Rap Rat Trapped bro you just need to go on a tool marathon. They are very unique and interesting. Try checking out some live performances too, Maynard (their vocalist) is a madman
Tool pushes the boundaries of how different a band can sound with only slight tweaks to each instruments' sound, but topic, length, volume/dynamics, tempo, time signatures take this limited palate, and use the extreme talent of each player to make the variations seem infinite.
The best video to have picked!!! It explains the meaning behind the lyrics. Most of Tool’s lyrics have hidden and intellectual meanings. My favorite band!
Eh.. it distracts from the music and doesn’t let you interpret it for yourself first. I think this video is for someone who’s already heard the song and been into tool for a while. It’s got you reading paragraphs at the awesome music breakdowns that should be taking you to another planet. It can throw people off, like this guy.
Welcome to a new and enlightening word of music bliss! The members of TOOL are master musicians. The more you listen the more you’ll understand! I’m subscribing now.😉
The other words are explaining the song because the song is based off of some psychological theories developed by a psychologist named Carl Jung. Just listen. Don't get too wrapped up in lyrics.
I didn't say they weren't important. I was insinuating that they come after music and melody in terms of importance. For instance, if it was the same melody, but different lyrics, the mood and feel of the song would be the same. Sure, the "idea" of the song is cool, but for me, the feeling of the song is much more important.
I would suggest "Schism" by tool for something that would be a good way to transition to the art since your experience is so limited. I really appreciate the openness and technicality of your observance. its some deep shit that will get better with context. thanks brother. Daniel from missouri.
What's great about stretching out and listening to stuff outside our comfort zone is we get a better understanding of the music we are already comfortable with. I'm on the opposite journey--I am rock and metal mainly, and only in recent years have I been listening to rap. The first time I heard Danny Brown my mind exploded--he hits me in the same place that Tool does. It has to do with the rawness of his lyrics, and his ability to pair them with a sound and vocal performance that elevates his meaning. Tool also talks about some ugly things in a very real way, and has an instinct for how to pair tough subjects with music and performance that elevates the meaning. Stretching out made me listen to both artists on a deeper level to compare and contrast. So, kudos to you for expanding your horizons.
Tool is crazy good. Masters of their craft. I'm not the biggest fan of all progressive metal but these guys are insane when it comes to music composition. From St. Louis. Appreciate your reactions here. Don't listen to the haters. Do what you do.
Great reaction man. This is an excellent intro song to Tool. So happy you gave it a few more listens. Their music is very unique, nice to get lost in. Can't wait to see you react to the their songs!
This is old now by today's standards, and we are two different people with two different likes and backgrounds but man I relate to you soo much. I am a Tool Fan which is what led me to this video. But your analysis and comments, I feel you will get it if you listen again without the distraction of doing a reaction video. However, I LOVE how open-minded you are and receptive to things you might not understand. You sir, deserve much more popularity for your rational. Good Luck, sir!
Thanks for reacting to the one and only Tool. I feel you cause I have fairly severe attention deficit issues and the variety of things going on in their songs actually make it much easier for me to enjoy.
Thank you for that! Tool is some deep shit so they try to explain the lyrics along the way in this video. I can see how it would be distracting the first time though. They have many more songs to check out down the road. I'm loving the journey, man. Keep it up.
"What the fuck is going on?" - No worries. This is a common reaction to a first listen of Tool. Also, those aren't extra lyrics. It's just brain candy. This is my first vid of yours. I dig it. I love all these channels where people are reaching out to connect with different cultures through music. I really believe music is the shit that's gonna pull us all together someday. New sub!!! :)
Dude your evolution n growth just in that video was invigorating......thank you Tool....more Tool reactions pls...gotta spread the word.... maybe Jambi...their best ever maybe?......
Luc Sabatier, I saw them in Baton Rouge, La. in 2002. Meshuggah opened for them so it was super awesome! I'm not a bro.....I'm a metalhead female. lol Guess I'm gonna have to change my profile pic on here because everyone calls me dude, bro, etc. Haha! :-)
Bruh Tool is on another level. The music itself is dope af and the lyrics are on some meta shit too. Trying to absorb all that on the first listen is impossible but, you did a good job regardless. I'd take the first listen to feel the music, then go back and check out the lyrics... maybe future, longer, Tool reactions... ? Spiral out brotha
Vicarious by Tool, or "the pot". Both great Tool songs and the lyrics are a lot easier to relate to with a "first listen". Edmonton Alberta here...subbed and enjoying watching your journey!
Tool is an amazing band they are a progressive Rock band meaning they start off slow and kick your ass in the end, listen to more Tool and you will go on a rock journey like no other, I suggest THE GRUDGE next
This is one of Tool's most amazing songs, and really sums up the entire theme of Aenima. This song is about growing, changing, and moving towards the next level of human evolution and conciousness. It's deeply rooted in Jungian theory. Basically, it's believed that there are three levels of human evolution and each has it's form of conciousness. There's the 1st level with 44 chromosones. These are primitve people's like the aboriginies in Australia who do not percieve anything outside of themselves. They only see one large conciousness with no distinguishment between organisms. Then there's the second level with 46 chromosones. That is us. We are a chaotic disharmonic conciousness that is basically used as a stepping stone between the first and third levels. The third level is 48 chromosones. (Or 46 & 2, with 2 being the sex chromosones x & y). This is the higher level of conciousness. Our destination. But this is where the Jungian theory comes in. It is believed that you can not reach this third level of evolution without first delving into yourself and basically cleansing your conciousness for the next jump. That's where the Shadow comes in. The shadow is basically everything about that is unseen that you are uncomfortable with or hate. This is also known as the Anima (hence the name of the CD). The last part of the song sums all of this up... "See my shadow changing, Stretching up and over me Soften this old armor Hoping I can clear the way By stepping through my shadow, Coming out the other side Step into the shadow Forty six and two are just ahead of me"
You should see Aaron OKeefes students covering this, Tools song Sober, and Iron Maidens song Longest Day. Tool writes music that is complex, insanely deep in what it is referencing, and sometimes subtle to a fault.
Ali tomineek- Yikes.. Young guy who does producing, editing, and raps.. he's impressive.. Metal- Slipknot-Duality.. The White Buffalo At: Guitar Center "The Whistler" for a haunting country sound.. Eyedea - Even Shadows Have Shadows has a hip hop feel Except for Duality, the other suggestions are odd balls, but musicianship and entertainment value is a + n my book.. Lets Go!💪🏻
When fans have made a lyric video, many of them add content to help you understand the song. It's strictly for your convenience, because meaning in some of Tool's songs can be dense (see Schism, Parabol/Parabola, Lateralus) and sometimes they can be pretty straightforward (see Hooker With A Penis, Prison Sex, Hush). Not only is there meaning in Tool's music, a lot of times there's layers of meaning (Stinkfist, Sober, AEnima, The Patient), so don't get frustrated; that's why the music kicks your ass and keeps it interested.
I've been waiting for you to react to Tool. Tool is one of those bands that some of their songs you'll like right away and others you'll have to go back and listen 2 or 3 times like a movie to understand. someone else suggested to to a Tool Tuesday I think that's a great idea. Do more Tool songs Schism, The Pot or the Grudge all great songs.
Tool is AMAZING! This song has some very deep messages and the band is sending messages to awaken your spiritual side. That was most of the stuff in the beginning before the began singing. 46 & 2 is not just a rhythm (the rhythm you hear in the background), but a mathematical equation. I'm no math guy, but it shows these guys are very deep in their craft.. A higher conciseness. If you are diging this, you need to check out Tool / Ænima
TOOL!! This video made me find you're channel, best band of all time. I havnt looked through all your videos yet, but I will. That being said, if you havnt done it yet I suggest Lateralus by tool. There is a video on UA-cam called "Fibonacci in lateralus" and it explains all the genius that went into that song
The shadow is a term in Jungian psychology referring to the repressed parts of ourselves. When saying he is clearing the way by stepping through his shadow it's examine all the parts of himself he doesn't want to acknowledge.
Great job bro and thanks for doing this... Check out lateralus or vicarious if you want more complex and evolving rhythm, and the pot or the grudge if u want somethinga bit easier for non tool fans to check them out without getting scared away. But if you do more tool, you will have ALOT more views as there are MILLIONS of die hard tool fans. Good job bro
I love deep meaning song that make you go, oh shit! "Spiral Architect" by Black Sabbath is one of those songs. I've never really listened to Tool but OMG, they are deep. Some people here are suggesting Tool Tuesday, I second that recommendation. I would like to listen to more Tool with you! Peace!
You are so freaking funny! You are just misunderstood I think.. kinda like you misunderstood this video at first...I think some people in comments misunderstand you. Lol. You totally had a break through! It was very awesome to watch you get there. Glad you have kept going.. your persistence is paying off. This music is great for A.D.D., Anxiety, Dyslexia. Take it from one who knows personally. And stop saying you are an idiot. GREAT WORK MY FRIEND! 👊🍻✌🏼💓🎶🎸🥁
Lot of metal heads from Denmark and Norway, Sweden.....Dethklok - Awaken (MustaKrakish). There was a cartoon about them. Also, since you're a Marvel fan there's a video called Batmetal you might like (DC actually, but....nevermind) West Branch, Michigan...btw.....last little bit of snow just melted today.
The purple message is the interpretations of the song. Its speaks about the human psyche. Some Tools songs can really take you to a very dark place. I also hear someones alarm going off in the background. Yes, music can take our soul, our unconscious into an unknown dimension. Lucifer was one of God's favorite angels. Apparently super talented and very good with music. He descended because of his pride. Well, God kicked him out of his kingdom and set him free in this world because he wanted to be a ruler too. We're all being contested.
Tool's awesome. This song is the perfect introduction for someone not familiar with them. Lesser known stuff you could check out sometime: The Devil And The Almighty Blues - These Are Old Hands Red Fang - Hank Is Dead Uncle Acid And The Deadbeats - I'll Cut You Down Weedeater - Jason... The Dragon Mantar - Astral Kannibal
Tool (especially Maynard) are the absolute most scientific and thought-provoking musicians ever. They deal with the stuff “normal/average people” don’t consider in their daily lives; but should. Most musicians -not saying they’re bad- throw shit at the wall and see if it sticks. While Maynard pieces together higher-learning, self-aware, deeper level masterpieces. The lyrics have real lessons, the musical composition is scientific, the videos are euphoric yet disturbing and riddled with clues. Maynard is the Da Vinci of music while others are messing with coloring books...
My Daughter actually covered this song a couple of years ago when she was in high school. if your bored its on my page in my videos, she sings rock jazz and pop.
It also happens to be to part in the Old Testament 46:2 where the Arch Angels explain the earth and life on it will be forever changing. "As it crumbles into the sea, I will remake it new"
I've watched a few reactions to this song. I think they all need to listen twice. First read all the information and study the lyrics and meaning. Really thought provoking. Second....shut off all the lyrics and listen to how musically talented this group is. Hard to do both at the same time,if it's your first time hearing their music, and really appreciate the complexity of it.
As a general rule the best way to listen to Tool is in the dark with your eyes closed. Let them take you wherever. Also, Tool's music is bass guitar driven in most cases hence why it feels so groovy. If you like them, check out A Perfect Circle; same singer but different members but Maynard's lyrics are still crazy good. Musically they're like Tool lite.
There is a two person band you should listen to called Black Pistol Fire. They did a private concert at a radio station in Austin Texas that blew me away.
Some suggestions i think you should check out, its pretty hardcore, but I think it sums up a variety of heavy/core/trash metal Trivium - In waves Gojira - Stranded Fit for an autopsy - Black Mammoth Kvelertak - Kvelertak keep it up :)
Rap Rat Trapped A little history....the guitarist for Rage Against the Machine (Tom Morello) and the guitarist for Tool (Adam Jones) grew up together in Illinois. They both moved to Los Angeles for different reasons. When Tom was in LA, he met Maynard James Keenan and thought about asking him to be the lead singer for RATM, but Maynard and Adam formed Tool. Maynard had a guest singing part on RATM’s first album for the song Know Your Enemy. Both bands have completely different styles, but were and are 2 of the best bands to come out of the early 90’s.
More TOOL, yo!!! I’m about to hit this subscribe right now though... I’m about to suggest something that will thoroughly confuse you and and sub that isn’t in the know. The Dillinger Escape Plan - When Good Dogs Do Bad Things! Ain’t nobody else reacting to that shit. They might be too scared, but I heard you at the end there, fuck that shit I’m gonna bring variety. Here you go, my dude. You got yourself a new subscriber from Los Angeles.
Mike from Sandy Cross GA. I love what you’re doing on your channel. Very honest and open-minded reactions to music you’re obviously not familiar/comfortable with. You’ve inspired me to do the same. I’m not photogenic or articulate therefore I won’t be starting a UA-cam channel of my own. That being said, I am unfamiliar with rap/hip-hop, please reply with suggestions for me to listen to. I refuse to remain ignorant, any suggestions would be appreciated. That is, if you have time. If not, I understand. Really great stuff, I look forward to upcoming content!
Michael Buzard start with the foundation of hiphop go back to the 70s watch the movies or documentaries “style wars and wild style” hope you really take a chance and be open minded 😃 peace ✌️
Homie I love how you said it took you to another dimension. That's what Tool does. They are fucking amazing to say the least. You should check out Jambi. It will give you chills and blow your fucking mind. Even the biggest Tool hater on the planet would have nothing bad to say about it.
If anyone reads this I listen a few more times and this song is dope AF!! Thanks
Rap Rat Trapped bro, youll love lateralus or schism by tool then
Rap Rat Trapped bro you just need to go on a tool marathon. They are very unique and interesting. Try checking out some live performances too, Maynard (their vocalist) is a madman
Nick Allison drummer is also a madman, etc. ;)
Tool pushes the boundaries of how different a band can sound with only slight tweaks to each instruments' sound, but topic, length, volume/dynamics, tempo, time signatures take this limited palate, and use the extreme talent of each player to make the variations seem infinite.
basseon The Hendrix original and nearly every cover is worth of a listen. Sign of a great song.
“I feel like I was being transported”...yea, Tool does that
If tool sounds like something you can listen too, sober, stikfist, prison sex and eulogy are the best songs that I've heard from them.
The best video to have picked!!! It explains the meaning behind the lyrics. Most of Tool’s lyrics have hidden and intellectual meanings. My favorite band!
Indeed, you're right...
Eh.. it distracts from the music and doesn’t let you interpret it for yourself first. I think this video is for someone who’s already heard the song and been into tool for a while. Man thanks you for reacting to tool. One of the greatest metal band. Stay positive bruh , cheers from malaysia.

it's not pure jung. it's based on the writings of drunvalo melchizedek, who used a lot of jungs theories.
if only it stuck to only jung, I feel like it went a bit too far
oh, did i forget to mention? drunvalo is a nut.
Yesss. My favorite Tool songs lyric-wise are Lateralus, Lost Keys/Rosetta Stoned, The Grudge, and Stinkfist. Have an awesome week my man
I would suggest "Schism" by tool for something that would be a good way to transition to the art since your experience is so limited. I really appreciate the openness and technicality of your observance. its some deep shit that will get better with context. thanks brother. Daniel from missouri.

Really digging the reactions. Tool is one of my all-time favorite bands and I've never clicked faster.
"There's math, there's lessons..." Welcome to Tool!
Tool is crazy good. Masters of their craft. I'm not the biggest fan of all progressive metal but these guys are insane when it comes to music composition.
From St. Louis. Appreciate your reactions here. Don't listen to the haters. Do what you do.
Man this was a tall order for you to take my man. Tool is some heady, cerebral shit. For someone just getting into metal, Props for tackling tool.
Great reaction man. This is an excellent intro song to Tool. So happy you gave it a few more listens. Their music is very unique, nice to get lost in. Can't wait to see you react to the their songs!
Another GREAT pick! Tool ❤️ Schism, Ticks and Leeches, both great
You’re watching a video with explanatory interjections. Notice the different font colors.
Welcome to the world of Tool. That have both amazing musicianship and lyricism.
I totally love this! You get it. Tool has a lot of layers, but I believe -like with all good music- if you feel it, you get it.
Tool has always been very unique.
This song is dope AF.
Thanks for reacting to the one and only Tool.
I feel you cause I have fairly severe attention deficit issues and the variety of things going on in their songs actually make it much easier for me to enjoy.
Ryan Garcia thanks I’m not crazy then. Peace ✌️
Look up sober by tool live. It’s like there most popular song, but the one where the singer is in this wierd pink thing is a really good performance
New sub!!! :)
😃 thanks for the sub hope you stick around peace ✌️
Dude your evolution n growth just in that video was invigorating......thank you Tool....more Tool reactions pls...gotta spread the word.... maybe Jambi...their best ever maybe?......

My sir you are a poet...truer words have not been spoken...
? Spiral out brotha
so much fun watching some one start their tool journey
U wanna go on a journey? LISTEN to TOOL's Rosetta Stoned ✌️
Vicarious by Tool, or "the pot". Both great Tool songs and the lyrics are a lot easier to relate to with a "first listen".
Edmonton Alberta here...subbed and enjoying watching your journey!
The words that aren't being sung are explaining what the song is about! Tool is Deep!!!!
Tool consists of four genius musicians that come together to create some of the best music on earth. Listen and you will agree.
Tool is an amazing band they are a progressive Rock band meaning they start off slow and kick your ass in the end, listen to more Tool and you will go on a rock journey like no other, I suggest THE GRUDGE next
Great song , awesome vids keep em coming!
"See my shadow changing,
Stretching up and over me
Soften this old armor
Hoping I can clear the way
By stepping through my shadow,
Coming out the other side
Step into the shadow
Forty six and two are just ahead of me"
This is the best video for this song. It’s just an explanation of what he’s talking about. I had to watch it a few times too.
You should see Aaron OKeefes students covering this, Tools song Sober, and Iron Maidens song Longest Day.
Tool writes music that is complex, insanely deep in what it is referencing, and sometimes subtle to a fault.

Tools drummer puts on a clinic every song. That man is a beast.
Yes sir, more tool for you!
Tool is a whole experience of itself .. welcome to a whole new level that takes multiple listens to catching all
Tool is AMAZING! This song has some very deep messages and the band is sending messages to awaken your spiritual side. The shadow is a term in Jungian psychology referring to the repressed parts of ourselves. When saying he is clearing the way by stepping through his shadow it's examine all the parts of himself he doesn't want to acknowledge.
Your getting it. Just don't over think it. Their giving facts to support abstract lyrics.
Peace!

That's your best reaction so far. Do some more Tool, you won't be disappointed ! Lateralus for some more deep meanings.

Uncle Acid And The Deadbeats - I'll Cut You Down

Mantar - Astral Kannibal
Tool (especially Maynard) are the absolute most scientific and thought-provoking musicians ever. They deal with the stuff “normal/average people” don’t consider in their daily lives; but should.
Most musicians -not saying they’re bad- throw shit at the wall and see if it sticks. While Maynard pieces together higher-learning, self-aware, deeper level masterpieces. The lyrics have real lessons, the musical composition is scientific, the videos are euphoric yet disturbing and riddled with clues. Maynard is the Da Vinci of music while others are messing with coloring books...
I hope you will react to *Devin Townsend - Kingdom (live at EMGtv)* THIS could be your best reaction to a song to date if you give that one a try!
46 chromosomes in your DNA add 2, about evolving into the next higher being
Richard Purcell probably the best part about doing these videos is people giving me info thanks. I appreciate the feedback peace ✌️
My Daughter actually covered this song a couple of years ago when she was in high school. if your bored its on my page in my videos, she sings rock jazz and pop.
It also happens to be to part in the Old Testament 46:2 where the Arch Angels explain the earth and life on it will be forever changing. "As it crumbles into the sea, I will remake it new"
You know rite on
Yes,yes,yes,
I've watched a few reactions to this song. I think they all need to listen twice. First read all the information and study the lyrics and meaning. Really thought provoking. Second....shut off all the lyrics and listen to how musically talented this group is. Hard to do both at the same time,if it's your first time hearing their music, and really appreciate the complexity of it.
I think attention is like patience--you pick up on pieces, and then you slowly put it together. The tortoise beats the hare.
You're a good man!
Tool is one of my favorites. Try Sober or Right in Two.
Tool is goat man
As a general rule the best way to listen to Tool is in the dark with your eyes closed. Let them take you wherever.
Also, Tool's music is bass guitar driven in most cases hence why it feels so groovy.
If you like them, check out A Perfect Circle; same singer but different members but Maynard's lyrics are still crazy good. Musically they're like Tool lite.
You heard it perfectly.
There is a two person band you should listen to called Black Pistol Fire. They did a private concert at a radio station in Austin Texas that blew me away.
Tools always deep the song is about changing into something else the 46and 2 talking your DNA changing your evolution
Some suggestions i think you should check out, its pretty hardcore, but I think it sums up a variety of heavy/core/trash metal
Trivium - In waves
Gojira - Stranded
Fit for an autopsy - Black Mammoth
Kvelertak - Kvelertak
keep it up :)
It wouldn’t hurt my feelings if you did a Tool Tuesday’s like other reaction channels. Lol. ✌️
TheZinnmaster lol that’s funny made me smile 😊
Rap Rat Trapped a few more Tool tracks and it might happen by accident, these dudes are next level
Both bands have completely different styles, but were and are 2 of the best bands to come out of the early 90’s.
lol honestly. Wouldnt be a bad thing of everyone just started listening to Tool regularly :P
Yeah, subscribed. Good stuff.
Yes keep the variety.
When it comes to most rock music, it's more about the music then the lyrics.
Everyone is lost at first, but after that, after you get/understand the concept of Tool, then your done with other music.
Keep going with Tool, so much to delve into. My personal fav is Pushit, but whatever, it’s all great from Tool.
Homie I love how you said it took you to another dimension. That's what Tool does. They are fucking amazing to say the least. You should check out Jambi. It will give you chills and blow your fucking mind. Even the biggest Tool hater on the planet would have nothing bad to say about it.
