I had no idea the Nightwatch with Ewan McGregor was a remake. I liked it so much when it came out that I bought a copy of it on DVD. I would say it's worth checking out.
I remember watching the remake when it came out in the late 90s and revisited it often over the years. I finally watched the original last night and just finished watching this one. I really did enjoy this one more. I did see the reveal coming from a mile away, though. I'm not going to knock it for that, though. The remake is exactly like the original in almost every way. Even the sets are almost the exact same. Less nudity. Americanized the dialogue. But Ewan McGregor and Josh Brolin are always a joy to watch.
The original was, still is great. Of course there´s stuff in it you couldn´t and wouldn´t do today. But I never thought we would be getting a sequel 30 years later, with mostly the same cast, which is great. Even the doctor on call is back. All their careers "started" with NIGHTWATCH. And we continue the story. I call the duplication nostalgia. But it wasn´t playing identical. And the subtitle Demons are Forever fits. The showdown is not as good as in the first one. But you still have a nice whodunnit component to it. Love them both. Is Jens a dick, certainly. And it was nice to see, he hasn´t change. I was totally excited for the sequel and Ole didn´t let me down. 8,5/10 and 8/10. Ole did the US remake too. I think it´s a pretty much a "shot for shot" remake if I recall. But I could be wrong. Haven´t seen it in ages.
In other news The Substance was shown in Cannes yesterday. The new film from the director of Revenge with Matilda Lutz that came out a few years ago. The Substance could be one of the best horror movies coming out this year. I look forward to your review sometime in the future.

Ok
In Denmark, the first movie outsold Jurassic park. I think that’s why they said a long awaited sequel
Makes sense

Wouldn’t it be crazy if they remade the sequel here with the same actors from the remake
