicia Fun. One think from the video, they loaded the doors but they were too long to allow the tailgate to close, Surely you can't drive like that with the number hidden?
Such a nice car I wanna buy it.
The feels like motor trend without the commentary
More like auto week but yeah
I searched for Motor Trend 2004 gmc xuv to find this video.
I just bought one! 11/2018
Me too a few months ago I have the exact same truck in this video but with the avs black bug deflector on the hood I highly recommend completely changed the truck I have the 5.3 liter v8 the guy I bought it from put a new transmission from gm cost him 3000$ he put in only a couple months before he also installed I dvd navigation system which believe it or not I would rather have the factory bose it sounds way way better
You should both post videos!
Could this, uh, truck carry a motorcycle? Searched photos but couldn't verify. Only saw a lawnmower loaded up.
I say so most likely
Y por que no compran una pick up de 4 puertas?
why does the gate open both ways? I mean I understand the concept, but, like, why?
What size engines are available?
Comes in a v6 or a v8
All though very cool, I get a nagging sensation that this is just a uselessly complex Escalade EXT/Aztek/Avalanche.
Pentium 486sx An Avalanche can't roll down it's middle window like that and the Avalanche is notorious for flooding. This Envoy rocks!!
....but where does all the crap go when you hose down the inside of your Envoy?
Heard they got drain plugs for the water
You close the mid gate and put the mid gate window up, then hose it down. You'll need to wipe down the plastic sides and flooring to get rid of the excess water droplets that remain. There are drain holes in the under flooring (under the plastic deck). It's barely capable of carrying 4' by 8' foot sheets of cargo (Mid gate folded forward). We use ours for display of our banner and the National Ensign at parades (Rear roof open) There is NO BACK SEAT for passengers.
There’s a drain
The avalanche cousin
Just but a truck at that point
It's like a Baja outback..... but southern.......
2:54 that sounded so cheap
Hi
hello
Ok
Gm copies good old Studebaker design Nothing new here !🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮🤮 A 1963 Wagon with a Sliding Retractable Roof?
Need more space in the back to haul a contrabass saxophone or your Lego Saturn V? Simply unlock the Wagonaire’s sliding roof panel, manually push it forward to rest above the front seats, and lock it into place.
It’s a pretty genius idea that would be seen again, decades later on the 2004 and 2005 GMC Envoy XUV.
It looks like a hurst
This truck is so ugly. Hideous eyesore.
A future classic ...I have the identical truck it's based on the 1960s Studebaker lark wagon
But this one doesn't leak
If anyone is interested in this truck I have the same truck for sale... mine maybe a little nicer considering mine is more of a deeper red then ORANGE red also I have the running boards and a full body rain gaurd kit pkg on all 4 windows from gm also I got the black tinted AVS bug deflector On the hood also got a factory DVD/navigation system with 12" subwoofer
