I love these videos. been following for only a short time but I've learned so much already. not just in my tattoos but in my art. thank you guys for doing what you doing. making us street chump tattooers learn and grow to be great like you.
Great Show Mr. Meeks! I was an art teacher for a decade, I've been a painter for life, and I've been tattooing for around six years, and your program has been a huge help! I'd like to see a show about the difference between realistic tattooing and xerox copies, or a show about how important it is to work hard and be original! So many tattooers are just Pinterest jockies today, its frustrating when you hand draw every tattoo!!! At any rate, thanks for all you do!!!
Thanks a lot for the support and for taking the time to comment. I have been working a little more in realism lately and when I get to the point where I feel I have something valuable to offer, I will absolutely do a show on realism.
I kinda wish you would do a video on the modern watercolor tattoos you were talking about at the beginning. They come through our shop all the time but what your doing does not. :) Keep up the good work
Thanks for laying out these kinds of concepts in a clear manner. I'm not an artist at all but looking into getting some tattoos in the near future. One of them I'm hoping to be more watercolor like but I've heard nothing but horror stories about how they age. Looks like if I ever have that piece done I'll have to go to you or someone else that really knows their shit about layering, line work, and contrast, and have it done in multiple sessions. +1 sub!
thanks for this =) my mentor iff we can call him that hehehe he does ater colours and yes the reaction from the other studios in town is that they think his work looks unfinnish, and yes contrast can be what seems to be missing. and now i understand a bit better how hard of a balance it can be so you can still make it look us free and expressive as water colours can be and still deliver a good tattoo. =)
That looks good man, I have a question though, I see you're using a pen style machine, I've been thinking of getting one, how do you like it and what brand are you using?
Wao, I'm so inspired about your dedication, I'm an hispanic tattoo artist, I only have close to a Year exploring and working in the tattoo world. And I can tell you after InkbroTV channel this is by far the best, and most well explained videos I've found. How can I support you guys to keep this coming? Loved it!
Thanks a lot! We need to add hoodies to our store. We are using a service that prints and ships the merchandise for us and I am pretty sure that hoodies are an option. I will look into it. You can see what we do have available at tattooimprovement.com
As always, a wonderfully informative video! Thanks for sharing the type of needles you use, it really helps me, BUT I still don't know what voltage to use 😔 I have a Critical ATOM power supply (color changing, very cool) and a rotary tattoo pen... For shading: It seems like I can't get ink in far enough and I try not to push too hard on the skin with my machine. Do you put any physical pressure on the stretched skin? For lining: 9L's look like 5's. When I go back in with a liner at the end, the customer seems pretty sensitive. Is it still okay to do that? How long until it's too late? Any advice will be helpful. Thanks again!!!
I got my first tattoo fixed up because I hated it- my artist did water colour and towards the end I threw a Fucking FIT. it hurt so badly. I cried and screamed those last 10-15 minutes. I don't know how he stayed still
Happy Holidays to ya'll! Great video as usual. Good points, I had an artist in my shop watering down colors to make the Watercolor effect also putting it in really scratchy. I don't do Watercolor tattoos but it always occurred to me that you'd treat it like any other color work. Saturate that fucker so it last long. Thanks for validating my assumption.
Thanks! I think that is a common approach to watercolor effects. I am just concerned about the longevity of that approach. I agree. Saturation is key. at least in the most important areas
Eric, are you suggesting that color inks can't be washes like greywash? I would think that as long as you keep a full dark to light range, the work will hold. I've done quite a few of these splatter/dripping/pooling styles in the last couple of years and haven't had a complaint yet. Maybe I'm missing something? I guess time will tell right?
Appreciate your tutorials, but this one is just a very bad drawing, I don't think it is anywhere near a beautiful bird. Lack of precision and bad chromaticness.
smh, is it responsibility for tattoo artist make something ordinary to extraordinary art? I thought i found a great tattoo tutorial channel, but... bye.
Fireside Tattoo Network I love the way you handled that! I really appreciate these videos. They never fail to help when I'm trying a new technique. Respect to you.

Wrong! the strongest contrast is not the house but rather the river and rocks

Joshua JCJGR Not at all. I'm speaking entirely from personal experience. I don't do enough of them to have a definitive rule.
I love your channel but based on contrast the house is not the focal point

Thanks for the input. I was happy with it personally. It was based on a piece that he brought in. Thanks again for watching
