The Pixies were so good back in the '80s, They were great live in concert ticket price $3.50, I wish there was a time machine so I can go back to the '80s,

Jay&Amber, for female Friday: Jackie DeShannon - "Put a Little Love in Your Heart" or "What the World Needs Now Is Love"!! ! She’s one of the early singer-songwriters. She co-wrote Put a Little Love in Your Heart. She wrote the music for her original “Bette Davis Eyes”, lyrics by Donna Weiss. Kim Carnes cover of Bette Davis Eyes was a worldwide hit/record of the year, w/a very different arrangement.
edit- the Pixies "Hey" wasn't a single, and today's song barely charted. Try one of their top 10 US Alternative chart hits, like "Here Comes Your Man".
And Jimmy Page played guitar on those Jackie DeShannon songs!
100% agree great recommendations
@@philvallee645 thank you!
@@smd2169 Wow, I never would have known! I see he played on Petula Clark's "Downtown" as well.
@@surlechapeau He was kind of the studio go-to for everyone in the early/mid 60’s.
Go back and watch your reaction to "Hey". You really liked it and wore the same faces thru the video 😁
Monkey Gone to Heaven must be your next Pixies reaction
I don't know whether I've heard this much since the album was released but I can still remember it. It's pretty good.
I always thought this sounded like a mix between The Violent Femmes and Weezer. I dig it. This is the music from the last scene in Fight Club. Rock on, yall!
"a majestic angel voice", that would be Kim Deal the bass player, she sings in quite a few of The Pixies songs, and her own band The Breeders. She also has some mildly successful solo projects.
I love how the Pixies issued an apology for this song inadvertently shutting off people’s (Google assistant) alarms in the morning because of “STOP.” 😂
Wow, I wonder what the bit right after _Oh My Golly!_ would make happen. 😉
Ha! I’m going to see these guys live tomorrow night in Seattle!
"Hey" > "Where is my mind?" - This is that one song that casuals know from the movie Fight Club and insist they know the band 😂
WOW. Definitely hear The Pixies in Nirvana.
Song immortalised in Fight Club
They have so many great songs, and have been around since the early 80s! Monkey Gone to Heaven, Velouria, Dig For Fire/Allison...soooo many good songs!! ❤️
Struggling to describe Frank Black's voice is a common issue; love seeing you folks delve into this.
Fairly similar to trying to explain to my girlfriend that I LOVE Bob Dylan's voice. They just fit.
The Pixies are one of my all-time favorite bands and were definitely ahead of their time and influenced so many bands in the 90s. Kurt Cobain said he was just trying to write Pixies songs when he was writing Nirvana songs. I've always loved the harmonies between Charles (lead singer) & Kim (bass player singing the oooo ooos). This song was also the perfect song used for the ending of Fight Club a movie that you should definitely react to although it is a bit brutal :).
I could go on for hours recommending songs but I'll just list some of their top songs, "Velouria", "Vamos", "I've Been Tired", "In Heaven" (Kim's version), "Tame", "Here Comes Your Man", "Monkey Gone To Heaven", "Gigantic" (Kim's version), "Wave of Mutilation" (UK Surf) & "La La Love You" since its sung by David Lovering (Drummer). Also some of their most recent songs e.g. "Greens & Blues" & "Indie Cindie".
