- Tool - Forty Six & 2 - FIRST TIME REACTION
Wow, wow, wow. What is there to say about this song, other than give it endless plaudits. Pure, raw energy with a guitar hook that I could listen to endlessly for days. I can see why this band pulls in such a huge following! Keep the bangers coming Tool.
I do not own the rights to the music or video
Original video/content link: • Tool Forty Six and Two...
Watch the drumcam vid of Danny performing Pneuma. It‘s mesmerizing
Listen/hear the song first ❤
Yes please
They’re in their damn 60’s and still kicking ass.
You are having Toolgasms my friend. Welcome to the Army brother
Hahaha Toolgasms, love it!!!
Danny carey (drummer) is legit regarded as one of the greatest to ever do it. I'd personally put him #1.
I cam see why, that guys hands are uncontrollable!
It has to be either Danny or Neil Peart
🐙🔥🐙🔥🐙
Put Pneuma (live drum cam) on your wishlist. 😅
You won’t regret it.
Danny and Bill Ward of Black Sabbath are my top two.
Keep this up and you will soon realize not many if any compares to Tool enjoy the ride
I'm starting to see that, and I'm only 2 songs in!!
Tool army reporting for duty. Spiral out.
I definitely need to find out about this spiral out business!
Then Tool’s song Lateralus is what you should listen to next to understand what spiral out means 🤘🏻🌀
Reporting
It specifically has to do with the song lateralus. But we as tool fans use it as a description for the tool Journey in general. Spiral out on the sounds, the lyrics, the journey to discover yourself. That is why lyrics are so important.
Tool is the best band ever. Not kidding their whole catalogue is 🔥🔥🔥❤❤ I'm 61 they've been my band going on 32 yrs, they're the best I've seen live too well worth it love LOVE Tool
Can't wait to experience more of their amazing work!
@MusicForTheSoulReactions if you have a list, or not lol, please add Parabol/Parabola and NO pause between they go seemlessly together😊
Everyone should go see Tool live at least once. That was the only thing on my bucket list, and I went about a year ago, and it was absolutely magical.
🌀🌀🌀 Spiral out!
Finally saw them in February. Will never not see them when they come close again.
Two suggestions. The drum cam of Pneuma video for nuclear head explosion or lateralus the song to understand the spiral out mentions and normal head explosion.
Gotcha. Definitely need to figure out this spiral out stuff!!
I don’t think you’re ready for Lateralus yet. The Grudge and Aenima should be next
@@ericshaeffer9912 Agree - Tool can get pretty esoteric
Genuinely made me smile to hear someone use the word 'twatted' in the right way. Also - great reaction!
🤣, I don't even know where that came from, I've not used that word in years 🤦♂️. Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks for watching
Maynard Monday, Tool Tuesday just saying Maynard has 3 bands. Everything he touches is gold. I subscribed so do let me down lol😅
🤣🤣 so no pressure!!
So many great songs!
Jambi
Aenema
Parabol & Parabola (the songs go together).
Or check out Maynard's side projects like:
Puscifer "Potions"
Or A Perfect Circle with "Judith" (part of three songs that go together w/Tool's "Wings for Marie" and "10,000 Days". Songs about his mom crippled and confined to a wheelchair for that amount of days).
Yes! More tool!
If rush, and Metallica had a baby, it would be tool
Haha great analogy!
For me, if Led Zeppelin and King Crimson had a baby, which exceled his parents.
They are amazing and perfect in concert and they are 60+ years old and still rip live
46&2
Carl Jung- analytical psychology.
Concepts/theory of evolution
So crazy to wrote music about such topics, reminds me a lot of Genesis for the random song content!
@@MusicForTheSoulReactionswait till you get to lateralus..a whole song written around the Fibonacci theory.
The lyrics, Iambic pentameter are 1 1 2 3 5 8 13 then swing on the spiral back and forth on that.
Jeff is Danny. Danny is Jeff. Exactly the way you described him. Perfection!
🤣, damn Jeff has got some crazy drum skills, even if he dances to his own beat most of the time!!
@@MusicForTheSoulReactions The crazy thing is, all 4 of them play to their own beat at the same time. Slight variations in each of the instruments time signatures causes them to realign periodically. This 4D beat is what draws us in and produces the overwhelming energy. Kind of like a sonic boom! Genius
@@MusicForTheSoulReactions Jeff has a video of just him, live playing pnuema, you may want to preview that next
Ok, now that you've heard this, please go check out the O'keefe Music Foundation cover done by all kids under 16. Friggen mind blowing.
With that said, welcome to Tool! You're going to be blown away!
Great choice great reaction , years ago Tool reawaken my interest in new stuff v commuted fan
Tool “ this v dark” may be the most understated quote ever
I'm starting to catch on with that!
Welcome to the Army.
Love it
TOOL isn’t a band. TOOL IS AN EXPERIENCE !!!
Love your reaction!! Give Vicarious a listen.
I 1000% understand your Tool addiction. 😆
You've got a lot of amazing music in store from them. Please don't miss the drum cam of Pneuma. Danny Carey ("Jeff") is awesome.
Also the Grudge, Right in Two, Jambi and Eulogy. Plus many others lol.
🌀
Definitely want to see Jeff cam, I can only imagine how crazy that would be! Appreciate the comment
We are just scratching the surface of your Tool Journey 😎👽🔥🫀🥁🐙
Tool's first 4 albums weren't released with lyrics. Back then there wasn't internet like now, so you couldn't look them up. I feel that's the best way to take it in for the first time. Reading lyrics distracts from the initial experience.
I seem to get mixed advice on this point! Perhaps I'll do a bit of both 🤷🏻
@@MusicForTheSoulReactions
I think a nice compromise would be reading the lyrics first on their own to get an idea what the song will be about. But then put the words down and just listen to the song as a whole. The vocals in Tool are meant to be a part of the song and not the focal point. But it’s good to go back to the lyrics and think about their meaning after you’ve heard them integrated in the song.
Honestly, I would just pass on reading the lyrics at all. Part of the experience is interpreting them for yourself.
@@shangobango77 agreed. After listening for years, and then finding out the actual words, turns out I was right all along. And as I grew, the meaning changed as well.
Hey, You are on good form, Tonight, Steve.
Love The Patter.
Been hearing a lot about Tool.
Need to investigate 🔎
Greetings from Snowy SCOTLAND.
Roadie Ronnie 🎸 🎸 🎸
Thanks for taking some of the snow from us down here in Manchester! Glad you're here checking out Tool too Ronnie, definitely a band worth exploring! Take care up there in Scotland
Tool army reporting. Just subbed
Welcome, it seems the army is amassing on the channel. I'm humbled
4.2k views in 4 days and Tool the pot is on pace to be your most view video. Keep doing Tool and you subs will go up as well as views.
Seems to be an amazing and passionate Tool fanbase (army) out there! Impressive stuff
@@MusicForTheSoulReactions Steve have you heard "Beastie Boys"? Completely different (OG Hip Hop) from Tool obviously but another big ARMY fanbase. If you haven't - you owe it to yourself to get some enlightening. They different #Gratitude #WhatchaWant #Sabatoge #3MC's1DJ
Since you like the Maynard (TooL Lead Singer) screams try these: The Grudge (#1), Eulogy, Jerk Off, Ticks & Leeches, Rosetta Stoned.
They sound exactly the same live. Call the drummer oh Danny boy.
Watching a new Tool fan experience them for the first time is truly great! You become an addict
Thank you for watching
Great video of kids covering this song. O’Keef music foundation. They do an awesome job
Slip it in. Everyone loves watching those kids play.
I feel a tool not knowing much about this band ! Great stuff Steve lol
Glad to have you figuring this band out along with me!
@ yes mate enjoying cheers
Super once again Steve.. a great journey ahead.. We Have a Tool Army in Ireland too...
Irish Roadie Colm! 🤘😎🤘
It seems Tool are like the Romans, they've invaded everywhere 🤣. Thanks for watching Irish Roadie
That was great mate.....your gonna love tool.... later dude
Cheers fella. I'm sure I am.
Welcome.......it only gets better...Spiral out!
Love the idea of that!!
Total toolgasm!, spiral out!!
Love it! Think I'll steal that description 😉
More tool, your in for a ride enjoy
Love your reactions! I’m here for this journey! 🔥🔥
Thank you for the kind words. Love having you along for the ride
Lmfao, tickling the balls had me…😂😂😂😂😂😂
🤣 Yeah I don't half say some random stuff 🤦♂️
Lol, you're gonna LOVE the Pneuma drum cam. Can't wait to see you watch that 😂
Is that where Jeff just batters me left and right continuously 🤣
@@MusicForTheSoulReactions Well he gives you a few moments to catch your breath before knocking the wind out of you completely! BTW there is another fun watch (after Pneuma drum cam) when Mike Portnoy tries to figure out the time signatures for this song. It's a fun ride! The other is watching "Metal drummer hears Led Zeppelin for first time" (and tries to play it)
46 and 2 is a very clever reference to evolution and genetics and gender
Oh wow, so super deep content for lyrics, love it!
@@MusicForTheSoulReactions humans have 46 chromosomes the last two are gender related , so 46 &2 refers to this
The & is v subtle as opposed to +
@@MusicForTheSoulReactionsalso, the shadow is in reference to the teachings of Carl Jung. The song is essentially about exploring your own subconscious, and confronting the negative parts of your personality in order to grow and evolve
I can’t wait for you to do “Right In Two”. One of my
Favorites from them. I WILL subscribe to your channel. Very fun watching you and seeing your energy Tool brings out of you.
Seems there's so many songs for me to check out of Tool. Amazing stuff! Glad you enjoy watching me get thrashed about by them 🤣
@@MusicForTheSoulReactions tool has songs that are angry, theatrical, fun, sad or emotional and other ways to evoke emotions. If you stay with them and get past the energetic ones then youll need to lower your energy level and listen to their emotional song “wings for Marie/ 10,000 days. That’s on the opposite side of the spectrum, but man o man will you go on a ride. Tool has a few songs that will be in tandem so pay attention to that as well. Spiral out bro. Welcome to the Tool Army.
Thats the way it happens…can’t stop -won’t stop!
Ya oughta keep the number vibe with Chicago- 25 or 6 to 4, (live @ Tanglewood)
Concerts are loud and intense and run about 2:10 or so.
🤯🤯🤯
They don’t deviate from the studio versions in concert except for Stinkfist, which they extend the guitar solo. They are phenomenal.
'Stinkfist' would be a good next stop for you!
What a title for a song!
Am so here for this journey 😊
Happy having you along 🙂
They manage to sound even better live for the whole time. HOWEVER, keep listening to their studio tracks because there are very few worthy live videos. The Danny Carey drum cam video and the Sober live are the only two I'd recommend at this point. You have endless studio tracks to explore. Cheers.
Glad I have lots of bangers to explore, love a band that won't let me down as I go!
This my first time hearing this. But this is perfect. So far the best I heard by Tool. It reminds me of Hysteria by Muse, Steve, you have to do that one, the bass is amazing, as it is here. I loved that. Thanks again.
Hey Rowan. Glad you enjoyed it like I did! I've been putting off replying to this as I was trying to keep your Muse request where I could see it as want to check that base out ASAP. I've made a note tho now so all good 🙂. Appreciate the recommendation!
There's no turning back or un-hearing what you've heard. Get it. #TOOL
Good for you my guy! TOOL is an experience. And I can see u enjoyed it😊 jeez what a band!!
I saw them Live at Tons of Rock in Oslo last summer for the first time, and I was hooked🤘 they started the show with “Stinkfist” I challenge you😁
Haha when someone says, I challenge you to listen to a song, you know it packs a punch 🤣. Glad you got to see them love!
Welcome to the Tool army, my friend. I am so glad that I discovered you tonight reacting to one of my all-time favorite songs. Being a musician myself who is also extremely nerdy I have a lot of favorite songs, but that one’s up there for sure.. and just for future reference the guy’s name in the band who plays drums. His name is Danny Karrie, and I am a drummer myself and I use the same kind of sticks he uses.. because they’re his signature sticks and that man is known as the human octopus because he can literally do things simultaneously that sound humanly impossible. he is definitely in my top three favorite drummers of all time.! But I’m glad we get to experience this journey with you welcome.
Jeff...now formally known as Danny 🤣. What skills this guy has! I was blown away, can't wait to hear and see more! Cool that you play the drums too!
Master class reaction. Loved it.
Appreciate the kind feedback. Take care
Did I miss a new recruit being christened? Congrats my dude! Welcome!
Love your accent! ❤❤❤
Haha never heard a compliment on my accent before! And yes, consider me newly inducted into the Tool army!
Officially the funniest reaction ive ever seen... To a TOOL song no less..BTW Jeff can probably tap u on the head w a drumstick from anywhere on Earth and hes 62
Happy to hear you enjoyed the reaction! Jeff has some killer skills with the drumsticks!
@@MusicForTheSoulReactions he had a TV show back in the day too. The Danny Carey Show.. those guys Oswald and Lewis were so funny.But...oooh that Mimi would get me so riled up
🌀🌀🌀✊✊✊ woo-hoo!
Danny Carey is arguably the best living drummer. His nickname is the Octopus 🐙. Check out Pneuma 🔥 the live drum cam and then the actual studio version as well. Pneuma is a masterpiece
Will definitely look to watch him do his magic on a live cam!!
Welcome to the TOOL Army! Spiral out! I would recommend: Lateralus, Pnuma, and the live Pneuma Drum Cam, and Descending…in that order. Enjoy you journey!
Cool, thanks for the list!
Once a week? Here for it!
It's certainly my goal!!!
Subbed for more Tool please
I am 100% stealing to term "Bass-porn". The song is about evolution. Humans have 44 autosomes and 2 sex chromosomes, and do we have the ability to evolve beyond what 44 and 2 gives us, to 46 and 2.
Wow, such deep topics, there's definitely a prog element to these guys choosing topics like that! Hahaha bass porn is catching on is it 🤣
@@MusicForTheSoulReactions Tool doesn't shy away from sometimes really tough topics. "Prison Sex" deals with cycles of abuse within religious organizations, and is a song that the band has retired.
To understand this song, read up a little on the work of Carl Jung and Drunvalo Melchizadek
@@MusicForTheSoulReactionsall other animals have 48 chromosomes where we only have 46????? Go figure…
You are refreshing. Great vibe!
Appreciate that, thank you
Your next fix needs to be lateralus the song
Is this the Spiral out one?
Tool, the band that makes you show your "holy shit" face
🤣, amongst many others!
Mate as a pommy your a funny bastard…. Love ya…
🤣🤣 not sure what a pommy is, but I'll take the compliment nevertheless 😉
Welcome to the army.
The Grudge next! But every song from them is a banger
You’re going to bust when Justin starts the intro to schism.
Oh wow, sounds like I gotta check that one out then, and I'll bring some fresh pants to get changed in to!
Love how you said it keeps evolving. Google 46 and 2 theory. A very interesting read. Will continue to blow your mind and when you go back and listen to the lyrics and song overall, you'll have a whole new appreciation for it! Anyways cary on and strap in for one wild ride! Spiral out. Check out Lateralus next and check it out after your first listen as well with google to give you an idea of the song structure and everything!
Now that you're hooked, you should go back to the beginning and follow their growth from the 90s to current. It's quite amazing. Only 5 albums and a few inserted videos the Army will lead you to.
I appreciate all the help and guidance I can get! Thanks
The Grudge will melt your face!46&2 think chromosomes and evolution and adding 2 more chromosomes to go to our next level
Hahaha face melting music sounds intriguing 🤣
Tool- Parabol & Parabola . Both songs need to be played together …you’re welcome😎
All 8 of Danny’s (Jeff’s) limbs, play individual time signatures.
Haha this guy is a magical being I'm convinced of it!
see you next week they are better live!!!
I can only imagine the atmosphere live!
That is one of the best first experiences of 46 and 2. Lol
🤣. Glad you enjoyed it. What a banger that was!
@@MusicForTheSoulReactions the went from tickling your sack to swinging you around by it. lol
Next: Lateralus, IF your brain can handle it.
The lyrics only goes deeper, deeper, deeper
Yes still touring and in their 60s now if you watch Danny Carey’s drum cam of the song Pneuma realize that effort is just for one song and he still has 2 hours of playing to go!
Definitely will be watching that at some point! I'll bring the popcorn!!
Tool tangent request,
Bear with me a second-
Drummer, Danny Carey is currently touring with Steve Vai, and 2 members of (one of the cool versions of) King Crimson, Adrian Belew, and Tony Levin -(if you like bass, wait til you get a load of the Chapman Stick).
King Crimson is one of the 1st 'Prog' bands.
Anyhoo, listen to 'Elephant Talk' then, after that, i double dog dare you to check out 'Indiscipline '
Go Jeff!
Jeff is relentless!
Sober live from the Reading Festival. I think you are ready.
Will I ever be ready, I feel like each Tool song takes me back to the beginning each time they are so unique and cool!
Right In Two
Schism
Vicarious
The Grudge
Parabol/Parabola
Just for starters…😎
Thanks for this 👍
jeff being jeff
🤣
Jeff a.k.a. The Octopus. I know you don't show videos but you should still give us the reaction to you watching the Drumeo version of Pnuema. It really changes the way you hear Danny Carrey play.
I always like to show live videos or official videos etc so for this drum piece I'll definitely stick it on the reaction 🙂
Great reaction, my friend! May I humbly request you to check out the O’Keefe Foundation video where a group of kids cover this tune?!?! I’ll just say that they do it justice. It’s fucking incredible. Cheers!
The idea alone of it sounds incredible!
To understand the meaning of the song, read up on the work of Carl Jung and Drunvalo Melchizadek.
I’m here for Tool! Check out Lateralus next! Spiral Out friend 🌀 🤘
Next stop needs to be to figure out this Spiral business!
@ listen to Lateralus and you’ll know ;)
If you want a slow buildup to a beautiful banging from TOOL might wanna try Fear Innoculum or Eulogy!
I think it's beautiful buildup but underwelming 'banging'. I adore Tool, though.
Too soon!
If you want volume, you’ve gotta get to The Patient !!!
This is from the one Tool album I have, yeah it's a good one. I always felt Tool is the American Porcupine Tree. Hope you go back to the Tree. I'll put "Shallow" up against this song. Also, I just saw Danny Carey (Tools drummer) drumming for Beat, which is half of 80s King Crimson, Stevie Vai and Danny. Both bands owe so much to the "King". If you react to any three of these groups, I'm there...US Roadie 1 signing out...
You've seen so many talented musicians! What a line up that was!
Thet were amazing. But I did see the original 80s line up twice, and they were even more amazing. If you really love base, their song Sleepless really slaps!
👍
👍
Spiral Out my friend 🌀🌀🌀Proud TOOL army cadet showing up to your channel. I’ll be back, especially if you do more
Cheers fella. Will definitely be revisiting Tool in the future! More so to learn about this Spiral out business!!
Forty six and two refers to our 46 chromosomes and the potential growth of adding two more !!!
Such deep meaningful topic, love bands that will go to such efforts to create such thought provoking music!
#TOOLarmy
Considering Tool has been around since 1991, their catalog is fairly sparse with an EP and 5 albums, and a live dvd/album, on the other hand the lead singer Maynard's catalog is quite extensive with albums with Tool as well as his two side projects A Perfect Circle and Pusifer, as well as having featured spots with other artists
suggestion - Tool's Ticks and Leeches
You know, Steve, the fact that you are enjoying this “prog metal” ( that’s what I call it anyway) is GREAT. But my worry is that…..what was super heavy in 1970, is nothing compared to metal, as far as heaviness goes. I almost wish you’d done your Zeppethon before you hit Tool. I love both bands, but I’m afraid Zeppelin will seem very tame after Tool. Zeppelin, Floyd, Tool, Porcupine Tree are the bands I give my greatest respect to. Love dozens, but those guys just all seem on another level.
Ah prog metal is the genre! Got it. I have this wonderful respect and admiration for each one of these bands, in terms lf heaviness, I certainly see Tool as being the heaviest hitter. However, zeppelin comes second to no-one, I find them top tier, musicians and a joy to listen too. The others I always have a deep fascination for the way they make music flow and connect, so there should be no fear on that front. All will be thoroughly enjoyed no matter the order I experience it. Such amazing music out there, can't believe its all escaped me before!
@ thanks for the reassurance. I was going to “officially” let you off your Zep pledge, if I came to that. 😘
Check out Aenima. It's life changing.
Whatcha mean 'Warm me up?' They tickled your 2 veg, didn't they?
🤣👏👏👏
