    Wonderful ideas! Used similar grid sheets from quilting to do the same. Used my cinch on left over strip to put holes in and added to planner for ruler guide.

      That's funny, because Amazon sells these in their sewing category and it never occurred to me why. I really have had fun especially with the plastic on my grid sheet that MISTI provides. I've used it as a watercolor palette. You'll see it in use in the next couple of videos. It's really handy and I would have never thought to use it for that until I made one of my classic mistakes of rubbing ink on a card while it was in the MISTI...If I still used a planner, that is a terrific idea! Brenda, Thanks so much. I wanted to make sure that I made the MISTI easier for left handed people as it is kind of tricky when you never have any measurements you can go by. Sandy

    I know I keep saying I can't wait to get a Misti eventually I'll get one. Thank you for all the great tips we'll have to watch it again once I get one 😄 I can't wait for you to get the other one so I can see if you like it

      You should wait until March/April when Tim Holtz has his come out. I want to make sure you get the best one at the best price. I'm really glad the prices are coming down so more people can afford them. MISTI is nice but not really affordable for most crafters in my opinion..

    Hello from Texas Sandy Parker McGuire! I had to really concentrate to understand what you were trying to do but it makes perfect sense lol I just have too many windows open in my brain and I can see the hourglass spinning lol. You are so creative and I can't wait to try these on my Misti. Hope you are well. Take care my friend. Blessings and Hugs from Texas

      Sheila, Rich has learned a lot about making cards since he edits all my videos and this is the first video that he had trouble following, so I think it was probably me. I should have found a way to explain the point of the grids before I put them in. I really love them and absolutely HATE that long magnet as it's powerful and pulls the other magnets to it and attaches to everything. Definitely thought it would be a great idea, but I think it's me and more powerful than I can manage. I love how you explained the hourglass and windows in your brain. That was such a great explanation of how hard it is to process things sometimes. I have the same problem especially since menopause. I have lost about half of my vocabulary and thought I was losing my mind, until talking about it with a girlfriend in the same situation...She said since menopause she calls knives, spoons etc. The light went on and I couldn't believe it because I've started referring to all kinds of things with the wrong name. Darn it, we woman have it tough, ha ha.... Always love hearing from you! Sandy

    Great tips. I used an idea from Kristina Werner to help open the Misti door. Attach a loop of washi tape on the edge much like the one to remove the magnets. It really works.

    • @craftingforalmosteveryone
      @craftingforalmosteveryone  7 років тому

      Thanks Jean. I did another of these videos with the Stamp Perfect and included the washi tape on the door and the long magnet like Jennifer McGuire uses. I had to use four layers of washi to make sure the long magnet could be moved as it's really strong. Sandy

      Rita Maria, I mentioned that I thought it would work well with your tool too. Do you like the HA version? I'm thinking of getting one as the lid is thinner than MISTI and I might not have to use my foot to really get good impressions on bigger stamps. Let me know would you? Sandy

      Hampton Arts came out with the Stamp Perfect that you can get through Michaels with a coupon, for less than $20. My Michaels (an hour away) doesn't carry them in the store., so I would have to buy it on line. From the people I've talked to that have used it, they think it's almost identical to the MISTI. I love the MISTI, but do think it's really over priced and hate that every stamper can't afford one. Tim Holtz is coming out with one in March or April as well and I think his will be $38, but he'll sell through the big stores that will give you 40-50% off, so then his price should be around $20 as well. There are already comparisons on UA-cam with the new units and the MISTI. The only one I wouldn't recommend from what I've seen is the one from We R Memory Keepers. It just doesn't look like the paper will stay in place well. Hope this helps. Sandy

      Thanks for your great note. I've been planning this video for months, but forgot to do it and then JM did hers and it reminded me I needed to get mine up. It looks kind of like I'm a stalker though, because they came out so close together. Oh well, if anyone watches them, they should see my ideas aren't just like hers.

    I am having trouble with my Misti. I can't get the paper to stay positioned perfectly to double stamp something. It always moves just a fraction and so when I stamp the same image again, it looks blurry because it didn't stamp in the exact same spot. Will your vinyl template sheets cut out like you have shown, help me with this problem?
    Also another problem I have is that when I stamp, the paper sticks to the stamp and comes up off the Misti when I open the "door" after stamping an image. This seems to mess up my stamp also. When I see you ladies using the Misti I don't see this "sticking" happening. What is causing mine to stick?

    • @craftingforalmosteveryone
      @craftingforalmosteveryone  7 років тому +1

      First, you need to put more magnets on your card to stop it from moving. If you didn't buy their magnets, I'd recommend the bar. It's harder to move, but if you put duct tape or several layers of washi tape on it, you'll be able to pick it up easier. Here's the one I bought on Amazon www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0181LX6JQ/ref=oh_aui_search_detailpage?ie=UTF8&psc=1Oh yeah, some stamps stick like crazy, especially clear acrylic ones that are not lined stamps, but filled in (hope that made sense.) I would first try washing the stamp in either baby shampoo or really diluted Dawn dish soap and see if that works. Then if it still sticks, I'd try inking it a few times and stamping it on a scrap paper so the stamp gets used to ink and the ink stops it from sticking. Sometimes stamps are just not well made and they will have that problem. If those two techniques don't work, I'd try lightly rubbing a paper nail file over it and seeing if that helps. The thing about most crafters on UA-cam is they like to cut out that problem. I don't cut those things out because I want you to see how to fix it. This video will make you feel better. If you go to around 3:50 on the timer of this video, you'll see me have the problem you're discussing...See, you're not alone...Sandyua-cam.com/video/tv0zzMwi_Q8/v-deo.html

      Barbara, I've checked out the We R Memory Keepers one, the Hampton Arts one and Tim Holtz. I might buy the Hampton Arts and Tim Holtz and do demos on them for the channel as long as the store allows me to take them back if I can't use them. Sometimes that happens and I'm stuck with them and I hate it when I can't get them to work. Loved all of the videos from CHA. Misti corners we can make ourselves with craft wood sticks I would bet. I might give that a try.

      Shelly, If you have any issues with strength in your hands, I don't recommend that bar. It's really hard to move and I noticed J McGuire has changed her washi tape on her bar at least once since putting it on, so that doesn't work to help move it either (or it doesn't seem to.) Hope that helped. I do know of ebay sites to buy the round ones cheaper if you want more of those. I put washi tape on mine because I've had several smack into each other and literally explode in my face. Let me know if you want info on the round magnets as well, I'd be glad to find out who sold me mine. Sandy

      Here's what it is called. I'm not sure if you have Amazon.com there, but I found it there as well. N42 3x1/2x1/8 Inch Rare Earth Neodymium Block Magnet ...I will tell you, if you have any problems with your hands, you might not want it. I have found it very difficult to move and even with washi on it, it still is too hard for me to control. Also the round magnets will attach to this and they are almost impossible for me to separate. Just wanted to give you all of the information on it so you know all of the facts before you buy one. Best of luck to you. Sandy

I have no problems with my hands but want to also use the misti magnets and if it's even hard to move with washi tape... think I'm gonna pass.. haha... thank you so much !!!After your reply my problem is solved ! Happy crafting !!!
