The Riften Guards are actually suspicious of you, but they do nothing because they know how evil she was.

I was expecting a video on what happens if you kill one of the targets you are given once you join, but without actually joining, eg. Narfi. This is just the shortcut to joining the brotherhood and one line of extra dialogue that you could have just explained the context of in 30 seconds
I also expected something like that too, not an alternative way of starting the quest.
He just pays you and says his usual dialogue

I've tested it, it just means you collect their bounty as soon as you get their target.

Some target are essential until after the quest because if you were able to kill them before receiving said quest the story line would not make sense.
I wish I was one of those Dark Brotherhood targets so I could meet the Dragonborn.
And so I could die, of course.

Same here but but the quest line for the Dark Brotherhood only activates if you go to aventus and take the contract if you don't and kill relog then you can go over to him and you can get a new dialogue
I thought he would kill a different target, killing grelod always starts the dark brotherhood mission no matter what, because you get recruited after you kill her without being part of the dark brotherhood, seeing what would happen if you actually killed any other of the target would've been the interesting thing we all wanted to watch.

The khajiitt caravaner that you get hired to kill died in a dragon foght early on in my game anf later when i got the quest i was able to just complete it immediately.

btw you can kill Grelod anytime with no consequences. I walked up to her and killed her with a punch, then walked out and i had no bounty. One of the Riften guards actually thanked me for it

Yeah there was a theory about why the homeless woman kills her when Grelod runs outside. Everytime u reload the game to cast a rage spell on Grelog so she runs out, the homeless woman goes straight to Grelod and kill her.

I don’t think that you can kill the main targets. They are probably essential until their times come in the plot line.

I actually couldn’t find the dark brotherhood my first play though so I got board after doing everything else, killed everyone in riften but specifically her because I thought that’s how you adopted a kid by replacing her.

Me and my friends made a game of killing Grelod in the most creative ways. Thomas won, by using the Wabbajak to turn her into a chicken, killed the chicken and put it in the fireplace.
I cut her head off and stuck it in her butt.
I threw a piece of bread at her using telekinesis.
I prefer the unarmed kill cam where you beat someone's teeth in, that seems like a vary satisfying way to settle the issue.
I killed her with an arrow to her knee
Lachlan Bold I used a mod to stop time and ran around her in circles casting every spell I had. She got hit by a fireball, an ice spoke, a lightning bolt, a giant boulder, a tidal wave, and a flying sweetroll.

With my first character in Skyrim I did ‘Innocence lost’ early on, but it seems like I didn’t sleep in a bed for over 4,5 months (in real life) because when I was doing the Companions questline, the part where you meet in the underforge at night. It was day outside so I decided to sleep in that bed just outside, behind the Talos statue. I woke up in the old shack and went bananas and I got soooo happy, I had always thought you needed some dlc for it (I play on an old ps3) 😂😂
Sapphiire with my first play through I was a murdering thief. I had no idea how to join. When I first met her I immediately killed her in front of anyone without being seen. Much later on like an actual month later I’m supposed to find clues for the Murder mystery in windhelm in a creepy abandoned house. Couldn’t figure out what house so I proceeded to break into every house looking for clues and everything not nailed down when I found the kid.
You did it wrong. You should have done any contract but the starting one.

This is not new, not a secret. In fact in my blind play in 2011 I did that because Riften was the first city I ended. When I heard the rumor of Aventius so I just killed her right there.

There's a few quests you can complete the objective for before getting the actual quest assigned. If you clear Bleak Falls Barrow before talking to the merchant in Riverwood, you can give him the Golden Claw right when he asks for it. Same with the Dragonstone that Farengar is looking for. You can also find Cicero hauling the Night Mother's corpse south of Whiterun and you can help him fix his wagon which gives you some additional dialog when he shows up in the DB questline.

I was expecting to see what would happen if you killed all of the Dark brotherhood named targets throughout Skyrim before joining. Just turn in assignments as they became available, see if there's some "Wow, you really ARE good." from whatshisface. That's one thing I haven't done yet. Instead, it's just a video of the fastest way to get into the Dark Brotherhood - kill her before reaching Aventus, from whom you immediately get the reward and have access to nearby usable beds to get yourself kidnapped. The percentage of people who take the time to go to Aventus first, then to Riften, then BACK to Aventus, must be so small that this video is legitimately pointless.

You could make another video killing all the contracts before their missions pop up and see if the dialogues of Nazir and Astrid change

more places have toilets, mostly old forts, etc. by toilet, well... bucket and sometimes a bottle of true shot :D

The worst is there is other ACTUAL toilets in the game than just 2 buildings. If you consider any bucket can be used to relieve yourself, theres hundreds of them. Think about it next time you see a seemingly "random" bucket near some person's bed.

Has anyone ever done something like killing all of Nazir's contracts before even starting the dark brotherhood questline? Or even, kill the Gourmet before even doing everything to find out who he is? I've been curious to do that just to see what may happen. Killing all the contracts available before they're even given to you.

But has anyone killed all of the Miscellaneous quest Nazir gives to you? I'm talking about Narfi, the Vampire on Half Moon Mill, the Argonian that steals from recked ships, Harvard (Falkreath's Steward)... All of those. If not, I might just try to do so in my next playthrough.

The first time i walked into the orphanage and heard how she spoke to the kids i put an arrow straight into her head (my character had adopted 2 kids so she was having none of it lol). Spoke to the kid in Windhelm and played along that i was Dark Brotherhood (despite having never heard of them before), and left thinking the quest was done. That night when i went to sleep at home in Whiterun, i was drugged and kidnapped by Astrid from the Dark Brotherhood who told me i "owed them a kill" because i'd stolen their contract on Grelod, so i was like "Ok, sounds fair enough!". I went all in with the DB from there and became a silent assassin for hire.
That was my first introduction to the Dark Brotherhood. It was pretty awesome!

This actually happened to me when I recently joined the dark brotherhood. I can’t remember the target but I got the quest from nazir it completed it and I got my money without doing anything.

Nice video, I like killing her before the quest. By the way, the "toilet" you found next to Grelod's bedroom is a closet where she used to throw the kids into. If you look again, you'll also notice the shackles mounted to the walls. The fact that there is straw on the ground could also be meant as bedding. I imagine the kids aren't always shackled in there, which is why I think the straw doubles as bedding. The first intended purpose, in my opinion, could be to provide a barrier for people going to the bathroom in there. I'm not sure where I heard this or from whom, but I know there's at least one NPC who'll mention the closet punishment thing. (Maybe it was one of the kids?)
Yeah I just randomly found the boy doing the sacrament first, then killed the old hag. Then I killed Astrid when she abducted me in my sleep, let all three captives go, then went and killed the DB.

Her Goose unless you want to get the blade of woe a but early, then their is no point killed them(you don't get any where near as much money as completing their questline, miss out in an immortal horse, miss out on three unkillable followers, miss out on a unique summon, some unique armor sets +unique gloves, emperor's clothes. And a potential two blades of woe

That room you put Grelod in is a bathroom. If you look on the left wall when you walk in you will see shackles. Its a punishment room. The old bitty was sick as heck.

What happens if you kill all the minor contract NPCs before taking the Dark Brotherhood quests?

Killing the Dark Brotherhood isn't worth it unless you just want a faster way to get Astrid's Dagger (Spoiler, again) aka the blade of woe
Randomplayer 639 yeah, because if you kill them then you miss out on the best sword in the game, and shadowmare, and two blades of woe (pickpocket it off Astrid before she gives it too you)
Killing Grelud the Kind should be part of the main quest, one of my favorite activities in Skyrim.
This is actually my favorite way of starting the quest line. I'm wondering if you can kill any of the assassination targets (those little side quests you get for money but aren't part of the main quest line, before they move you to Dawnstar and the quests just become generic NPC slaughter) beforehand, too, and what happens once you're in the brotherhood and those targets are already dead. I need to test this.

i thought you were going to do the targets in the dark brother hood quests, should rename it to just killing grelod early not the targets.
I killed the target in the dwemer ruin before the quest - not intentionally mind you. I was doing the atherium shards quest.
All that happened was Muiri was surprised, paid me, and didn’t give me the extra target.

That's cheating! Grelod is so easy to kill early, where as if you kill the first three contracts before joining the dark brotherhood you'll break the game.
I have a feeling Grelod grew up in that orphanage and was treated the same way by the previous owner, which warped her mind and resulted in her treating the children the same way when she took over.

Thumbs down for misleading title. That is NOT what happens is you kill "A" target that's what happens if u kill the first target. Others you get less gold because you can't do it in the special way the npc planned. Love your channel man but this title is wrong

Fun fact: with quicksaving Grelod is a great dummy for killcams. She dies in one hit so you can kill her with whatever animation you want. My favorite is suplexing her to death. X,D

Fun thing I just noticed: one of the children is named Francois, the same name from Oblivion with ties to the Dark Brotherhood (Francois Mortierre; coincidentally the one who initiates the DB contract against the Emperor in Skyrim). Huh. Continuity, y'all.
