4 Tips to Increase Spinnerbait Fishing Success

  • Professional bass angler Jason Christie thinks a lot of anglers are missing the boat when it comes to spinnerbait fishing. A simple straight retrieve will catch a few bass, but imparting action onto the bait with deflections and speed change significantly improves catch rates.
    Christie shares four tips to increase spinnerbait fishing success when water temps are in the 50 to 70-degree range. He hits on the importance of triggering reaction strikes with deflections, how to fish parallel down the sides of docks, and how to select blades and retrieve speed based on water temperature and clarity.

    I wish they can have a tournament where the Professional Bass Fisherman are not allowed to use any fish finders at all. Every time I go out fishing on a Bass boat with a friend we end up playing more with the fish finders then actually fishing and cracking some fish the old school way. I remember when I was a kid you had to Scope out the area, see what looks good to you and if there is anything out of the ordinary, like a small brush in the water, a tree sticking out, a bridge, Rock pile, shell 🐚 bed 🛌. I grew up fishing the Tide in the Saltwater near California coast, you see everything you need to know when the water is down, some of their habitat and what attracts fish, it’s just more fun that way, when you are better then the other guy because you know how to find fish and stay on top of them all day by predicting where the water or tide will take them next. There is nothing more fun then catching fish every cast knowing you found a small pool, and everyone else is clueless as why you are killing them and they are not 😁👌😂👍🎣🎣🎣🎣. The only reason I watched this video is because this guy is one of my Favorite Professional Bass Fisherman 😁🙏😎👍👍👍👍🎣🎣🎣🎣

      That would be an interesting tournament. I don't usually use my depth finder as much as I could/should. I grew up fishing a "shallower" lake than what I fish now and I have been playing the "That looks good" game, but I can't find the pattern for the bass. So I end up going after panfish because I know how and where to catch them. That's why my videos show so many bluegills. But when you can't find bass, the gills are fun on light and ultra-light gear.

      Tiger Outdoors all fish are fun to catch 😁👍🎣 some are more fun then others, but as long as there is something pulling on the other end, that’s all that matters 😁👍👌🎣🎣 tight lines

    I have caught one fish on a spinnerbait, ever. I was slow rolling it and touching the bottom with it in some pretty shallow water. What about trailers?

    • @robertcox9226
      @robertcox9226 4 роки тому

      If it's raining throw a spinnerbait, if it's cloudy with some wind throw a spinnerbait, the clearer the water the faster you fish it. Exception, structure fishing or cold water months slow rolling works for monster bass

    Do you use a trailer hook? or trailer - IE action tail worm?

    • @marcusyoung2870
      @marcusyoung2870 4 роки тому +1

      Depends. If I'm using a bulky swimbait trailer, no. Any other time, yes. The key to having an almost weedless trailer hook is to take the tubing off the trailer hook eye so that it is swinging free. Put the tubing above the trailer hook on the main hook shank to keep it from flying off.

      I love the BOOYAH Mini (or Super) Shad Spinnerbaits. They have 3 willow blades on the mini and 4 on the super. I usually just use a Cabela's Fisherman Series™ Go-To Swim Minnow 3.5 inch for my trailer. With the cool down they match the bait size really well. That's just my preference. You can use almost anything as a trailer, senkos to swimbaits and flukes, they all work. You can add a trailer hook with a trailer like you can with a buzzbait. Rig your trailer, then slide the trailer hook on and put a small thin piece of rubber or hole punched coffee can lid confetti piece on top of the trailer hook.

    i spent like 20 $ on 4 different fancy spinners and no luck, then i found an old silver rusty one from 90s that literally looks like trash and i got 2 pikes on it.. figured the more simple you go the better for fish

      @@Wired2Fish There're even bigger fish in there. I've hooked senko fish that were easily double billy's size.. water's really shallow so they jump alot. I still haven't figured out the secret to keeping a hook in a jumping fish's mouth, not when he's 15 feet away anyhow.

    I've found the more pressured the water, the less likely I'll get bit on spinnerbois. Everybody throws them, so highly fished waters have fish that see them frequently. If I'm casting through spots not pressured I'll have one or two handy...but your water that has a local club tournament every weekend? Spinnerbois stay at home.
