Thank you for this. My best friend in 7th grade killed himself, I walked to his house every morning to walk to school with him and we’d walk home together everyday. I went to his house just like every morning and found him and what he had done to himself and this song was playing in his room on repeat. I’m 43 and still think about him all the time. This was a hard one for me but thank you. R.I.P. David Daniel Fuller. I’ll see you again someday and maybe we can start off where we left off.
Sistah, I read that James stated in an interview - band went thru some issues like having their equipment stolen or get kicked out of their manager's house after band went crazy like breaking stuff or drinking his liquor. Here's the summary by James Hetfield during an interview from Guitar World: "That song was a big step for us. It was pretty much our first ballad, so we knew it would freak people out... Recording that song, I learned how frustrating acoustic guitar can be. You could hear every squeak, so I had to be careful. I wrote the song at a friend's house in New Jersey. I was pretty depressed at the time because our gear had just been stolen, and we had been thrown out of our manager's house for breaking shit and drinking his liquor cabinet dry. It's a suicide song, and we got a lot of flak for it, as if kids were killing themselves because of the song. But we also got hundreds of letters from kids telling us how they related to the song and that it made them feel better."
@@AshwinNarayanplus The most precious to him from what was stolen was a rare and very good guitar amp which was a gift from his grandmother. Actually the only 2 things which had been dropped out from their tour bus which was heading to the horizon on their sight was Cliff's bass and one of Kirk's guitar. And that was in the middle of the tour, rest of the shows they played on Anthrax's equipment and bands didn't talked to each other for 2 years after.

I was 12 years old, first time I heard this album, I was probably stuck on the couch a whole month listening to a new world of metal these guys have brought to me. Glad to see everyone still sharing this amazing world of heavy metal :).
El Yogito I was 13 when I first heard this. Now, a year and a half later, it is definitely my favorite song, and I'm what's considered a "Zoomer" these days and a ripe old 15.

23 years later... TWENTY THREE FREAKING YEARS LATER... And this song STILL gives me goosebumps. There aren't many songs that develop a true emotional connection to me. I lost the first love of my life to suicide when I was 16. Just before she died, she gave me a tape with this song on it. I was listening to it not 15 minutes before I found out... Great now I need a drink.
More than anything the reason I enjoy reaction videos is they are a moment to just sit down and appreciate music. You know it's good music when it's a song you've been listening to for 25 years and it still makes you stop and just listen to the absolute beauty of it all. This song is probably the one I would credit not only getting me into metal but music in general, and to this day that fact combined with the nature of the song makes me teary eyed almost every time.
I didn't appreciate load and reload first either, but if you go back, they were great. You have to consider they took a 7 year break, and grew up a lot. They changed, but I now love those albums

You pick a great one, one of my early favorites. Lots of hard core emotions in this one. The song just builds, and builds as it fades to black. Lots of hard hitting lyrics that make you think. I love how you two just get taken away into the music. And if I can say it, you two look great together. I would enjoy going to a metal show with you two, it would be so much fun. But please don't cry.😿🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
Wolfkain, you and I are so like minded it's nuts! The feeling you get from the instruments, the lyrics and everything are spot on. Keep the good stuff coming you two. P.S. when she gets emotional over great stuff she has never heard, it reminds me of the first time I heard it. Love you guys 😊😎
This song makes me cry enough for the both of us. I lost my little brother to suicide on Christmas day 1996. We were both huge Metallica fans and one of my greatest memories of him is being front row seeing Metallica together.
Holy shit. This video made me cry like a baby. Not just the song, also the discussion. I've never looked at the song the way you did. My godfather commited suicide in december of 2015 and this fucking pulled on my heartstrings.
I like how sensitive you are to music. There's nothing wrong with that. This song instills a sense of melencholy, which exists in everyone from time to time. Its regret, disillusionment and doom that some people can't find the strength to bear. I almost want to cry thinking about it.
Wolf you are a lucky man. Sistah is so beautiful and empathetic. The way she feels the music is contagious. I also respect your music taste from Metallic, Floyd and Tool...plus many more. Keep rocking and introducing Sistah to great music. Thanks from NYC.
I think I understand halfsista’s sensibilities. You have to do “to live is to die”. She needs to be moved solely by music. And this song will do that. Not to mention, almost no one reviews that song.
@@FatAmericanMantittys I 100% agree. Orion has everything a fan of Mettalica could want without the lyrics. That song takes me to places that no other song has ever taken me.
You can try all you want to explain the meaning of the song, but you will never know, you will never understand, and you can never tell someone else what it means, until you, and only you, have lived, experienced, and felt the depth of that level of despair, described in this song. You just cannot know it, until you know it. Just as you can't know what love is, until you've known love, you can't know what sorrow, grief, or despair is, until you've known them. This song holds a much deeper meaning to me, because I've known exactly what he describes.
I'm about to watch this. And lemme tell you...I've cried like a baby many many times to this. Nowadays, recently, it warms my heart, and makes me feel free....I got through whatever I was going through thanks to this song. And now that song is gratitude and joy for having gotten through it. There is no right or wrong way to be moved by it.

ive listened to fade to black quit a few times. ive maybe cried once to it, but it was because of how I was feeling at that time from things in my personal life when I heard it. much like any song that's brought up emotions like that. great song for sure \m/
I will never be disappointed if you didn’t cry 😢. I don’t like crying 😭 I Love 💗 the Big Beautiful Smile you display, God Bless you,and your hubby Love you both
'One' is also an awesome choice, the proper film clip with the video f behind it gives it so much expression, it's amazing that Metallica has so many songs that just hit the soul.
One is Metallica's take on the war story Johnny Got His Gun. It's an almost perfect musical interpretation. The film clip used in the video, while unnecessary, definitely enhances the impact.
Crying is more than emotions sometimes. I think it's wonderful that you can on occasion. 😊 It gets stuck in some of us. Really enjoyed both of you and your conversation.
Every time I hear the solo at the end all I can picture is after the deed is done the last fragments of memories are being called upon one last time as an e.m.t. worker tries to resuscitate the victim. The memories play out and slowly fade away as the e.m.t. starts realizing that the time of death needs to called.
I've got one or actually two. Before I reveal, understand that I'm 50 and a hard rock/metal fan for a long time. I love and respect your reactions. The 2 songs I'm about to suggest have not only renewed my "faith" in metal but have secured it. PLEASE, not only listen to but react, both of you to Jinjer. Specifically to Pisces(live studio) but the official video of their song entitled," I Speak Astronomy". Not only is the band talented but her voice gives me goosebumps! Especially after the silent breakdown in I Speak Astronomy. I think sistah would really enjoy, even if she doesn't cry. Please consider! Keep rocking and thanks for your reactions! Much love!
I still remember 10+ years ago when I discovered this song on the radio and I only heard it from when he said "Goodbye" with the solo onward. Took me about a couple of weeks to a month find it based on that going crazy. Well worth of effort thought 🙌🏾
Many folks have lost someone close - whether suicide or not, think PTSD , drugs, etc, where those unfortunate individuals who have lost themselves truly have an affect of the people around them . . . . and the helplessness & angst that these folks feel ( the " fuck , that sucks ! " ) is what Fade to Black is about , especially the build at the end. The raw headbang is why SO many people rate this song as top notch. It's not only for the actual victim , but the secondary folks , the families & friends etc that the song is written for / toward.
Sistah, apparently you feel power-metal better...try synphonic metal: Nightwish - "Ghost Love Score" (official live at Wacken 2013 with Floor Jansen fronting...).
A song I can guarantee will bring tears to anyone's eyes is "When the Children Cry" by White Lion. I've seen people from lifestyles of hard-core bikers to soft-spoken librarians react to that song, and every one of them had a tear at some point before the song was over.
I remember in 1986,listening to the radio, keep in mind Metallica was never on the radio in those days, atleast to me,I have NEVER heard Metallica on the radio before this ...... and I hear the Dj come on & say something about a terrble accident & I heard the name Metallica & I immidietly turned up the radio, they said The bassist for Metallica & said his name & said had died at the scene .... And while Im trying to digest this I hear the intro to Fade to Black starting up ... Because of this I always connect this song to be about them Losing Cliff, even though The accident didnt even happen for another year or two after tis song, but to me it was a huge moment when the Dj Mentioned the accident & then played this song.
This song is how I feel many days. I've loved it for as long as I can remember. It's a beautiful song but sometimes also a painful reminder of how some of my days go.
I can understand you not shedding a tear with this one if you don't take the lyrics into consideration. It's the contrast between the music and the lyrics that draws out the emotion. The music is so peaceful, serene and calm to start and ending in a fury. But the lyrics paint a very different picture, sad, bleak and very heartbreaking. The picture that is painted by this song is in such odds with each other that upon listening to it the first few times, your mind is just unsure of how to react. Thank you very much for doing this one, I really enjoyed it.
The way you reacted was completely appropriate for you. You felt what you felt in the way you did because of who you are. I believe that if one expects something different than that, they misunderstand the nuance of another person as separate from themselves. Certainly for me, it is nice when someone reacts similarly to me, but it is also insightful when something new is brought to the table. Thank you for your honesty😌🙏
Hey All Just wanted to say The last song Jason Newsted (Bass Player) Played on stage with the band was this song. When they played the concert Jason already knew it was his last show, he had all but told his band mates. The song ended up being a request for the crowd that night. Crazy right! Fade To Black >;-)
Do Suicide & Redemption. Amazing instrumental and deeply emotional guitar work. Basically almost the entire Death Magnetic rules. God, how fucking underrated is that album!....
To those who think this song is about suicide, that could not be farther than from the truth. At this point in time in their lives they had there music equipment stolen. This song was the outcome of what happened.
Several people point that out but just because that happened during the writing of the song doesn't mean it's not about suicide. It certainly isn't about their stuff getting stolen. Lars has even said in an interview that they were obsessed with death at the time and the lyrics addressed suicidal thoughts.
This. Right there.

@@hansolo12p27 I was about idk a year or something. My dad would play metallica 24/7 in the car growing up. I'm 18 now, I listen to metallica 24/7 and I have a daughter who will do the same thing lol. I play guitar and I can play every song they produced (rhythm only lol).
You might not have cried but I did. I don't always but sometimes. I heard it the day it hit the shelves and now 30+ years later it can still tweak my soul depending on the day. I'm glad you got to listen and appreciate. I love your format, It's a pleasure to subscribe. Thank you.
Death - Voice of the Soul!!!
A masterpiece💓
Obra maestra!!!!
Alex Vettorato one of my favorite instrumentals
23 years later... TWENTY THREE FREAKING YEARS LATER... And this song STILL gives me goosebumps. There aren't many songs that develop a true emotional connection to me. I lost the first love of my life to suicide when I was 16. Just before she died, she gave me a tape with this song on it. I was listening to it not 15 minutes before I found out... Great now I need a drink.
It's amazing, baby! ♥
whether you cry or not, the unforgiven by metallica is my favourite song of all time, its definately worth a listen
That song has made me cry
@@andreasmith3439 unforgiven 2 is atleast the saddest
@@venon4575 i ll just say to live is to die interlude part if u know who cliff burton is
More than anything the reason I enjoy reaction videos is they are a moment to just sit down and appreciate music. You know it's good music when it's a song you've been listening to for 25 years and it still makes you stop and just listen to the absolute beauty of it all. This song is probably the one I would credit not only getting me into metal but music in general, and to this day that fact combined with the nature of the song makes me teary eyed almost every time.
Kipex mmmwwwaaahhh!😘🤗💖
I didn't appreciate load and reload first either, but if you go back, they were great. You have to consider they took a 7 year break, and grew up a lot. They changed, but I now love those albums
im still here not liking either album, but the last few albums where a start to thier return to form with a very Thrash Metal sound they havent had in a long time
Ok.....I couldn't resist it anymore.... I had to subscribe!! I love the dynamic that you two have! You 2 are SO beautiful together!! And Sistah.....you're rocking that blouse!! Beautiful!!!
I just want to thank you all so much for the continued love and support you give to our channel. I appreciate you all for accepting me and understanding me, as a (sometimes) overly emotional being ^_^ There is NO BETTER feeling in the world, than to feel accepted and understood.
Some people come across my channel and over criticize me for being the way that I am. They do not understand me. But, thankfully, the majority of you, who watch our reactions and have subscribed to us, do. You understand and accept what we have to offer to this youtube world of reaction channels. It feels so wonderful =) You are all so beautiful.
virtual hugs and kisses on the forehead to all of you.
Peace. Love and light.
This is what a good song is called... Different levels, different parts, not that monotonic repeat of most R&B or country songs! Top 100 songs all time without a question.
Pink Floyd comfortably numb! You will love it I promise! Full of passion especially from the music itself...close your eyes and play the song and you will feel it!
This song saved my life when I as 14-15 but it never made me cry. I filled me up with beauty and wonderment. I used to listen to it while walking to school and the intro was always in a wooden area and nature just came alive.
I love love love how dude man sits there with that smug grin like he made the music... 🤣 It's fucking awesome. That's how I feel when I show someone great music lol
In 2010 my sweet baby boy was stillborn..this song was my go to song..I cant even count how many times I had listened to this beautiful song and how many tears had poured down my face from heartbreak and desperation..this song was the best outlet I could have had...I will cherish this song till the end of time..
"Missing one in side of me...."
Sorry to hear that
@@WolfKain thank you 💜
Hell yeah. The first time I got my truck metallica came on the radio. The song was ride the lightning
Mark Keller aaaawwwe, I love YOU!😘 Thank you, sunshine!🤗💖🤘🏾😃🙃
This song makes me cry enough for the both of us. I lost my little brother to suicide on Christmas day 1996. We were both huge Metallica fans and one of my greatest memories of him is being front row seeing Metallica together.
Metallica-one
Holy shit. This video made me cry like a baby. Not just the song, also the discussion. I've never looked at the song the way you did. My godfather commited suicide in december of 2015 and this fucking pulled on my heartstrings.
🖤✊🤘
I like how sensitive you are to music. There's nothing wrong with that. This song instills a sense of melencholy, which exists in everyone from time to time. Its regret, disillusionment and doom that some people can't find the strength to bear. I almost want to cry thinking about it.
Wolf you are a lucky man. Sistah is so beautiful and empathetic. The way she feels the music is contagious. I also respect your music taste from Metallic, Floyd and Tool...plus many more. Keep rocking and introducing Sistah to great music. Thanks from NYC.
To live is to die 🤘🏻🔥
Holy shit. That cut deep for me!
I cannot listen to this song when I am depressed. It seems to suck me into an abyss. When I am not depressed, I love it.
I think I understand halfsista’s sensibilities. You have to do “to live is to die”. She needs to be moved solely by music. And this song will do that. Not to mention, almost no one reviews that song.
Freddy Gomez Orion is better for that I think .
@@FatAmericanMantittys I 100% agree. Orion has everything a fan of Mettalica could want without the lyrics. That song takes me to places that no other song has ever taken me.
Didn't NEED you to cry! Just LOVE it!!!!! Thank you!!!!!!
thewdc love you!🤗😘😘💖
"I Died For You" by Iced Earth. That will put tears in your eyes.
To Live is to Die is much more of an emotional song and should definitely be the next Metallica song!
Richard Tang much more emotional than fade to black? Ya I don’t think so pal
One last thing is that the beginning of To Live Is To Die is that it is heavy at first but then becomes soft towards the middle and sort of the end.
Dude and Dudettes...Metallica is a legend for a reason. Agree with Petgeek...this is how a reaction video is done. Ya'll killing it in every video I see. Love it. Keep up the good work...every video from ya'll i see just makes me more of a fan. Can't wait to see you with 1 million subscribes and more. Stay Blessed and Stay Well.
Love it. Please try 'To Live, is to Die'. Another instrumental but it was written for Cliff and uses his some of his poetry. Beautiful song, has made me tear up in the past. Metallica is for everyone, Metallica forever. Thanks guys!
ive listened to fade to black quit a few times. ive maybe cried once to it, but it was because of how I was feeling at that time from things in my personal life when I heard it. much like any song that's brought up emotions like that. great song for sure \m/
No one could hate Fade to Black
I will never be disappointed if you didn’t cry 😢. I don’t like crying 😭 I Love 💗 the Big Beautiful Smile you display, God Bless you,and your hubby Love you both
luis hernandez thank you, sunshine and I'm sorry I'm just now seeing this sweet comment. Love and light to you🤗😘😘😘💖
"Wrong side of heaven" Five finger death punch. That song hits home for alot of us vets. Must watch video with it.
She reminds me of the radio D.J. in The Warriors.
Crying is more than emotions sometimes. I think it's wonderful that you can on occasion. 😊 It gets stuck in some of us. Really enjoyed both of you and your conversation.
Roy buchanan "hey joe" live. Its a very strong feeling cover that will hit anyone who listens deeply. Keep rockin, love yall!!
Every time I hear the solo at the end all I can picture is after the deed is done the last fragments of memories are being called upon one last time as an e.m.t. worker tries to resuscitate the victim. The memories play out and slowly fade away as the e.m.t. starts realizing that the time of death needs to called.
bill seemore It kinda gives me a similar feeling
CALL. OF. KTULU. A must.
Much love!
Voice of soul by death. That Song is a masterpiece!
Cliff Burton is the reason I played the bass and still do . That was a sad day in 1986 when I heard about his death
ok here is one to cry :)
Nightwish - Dead Boy's Poem
Dammm , I love nightwish...... and Metalllica too >//
I still remember 10+ years ago when I discovered this song on the radio and I only heard it from when he said "Goodbye" with the solo onward. Took me about a couple of weeks to a month find it based on that going crazy. Well worth of effort thought 🙌🏾
*Disturbed- sound of silence*
I do cry when I hear this song, because this song hits home so much. I struggle with depression, and suicidal thoughts everyday.
For me this song is about the difficult situation, that James Hetifield expressed, the loss and the death, of his friend and bassist Cliff Burtton.
That was dyers Eve I thought, that was about cliff
Darwin Bautista but cliff is playing on this track....
Nathan Kiddle lol
This is before cliffs passing...
TBH I always thought this song was about a soldier in war thank you clearing that up you 2 rock
The song, "One" is.
Metallica!!! Yes!!!
Hi, Sunshine!! Metallica is awesome!!
A tout le monde - Megadeth
So far away - Avenged Sevenfold
Those may hit the spot.
This is why i watch reaction Videos....enjoying the Music, when no ones here with me....but to see the pleasure on ur faces.
Sistah, apparently you feel power-metal better...try synphonic metal: Nightwish - "Ghost Love Score" (official live at Wacken 2013 with Floor Jansen fronting...).
I second that
Otsobeltz I really want to listen to them! WOLF, are you listening?!🙌🏾😣💖
A song I can guarantee will bring tears to anyone's eyes is "When the Children Cry" by White Lion. I've seen people from lifestyles of hard-core bikers to soft-spoken librarians react to that song, and every one of them had a tear at some point before the song was over.
What a cool couple, seems like they would be fun to know.
I have to agree To Live is to Die is the only choice, one of the most emotional songs ever ans also happen to be a tribute song for Cliff Burton .
Mirza Delić it was the last song he worked on, my favorite Metallica song. I can understand why they don't play it at live shows.
This song is how I feel many days. I've loved it for as long as I can remember. It's a beautiful song but sometimes also a painful reminder of how some of my days go.
I can't stop staring at the beautiful lady
I can understand you not shedding a tear with this one if you don't take the lyrics into consideration. It's the contrast between the music and the lyrics that draws out the emotion. The music is so peaceful, serene and calm to start and ending in a fury. But the lyrics paint a very different picture, sad, bleak and very heartbreaking. The picture that is painted by this song is in such odds with each other that upon listening to it the first few times, your mind is just unsure of how to react. Thank you very much for doing this one, I really enjoyed it.
Burlyhawk aaawwwe, I loved your comment! Thank you, love! 😘😘😘🤗💖🤘🏾
I wonder how Sistah would feel about something from Mastodon, very intense, immersive and progressive. Maybe Oblivion!
His grin at 0:08. lol
Yo A Tout Le Monde should be next. Very emotional and make sure to tell her why Megadeth wrote the song
For sure
They should also do "Life Fades Away", by Roy Orbison.
Yeah, I haven't seen anyone reacting to that song yet.
Sound of silence by disturbed will be sure to make some tears come out!
I love how you both just shut your eyes and feel the music. Great video
To Live Is To Die
This song always helps me through my depression ironically.
You should try Disturbed’s cover of The Sound of Silence. Also Metallica’s Unforgiven/Unforgiven Too (good combo)
I play this every time I pick up my guitar it's one of the best songs ever written
That's ok, I cried for us. Makes me cry every time. Makes me think of a dark time in my past.🤘
crazexskater I'm happy to know your times are not so dark, anyone, sunshine! 🤗😘💖
Bless you. 🤟🏼
Hey All
Just wanted to say
The last song Jason Newsted (Bass Player) Played on stage with the band was this song.
