Brilliant video chris!i love the half marathon distance, got the Blackpool half in April cant wait!👍
your enthusiasm and joy is fantastic. thanks for the video. made me excited for my race this weekend.
Thanks Casey. I do like to have fun when I'm running 😀
Hope you have a great time in your race.
That looked great and you were barely out of breath, well done 👏
Thanks Helen. I ran it in a controlled way, probably a bit faster than I had intended, what with the Manchester Marathon only a few weeks away but my legs certainly felt it on Monday and Tuesday. First run of the week today and they are feeling ok.
Well done Chris. A brilliant run ! Perfect build up for Manchester I reckon 😃
Thanks Claire. It was certainly a good test of the legs for Manchester. Now I just need to manage a 20 miler this weekend.
Well done Chris. Looks like a fun event and course. Another step closer to Manchester. The time will pass quickly now. Cheers! Phil
Thanks Phil. The days are passing really quickly now. Hopefully I'll manage a 20 miler on Sunday and then a short 2 week taper till race day.
Well run Chris and great to see you really enjoying the event and the finish straight! In a good place now for Manchester !
Thanks Michael. This event was really easy to enjoy, such a fantastic atmosphere before, after and during the race and my first half marathon race for a long time. Really missed racing this distance.
I really need some practice at drinking out of a cup whilst running. You made it look easy! I stopped then walked then threw half of it away in my recent 10k race.
Haha, drinking out of a cup does need a bit of practice. I found squeezing the top to creat a bit of a spout, helped. But you also need to not drinking too much in one go. I'm still thinking for Manchester that I'll run with a hydration vest. I can do a HM without much water but for a marathon, I'll definitely need more hydration.
I ran the 10k and I threw half of it down me (not intentional) then nearly drowned on my first gulp. Cups are tough!
@@nrjonesy 😄 can't argue with that mate... I might have to run around my back yard with a plastic beaker and see if I can get the hang of it lol.
Probs best to take your own water 😄
Brilliant video Chris! So good to meet you! 😊 😊 😊
Thanks Kerry, great to meet you too and so glad that you enjoyed the day 👍
Great race vlog! Atmosphere looked great! Looks like you had a great time throughout! Made it look easy!
Thanks Laura. It's always a fantastic atmosphere at Run Reigate. Something a bit special about this event.
Great vlog! A great time and you really showcased the route well
Thanks Dan, it is a great event and I loved the new course 👍
Just behind you Chris with a 1:48:57, great vid, cheers
Almost identical times. Well done. Hope you enjoyed it.
oooft!!! thats a cruel hill right near the end!!!
You defintiely need to be prepared for that hill and have saved a bit of energy but once at the top, it's a great feeling running down to the finish.
Thanks for the journey as always Chris!
Thanks George 👍😀
loved the chat with the pacer, great to see such acknowledgement of someone filming. Loving 11:23
Thanks Harry. Last time I ran with Jason the pacer, I was attempting sub 1:40 and he left me at the half way stage, so it was good to stay ahead of him this time. Hard to shake him off though 😂
I had so many people come up to me before after and during the race, to say hello or just to wave at the camera, it was great.
Well done Chris, I'll look out for you in Manchester in a couple of weeks 👍
Thanks Mark 👍😀
Brilliant video. I was helping as race crew this year and was cheering you all on just after the top of Horse Hill before the mile 7 marker. I will be running it next year !!!
Thanks Caroline and thank you for volunteering. All the volunteers were really encouraging, more so than ever and it makes a massive difference 👏👏👏
@@HereWeAreRunning I’m marshalling again next weekend at the Surrey Half so may see you
I'm not at the Surrey Half this year. I need to try and get my final long run done for the Manchester Marathon on Sunday morning. Enjoyed it last year though, one of the last events before everything got cancelled.
Great vlog Chris, looked like you had fun👍
Thanks Chris. I a lot of fun and so good to have it back.
Really nice race day feel to this one!
It absolutely is, a great atmosphere which is why it's won many awards. I really missed it last year but great to have it back again.
Excellent video, that looked like a great day.
Thanks. Yes, it really was a fantastic day.
Wow that final hill would be a huge kick in the teeth if you were pushing for a pb. Great video chris 👍
Thanks Lee. Definitely not a PB course but a great race to take part in for the atmosphere and the challenge of those hills, especially the one at mile 12!! Lovely free ride down to the finish once you get to the top of it 😄
@@HereWeAreRunning i remember watching your video from a few years ago on the same race. you've come so far.
Well done Chris!! Congrats!!
Thanks Jeremy 👍😃
You make it look so calm and easy. well done!!
Thanks. My races are either calm and easy or struggle and suffer, nothing in between 😄
@@HereWeAreRunning That's the way we like em;)
Very well done Chris!!!
Thanks Suzie 👍😃
I’m new to running but I’m determined to run in an organised half marathon next year, it looked a fantastic event, great video Chris 🏃♂️👍
Thanks Steve. This is a great half marathon to take part in and it was the first half marathon that I ever ran, back in 2017. It's certainly a tough one to do as your first but it does make the flat ones feel a lot easier, after you've done this one.
My plan is to run Exeter first I think in May 🤞
Good plan
Impressive time while filming! The legs are back 🙂💪🏻
Thanks. Yep, legs held up well. Knew about it on Moday and Tuesday but were ok during today's run. Final long run planned for Sunday morning and then a 2 week taper for Manchester.
@@HereWeAreRunning Good luck with the Marathon! 2 weeks for me. You going for a PB or just enjoying the day?
Great video Chris! I love the approach to water that the event has taken, hopefully more events will follow suit 👍🏻
Thanks Julie. Yes, I great idea to use tap water, straight out of stand pipes. It tasted much nicer that bottled water and no plastic. All events should do it.
Great review Chris, and showed a bit of everything about the event. I quite liked the new course, Horse Hill wasn't as bad as I thought and nice gradual downhill after that. Good luck at Manchester!
Thanks Neil. I liked that we didn't really know what Horse Hill was going to be like, so it was all a bit new to everyone. The gradual downhill afterwards seem to last for ages, which was great.
You made sub 1.48 look easy, always good to see Jason doing a cracking job pacing. I was looking forward to running this year but came down with the flu. Good luck in Manchester.
Thanks Matthew. May legs felt it afterwards but overall I felt comfortable running at that pace and finished with a similar time to 2019 although 6 mins off of my course best time, set in 2017. Sorry to hear that you missed it, hopefully you can take part next year, it's such a great event.
Well done, that hill at the end looks tough
Thanks mate. You definitely need to save some energy for the final hill and climb it slowly but once you are at the top, it's a great feeling coasting downhill to the finish.
Great review / run Chris! Really enjoyed the new route, hopefully they’ll keep it! Great to meet you just before the beginning of the race and was just behind you as you finished too!
Thanks for saying hello and great to share the sprint along the finishing straight with you, well done!
Great video Chris - shame I missed the 10k :(
Thanks Mark. Oh, that is a shame, always next year.
Well done Chris. Looks like a nice route 👍
Thanks Ben, I preferred the new route, even though it included an extra hill! 😀
Another epic race vlog as always Chris! The race looked wicked great atmosphere and you captured it all really well! I especially enjoyed the shot of the porta loo lorry at the start 😂 keep up the great work Chris! 😎🤘🏻
Thanks Ben. That wasn't a porta loo lorry though 😂 Thank was full of drinking water. Then out on the course the biodegradable cups were being filled with tap water from standing pipes in the road. It tasted really good, much nicer than bottled water and no plastic waste.
Great effort, Chris! I really liked the editing as well. I know you’ve been training in a handful of different shoes, I’m curious what you raced in for this race?
Thanks Andy. I gave the Prism V2's a try. I needed a longer run in them before I make a review and despite my current love/hate relationship with them, they were better than I thought over the HM distance.
Thanks for sharing. Inspiration for my aim.of 1:40 at age 60.
I will be back at this race in a couple of weeks, this time as a pacer.
I got 2:02 for Richmond. Hoping there are pacers for the Hackney half this Sunday so I can break the sub 2hr mark . We have to take a lateral flow test 24 hours beforehand 🙈, never done one before.
Good luck on Sunday at Hackney. There are pacers at the Hackney Half and quite a few of them for 2 hours. Find one of them at the start, have a chat with them and then stick to them like glue 😄
The lateral flow tests are straightforward just remember to register the result on the the NHS website, which is also easy and you'll get a text message you can show as evidence.
Im glad you can still drink tapwater in the UK😊
And it tastes good
Looks like a fun route Chris, think I’d prefer the Antrim coast half, much flatter 😂
Great video, how did you find the Prism 2’s?
It certainly is a great route and a challenging one. I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with the Prism 2's. I'll explain more when I do the review which will be coming as soon as I get a chance to make it.
@@HereWeAreRunning still enjoying the 1st Prism, some greats deals to be had on them at the minute too, like the 860v11’s I got for £75 I might buy a 2nd pair just for the sake of it 😂😂😂
Yep - I still have some life in my original Prism's which I loved and ran fast times over every distance, from 1 mile to Marathons. The Prism V2 is a very different should though. Seems like they changed it too much and instead of improving it, they've taken a step backwards.
@@HereWeAreRunning that’s not good, hope they don’t do the same with the new 860v12 when it comes out.
Did the half in 2019. Was meant to do the half thus year but downgraded to 10k. Tempted by the half again next year. Tough course.
Tough course but a great challenge. I'll definitely be back again next year.
@@HereWeAreRunning see you next year
Saw you finishing Chris and gave you a cheer! Well done with it, great time.
Thanks for that 👍😀
My cheering down the finishing straight was fantastic.
Hello Chris haven't seen you for a while any news?
Hi Chris - work, life and losing my running mojo a bit but I'm on my way back. I'll be doing Run Reigate again in a few weeks time.
@@HereWeAreRunning Hi Chris I've been there myself mate keep strong I'm sure you will get things back to where you were before 👍
Are you running tomorrow (2022)?
Yes I am. I'll be doing the half marathon again.
This is a lovely video through beautiful scenery. I enjoy your parkrun videos ----- but where is the odd guy who runs in a tuxedo with his dog???? He has appeared in two of your videos now. Where is Tuxedo Man?? LOL.
Thanks Cathy. Didn't see him at Run Reigate but he's a regular at parkrun.
@@HereWeAreRunning Tuxedo man makes me laugh -- his outfit is just so stunningly wrong for a running event. I'm sure that's why he does it!
