You totally skipped what to do if the silicone strip doesn't quite fit flush. For those who are wondering, the little pins you snap the pinlock insert onto are offset so you can turn them bringing the pins slightly closer together giving a snug fit for the insert. This is an especially common adjustment for people like me with large heads since the visor has less of a curve on a larger helmet. I only learned how to do this after visiting my Shoei dealer because my insert wasn't working.
Excellent thanks for the great video. Coincidentally I have the same helmet and the instructions and diagrams made it look more complicated than it actually was.
I have a tinted pinlock visor which works great on a bright sunny day, clear or tinted the main point is no more lifting the visor to clear the misting up.
this isnt right! gotta clean your visor first and make sure nothing is stuck on via staitc, otherwise it gets sandwiched and will annoy the hell outta ya! last thng you want is a be starrig at a pube while your riding!!
A lot of Shoei, AGV, Arai, and higher-end Bell and HJC helmets include the pinlock insert in the box. For cheaper helmets, it's nice to offer the consumer the option to forego the insert and save a few dollars, or add the insert if it's worth the extra to them. They were probably quite a bit less common when you composed your comment 8 years ago, though.
i have a shoei 1200 , with pinlock mechanism , but during day i used a chrome visor for the sun and if its not sunny or at night i used the clear one, in this case how am i going to take advantage of the pinlock if its says do not wear it at night only day time, then it says do not wear it with tinted visor?,
Nadia Acosta was thinking the same. I think it's just best to get another helmet one day or just get a cheap pair of sun glasses to carry with you. That's what I do
after getting caught in a storm and drying my helmet out i've noticed I now have what looks like condensation inside, I guess it is a case of take it out, wipe it down and refit?
I find it odd that the peel-off protection is not on the side which fits against the visor surface. You don't want dust, smudges, grease, scratches to be on the (inside-lens-surface) - as once you have installed it, they are sealed-in there !
@2wheelsbetterthan4 He didn't show this because HJC pin locks don't have the adjustment, and don't need it. The cut outs on the pinlock are positioned better so the adjustment cams aren't needed or fitted. But yes you are correct in what you say for the Shoei and Arai helmets. But personally I think the neoprene rubber nose protector insert called the Foggy is much cheaper and much more effective.
I buff on a bit of Mr Sheen (furniture polish) on the outside with a cloth. To make the rain slide off you can put your head near the windscreen lip briefly. Helps stop flies sticking as well.
My Caberg Duke came with one but I didn't bother fitting it as I just open the visor a crack to keep it clear. Since being a blood biker and having to ride all weather opening the visor is not all that comfortable and I decided to look for the pinlock. Eventually found it after 7 or 8 years at the back of a dusty shelf and decided to try it. Wow! Wish I'd done it years ago. Can't see how they cost £30 though!
Helmet visor MUST be clean. These things damage very easily. One thumbnail against it and it's scratched forever. No buffing out, because it's silicone. Does anyone know if these are standard fittings? I need to replace my BMW System 6 one.
t feeney remove the insert and place it in a bin. They are amazing when you come off your bike. Not only do you get hurt when you hit something. You then get this amazing peice of crap moving about the inside of your helmet. What's worse it they stop working after you keep riding in wet weather or they do like you said. They come off when you open your visor. They are good when new. But they become something not worth having. And they also put a weird outline around your Vision which is distracting at night when you get headlight glare.
Why don't they just build the Helmet Properly in the first place . Surely this a Safety feature . Well I guess it's an Excuse to Screw another £30-£40 out of you .
Yes, you can take it off and put it on again. I did it 5 min. ago (bought it today and the shop installed right away, but they did not clean the visor properly before)
It does on mine. There is a huge warp just above eye level on mine. If I hold my head still I am ok but if there is any up and down movement and my vision passes through the warp I get sea sick. I don't see any adjustment either so do they all do this or is it just my helmet? (Aria Signet)
Havent had any warp or twist in my vision with mine over the course of about a year on this helmet so i guess its either the pinlock not fitted correctly, the visor not being clean on the inside or it might be your helmet. Either way, good luck fixing it. Once it works properly you wouldn't want to live without it.
I am using a genuine Arai visor and genuine Arai pinlock insert and I have the warp problem. if I look though only the shield it is perfect, if I only look though the insert (flat) it is perfect. I tried reinstalling it yesterday after looking at this video. I notice the insert does not have a notch to locate the insert. its tapered so as it drops in it gets tighter which is likely causing my problem. I removed it and slid it up a little. It seemed a little better but its still there. I have a new mirrored shield on order and I think I will skip the pinlock insert going forward. ( maybe only use it in foggy conditions because it eliminates fogging 100%.)
@El Salvador I just installed mine. There is no lint/marks, however when I look through it, my vision is definitely not "as clear" as without it. I would say it decreases my visual clarity by about 20%. At least it does not fog up now, though. Seriously, all visors should have this feature "built-in" by now.
I bought also same helmet but green one model is HJC IS 17 inserting pinlock very simple step with this video no need to read instruction ... :) thank you
I don't understand a few things, why don't they put a plastic cover on the side that meets the visor? Also you really need to be careful touching the insert that goes against the visor otherwise you get fingerprints in your vision.
It just ain't that easy! I've done this a hundred times and sometimes it works and others there are gaps in some places (tested with a piece of paper) Why oh why, when the human race has done so many amazing technological things do we have to put up with this crap? I HATE PINLOCK!!! GRRR
Any vlog showing this process that doesn't involve wearing powder free nitrile gloves is 100% wrong ... human skin is full of oils, never touch the pinlock with bare skin ... solvent glass cleaner the inner visor surface first with a new micro-fibre cloth that's been well shook out, or it's a total waste of time.
I’ve done about 6 pinlocks, and because of my crap memory, I come back to this video each time before I do. Thanks, it’s the ultimate, simple how-to.
You totally skipped what to do if the silicone strip doesn't quite fit flush.

Thanks mate, great help! Only thing you should maybe add is the importance of cleaning the internal side on the visor before applying.
Excellent thanks for the great video. Coincidentally I have the same helmet and the instructions and diagrams made it look more complicated than it actually was.
Cheers just bought a HJC CS-15 and this video was a great help for me.
Love that my Shoei Neotec came with one of these. Just had to snap it in place. Totally works, no more defogger or popping open my visor!
🤣🤣
So not right on every level 🤣🤣
It's like smartphones. If you firstly forget to clean the screen, you will see a @#$@# hair on the middle of the screen!
So true😂😂😂😂 I had the same and now i've cleaned everything and ripped it off
Great and thoughtful advice, thanks! I'm just curious (maybe I shouldn't know), why do you have a pube inside your visor?
You made it so easy to follow, thanks.
No nonsense easy explained.
Great video for dummies.👍
Thanks Tony, very helpful 👍
why is the protective covering only on the outside part and not on the silicone area as well.
They should all just come standard like that lol
Smk helmets have it as standard

@@PMitchell106 I have hjc it did not come with inserts in the box.
awesome..you just made me find out where is my pinlock and fit it in..i never tot it would be so easy..^^
Thank you very much!Just got my first pinlock helmet and this helped me a lot!
I knew it the views never disappoint, awesome video 👌
Thank you been trying to find a video to put it on quick and easy. 🤘👏👍
I suggest do it with latex gloves. It's very annoying to leave finger prints in between visor and the pinlock visor.
Rubbish, no mention of adjusting the oval shaped pins, if the insert doesn't sit flush.
Came to this after the instructions made it look like actual rocket science, only for it to take 15 seconds 😅 Thanks
Can you remove and replace without any issues (apart from keeping it spotless)?
Just the vid i was looking for... thank You!!!
Thanks! I thought this sucked because I couldn't see though it properly but then you mentioned you had to remove the green part...
lol!
that film is so well fit i didn't see an edge at first
pinlock is my best investment towards all my motorbike stuff!
7 year old comment. Hows your investment doing, became rich yet?
@@keaponlaffin6737What about you? Any luck with richness?

I'd recommend a pinlock tinted visor full stop :) I have 2 inserts, a tinted one and a clear one depending on the weather.
I find it odd that the peel-off protection is not on the side which fits against the visor surface. You don't want dust, smudges, grease, scratches to be on the (inside-lens-surface) - as once you have installed it, they are sealed-in there !
Got the Arai Tour X4 reactolite insert and it doesn't fit properly causing air bubbles
Thanks, nice and easy
What about the pins themselves as they rotate to. Make a proper fit?
@2wheelsbetterthan4 He didn't show this because HJC pin locks don't have the adjustment, and don't need it. Any tips on dealing with rain on your visor?
Maguair ceramic wax, only a drop is needed, use the rest on your moms car she will bake you cookies guaranteed. 👍

ive got some air under the visor aftet a ride, is it safe take the insert out, clean the inside and refit it?
I got one of these for free with my new HJC Helmet, its awesome!

@smudge1100xx...My HJC R-PHA 10 Ben Spies rep has adjustment cams on its visor....they don't appear to do much though!
Pinlock is awesome! Simple!
I've tried loads of different things but it just doesn't come near.
Would you recommend a pinlock on a tinted visor for the track?
Nice vid. Thank you for the upload.
thanks for the helpful guide
how can i know which pinlock is correct for my visor
Never been very keen on them. Had one on a Shoei and removed it. My latest Arai has one in the box, but I probably won’t fit it.
hi, what does the film that racers remove off the helmet - when it get dirty - called? is it available on road helmets?
Its called tear off
Pratim Roy thanks man.
Great vid, as my new hjc helmet came yesterday
Very useful, thanks
Nice one ☝️ thx 👍
I have an ls2 ff1386. Flip face. The new pin lock constantly catches on the helmet when I try to open the face. Any ideas?

If only I knew about this... For the winter :>
Been struggling to fit it , bending the tip was the solution. So simple and yet could'nt figure it out myself😤
why dont these just come pre-installed? do they wear out?
Thanks for the vid, easy when you how.
Thank You for Video.
Thank you. I did it by myself 💪💪💪
keep up the great work i enjoy watching ur vids in my basement hope i habe a nice day

so how does it compare when run against Scorpion's AntiFog Visors?
Why don't they just build the Helmet Properly in the first place . Surely this a Safety feature . Well I guess it's an Excuse to Screw another £30-£40 out of you .
Can the Pinlock be removed in the summer and reused the following winter?
Or does removing it make it unusable?
Yes, you can take it off and put it on again. I did it 5 min. ago (bought it today and the shop installed right away, but they did not clean the visor properly before)

Pinlocks are simply the best, one tip, buy a genuine one. There are some truly crap copies that just make things worse.
Thx a lot

How to remove the pinlock antifog from visor.
Use a screw driver to pry off the visor
My visor has the pins outside and nothing inside, I cannot lock it in like that :(
Then you have tear off posts, not an internal pinlock insert post.
Silicone strip commentary was vague The silicone strip is placed against the visor
Run finger along strip to ensure properly seated
THANK GOD I FOUND THIS ...HELMET NOOB

useless, only how to fit pinlock, nothing about thighten it to the surface :P
It holds itself in place but you have to have or buy a visor that has the Pinlock for the laminate to hold onto
