Tool army here! Do their entire discography, and we will come. I can't wait for you to hear the Holy Trinity! Their music will take you on an indelible journey. Spiral out!
Tool is the genre lol “Tool-Pneuma” next! Then do the live drum cam footage of their drummer Danny Carey doing this song. It is a live concert but just footage of the drummer
I heard this song after I bought the CD and it changed my life. What I got from the music and the lyrics pushed me into a better way of thinking about myself and I’ve never been the same since.
Maynard James Keenan is a genius. This song is partly based on Carl Jung’s theory that as we evolve as humans that it will add chromosomes and take us to the next level of consciousness. You should check out Maynard’s other two bands Perfect Circle and Puscifier
All TOOL songs are bad ass, which always puts me at a loss as to what to recommend. Just take a dart and toss it at a list of songs and we'll enjoy your thoughtful reactions!
When you dive into the lyrics. I recommend letting your own mind feel out the meaning for yourself. Maynard is one of the greatest lyricists of all time. He mostly writes specifically so it can be subjective in it's meaning. The name of the band is even ment as a 'Tool' to self improvement / understanding. Keep going! Remember the journey is personal even if you share it.
So many excellent Tool songs, you really can't go wrong. Definitely check out the Pneuma drum cam, Eulogy, the Grudge, Right in Two. And of course Lateralus. Enjoy the spiral!
Every new Tool song is your new favorite Tool song. You've just barely scratched the surface. It seems like you're pretty musically experienced so I think you're ready for Pneuma, unless you've done it already. Watch the Official vic furth drum cam video. The reason I'm bringing you right to the drum cam video, is the audio quality is still amazing and you can hear every instrument and the vocals very well. But you'll want to see Danny Carey do his thing on the drum set. They call him the octopus.
Seeing people get blown away by TOOL is STILL one of my favorite pastimes. Over 30 years old band and all their content still sounds fresh. ...and yes, there is no other band you can compare to TOOL. They are their own genre.
TOOL Army will tell you - there is not a single bad song in their catalogue. There are some songs (ask) that are spread across 2 or 3 tracks sequentially. It is best to hear those "together as one". Like Parabol + Parabola - Wings For Marie +10,000 days (I think those 2 are subtitled as Part I and Part II). Learn To SWIM & Spiral Out
@@davidward9737 - bought Undertow (likely) the day it was released (I used to DJ in a bar, and would buy 5-10 CDs every week on Tuesdays (used to be release date)). Still like AEnima as my Tool Album of choice. And the older the Tool album, the more familiar I am with it. Lateralus has been my main Tool album for 6+ months (but will still take AEnema if I could only choose one). But i like the deepnintrospective lyrics on self and humanity (i just grew up on angry Tool).
@@scottdolby that is cool you bought Undertow when it was released. Aenima is my all time fav, I was 16 when it was released in 96. Used to listen to it on my portable cd player everywhere. I tell people that before "Spiral Out" became a saying us older Tool heads used the phrase "Learn to swim" so when I saw that you said that, I was like that is a older Tool fan just like me. As you I like older darker grittier Tool, it is what I 1st heard. But love all of it
Yup.. folks will say Tool is their own genre… and it’s not really hyperbole. Glad you’re going to keep doing Tool reactions, it’s nice to hear more musically based feedback other than “that was cool”. Nice reaction. 👊
Maynard voice is tucked into the music in that way for a reason. So You can do your research of what the song is saying. They never had the Lyrics with the physical album until the recent album, we had to find it on their website. The website was a puzzle in its own lol Never will be a band like them ever again
On your recommendation I just listened to the song by Dream Theater. First certain the instrumental intro is very reminiscent of the intro to this song. Good ear!
Your reactions to tool are some of the best on youtube! Check out H on this album next and then do the Grudge on Lateralus. Or honestly just through each album song by song lol
Awesome. All those bands you ripped through should pay some homage to Tool. I hear Tool in most of their songs. Just as Tool pays homage to King Crimson, Pink Floyd, Led Zep... Spiritbox carved out a unique prog metal sound. "Holy Roller" for one.
shout out to all the tool army vets, digging through reaction channels, hoping to vicariously relive their first times
30+ year listener of Tool, my absolute favorite band, no one compares.
Parabol/Parabola is my favorite from Lateralus. They have to be listened to together.
The Grudge!! One of their more intense songs right off the start! Crazy drumming and an epic scream! Don't hold onto grudges..they will destroy you!

Tool is more of an experience than a band. Danny is a polyrhythmic master. Continue down the rabbit hole and keep Spiraling Out...

Tool -The Grudge is one of their best tracks
Third eye, Intension, Disgustipated, Choc Chip Trip, 4°, etc etc
Pneuma - danny carry drum cam if you really want to appreciate insane drums

Best Tool album listen to H on this album
Welcome to TOOL. They have a ton of great tunes. My favourites from them are Vicarious, Right In Two, Pneuma, Tempest and Descending.
You can never get "too holistic" when you're talking about 46 and 2. It is its nature..
So many excellent Tool songs, you really can't go wrong. Definitely check out the Pneuma drum cam, Eulogy, the Grudge, Right in Two. And of course Lateralus.
Enjoy the spiral!

Learn To SWIM & Spiral Out
Yes you included Learn to Swim. You must be old school Tool fan

I always called Tool the Pink Floyd of Metal
GREAT REACTION! I would go to Pneuma next then do the Drum cam w/ Danny 🐙 Carey.
🌀Spiral🌀Out🌀KeepGoin🌀
You need to hear their song "Pneuma" but get the Danny Carey Drum Cam version. Tool is my favorite band and has been since I discovered them in 2007.
Yup.. folks will say Tool is their own genre… and it’s not really hyperbole. Glad you’re going to keep doing Tool reactions, it’s nice to hear more musically based feedback other than “that was cool”. Nice reaction. 👊
TOOL: musicians for musicians
It’s an interesting ride to start at the beginning and listen to the evolution of the band
Vicarious and Right in Two are bangers!
I reacted to vicarious some time ago 😏
welcome for sure. H is a good song and bottom is a great one as well.
Maynard almost always keeps his vocals deep in the track. He is an instrument as well.
Another great reaction!! You should definitely check out the lyrics to Tool, there's so much to appreciate in them.

Never will be a band like them ever again
Here for your Tool journey... my vote for next song is Right In Two (my personal fave)... spiral out!
I would strongly recommend descending
Dream Theatre comes up often in relation to Tool. Lots of similarities.
I’m loving watching u fall in love with them!
Im happy you're enjoying as much as I am :)
O'Keefe Music Foundation students cover this song. It's a must-see, and a lot of reactors do it next. You'll love it.
A must watch.
Absolutely! The kids absolutely nailed it.
I second this
New to me..but luv this one..great choice.❤
On your recommendation I just listened to the song by Dream Theater. First certain the instrumental intro is very reminiscent of the intro to this song. Good ear!
If you react to all of Tool's discography, the Tool Army will witness it.
Your reactions to tool are some of the best on youtube! Check out H on this album next and then do the Grudge on Lateralus. Or honestly just through each album song by song lol
Tool released this song in 1996. 7 years before Hand of God. We know who influenced who. 😅
Tool did a cover of No Quarter by Led Zeppelin. You’d dig it man, it’s a doozy
Awesome. All those bands you ripped through should pay some homage to Tool. I hear Tool in most of their songs. Just as Tool pays homage to King Crimson, Pink Floyd, Led Zep...
Spiritbox carved out a unique prog metal sound. "Holy Roller" for one.
Tool is one of those rare bands that’s never had a bad song made.
I recommend you react to Tool
Here for TOOL 🔧 Lateralus if you want to spiral out 🌀
The scale is known as Phrygian dominant fyi
Ooh thanks, I was NOT figuring that out on my own haha
Polyrhythm is the word you're looking for
🤘🏻🌀
Damnit, you mentioned Dream Theater and now I have to subscribe.
Moar Tool
A lot of the stranger guitar tones are actually coming from the bass guitar.
My husband called Tool basic, nearly caused a divorce.
Check out Danny Carey ( Tool's drummer ) song Pneuma, he's insane. Great reaction btw, new to your channel and subbed.
