    The hard thing about handstands is that multiple things have to come together at the same time. You have to build specific strength, full body mobility, coordination & awareness. On top of that you might have to break through some mental barriers, build confidence and get rid of self doubt.
    This road can feel long and be frustrating. It is completely understandable that you might feel stuck. It is important to keep in mind that you do not have to feel like you are plateauing. 95% of the time plateaus are simply due to a lack of proper training.
    The reason you can not handstand is because you are training wrong.
    Learn to train handstand effectively, make gains and restart your progress. Learn to handstand without the wall and beyond!

    By practicing on the wall and trying to fix the alignment I realize how much u really have to TENSE everything shoulders core legs it feels quite hard at least now

    • @CoachBachmann
      @CoachBachmann  17 днів тому

      Hey. This is good training for you tho. By engaging and tensing you will get stronger and gain significantly more control over your handstand. Your handstand should not be easy and relaxed. Only a hard handstand is a handstand that is in control

    Hi coach bachmann
    What is the correct method to activate the core for handstand? Bracing (contract stomach) or Drawing In (pull stomach in)?

    • @CoachBachmann
      @CoachBachmann  17 днів тому +1

      Hey. This is a good question. It is neither actually. When you are standing upright on your feet you are not doing anything specific with your core either. Handstands are similar. Your core should stabilize the position but if you engage too hard you will crunch, your body will round and you will fall.

    Why is it when I try to align my legs with rest of the body and get rid of piking in the hips I loose control and fall backwards? What is a beneficial move for this problem?

    • @CoachBachmann
      @CoachBachmann  Місяць тому

      This is difficult without seeing the handstand but I’m assuming that your shoulders might be too far open and that you’re pushing them in the direction of your armpits too much. Make sure your shoulders are on top of the center of your hands. Start fixing the position from the bottom up

    I watched several of your stretching videos and there are many great tips for not so flexible people like me.
    However on that one I have to disagree. The chest to wall and side bail out thing might be good for smaller people with good flexibility.
    However for a tall person with poor flexibility who already use intensely knees and ankles, that bail out thing is a great way to destroy your joints.
    That's where the back to wall and learning to bring back from banana to proper stance makes sense. Then there's no way to fall over and you can gently bring back your feets avoiding trauma for your joints.
    I guess you missed one thing in this particular video. For some people the most effective way is the fastest way to achieve a skill. Yet for some the most effective way, is the safer. By safer I mean working with the parts of your body which are the least exhausted by other activities.
    Your bail out is gentle but you're also more flexible than 99 % of us...

      Hey. Thx for the comment. I can only partly agree with you here. I’ve taught realistically close to 1000 athletes to handstand by now. Some being highly inflexible, overweight, tall and some being as old as late 60s.
      You are right that back to wall is significantly more gentle to come out. Laying on the sofa is also much more comfortable than driving a car or taking a bus but it’s not gonna get you to where you need to be.
      I can guarantee you that the percentage of people who learned to handstand back to wall is relatively small.
      Instead of thinking how to set yourself up to bail softer consider the third possibility. Use progressions that prepare you for the wall handstand using l handstands and others. I work with athletes every day online and in person. I know back to wall feels like it will help you but your handstand will not improve to the point that you can ever truly leave the wall. Just because you are training chest to wall does not mean you fall out having to bail. if you use proper progressions you really should never fall off the wall
      Anyhow. I just want you to succeed. Back to wall handstands are still better than no handstands. Keep at it!

    Couch Bachmann you must be the best handbalancer artist and couch in the world. Thank you for showing to the world that nothing is impossible all is possible for G-d. All good things come from G-d. It is so humbling for me to do even small things like a pressed handstand against the wall and freestanding handstands because every time it feels like a miracle. It feels like an impossibility. Easier skills like freestanding headstands do not feel like a miracle I can do them 20 minutes. (Never do more than 30 minutes). For you every miracle is a reality. Like Sid Roth says: "Naturally supernatural". I am so thankful and proud to watch your videos, they are so helpful. Thanks G-d for couch Bachmann and for giving us the gift of handbalancing. G-d is such a nice G-d thank You Jesus. Bless you greatly in everything and likewise everyone who has the privilige like me to watch your videos!!! PS: I don't write of G-O-D fully out of respect for the Jews.
