I saw Beastie Boys at Madison Square Garden in 2004. It was made into a concert film called “Awesome, I F-ing Shot That!” They did “Intergalactic” as the encore but performed in the crowd! Amazing time. The concert was filmed by audience members who were given cameras.
A few great Beastie Boys songs I rarely see others react to (if at all) are: 1. Possee in Effect 2. Slow and Low 3. Something's Got to Give 4. Professor Booty (it has a response from MCA to a 3rd Bass diss on the song "Sons of 3rd Bass) 5. The Skills to Pay the Bills (the live in Amsterdam video is dope) 6. Jimmy James 7. Putting Shame in Your Game 8. An Open Letter to NYC 9. Right Right Now Now 10. Vibes 11. Sure Shot Freestyle (in Germany 1994 - great live performance - my #1 recommendation here) 12. Do It (Mike D KILLS it!) I think you'll see more of their versatility musically and lyrically on these tracks. Several are deeper cuts. Great reaction as always! And def check out Daughters of Reykjavík to see how hip hop and that B-boy influence went all the way to Iceland. They are truly unique! A few to try are: 1.Ef mig langar það (the BASS on this track omg!) 2. Kalla mig hvað? (dope video) 3. Thisty Hoes (filmed during covid lockdown very creatively) 4. Bossy (another dope video 5. Hæpið (Live on KEXP) 6. Hot Milf Summer (you're NOT ready for that one AT ALL) 7. Ógeðsleg ft. Kylfan (the one that sent me down the rabbit hole like you with Beastie Boys. It's here: ua-cam.com/video/WoIkWEqeke0/v-deo.html&ab_channel=DaughtersofReykjav%C3%ADk)
@StaxReacts I saw them with my brother twice at Lollapalooza 1994 and at the Philadelphia Civic Center with The Roots 1995. RIP MCA & Philadelphia Civic Center 😢
Stax, your reactions bring a smile to this 58 year old... I saw the Beastie's first tour in which they were the opening act in Madonna's Like a Virgin Tour. I got to see and work with them many times after the Paul's Boutique album as I was one of Capitol Records Rep in the South Florida area. Best performance I saw was when they headlined a show with Cypress Hill and Henry Rollins at Bayfront Park Miami. They guys were at the top of their game! Not only were they talented but most important are great, funny guys.
Thanks for goin back to this! This live performance was dope on sooo many levels! Notice at 4:15 they inserted a sampled drop from DJ Kool's "Let me Clear My Throat", which incidentally was a song that borrowed its own main line from the Beastie Boys' song, "The New Style". Nothing cooler than bi-directional homage paid among artist! ✊🏽
I saw the Beasties @ Nassau Colosseum on Long Island, NY during this album tour. KRS-ONE opened the show. The stage was a massive “turntable” so that everyone could see them. They told us to get out of our seats and bum rush the stage. And then they brought out the Diabolical Biz Markie to cover “Benny & the Jets” by Sir Elton John. Mix Master Mike would throw on different records and they never knew what was coming next but still M.C.’d without missing a beat.
Thanks for this one! The Beastie Boys are a one of a kind group. I think your reactions are introducing a lot of younger people to these guys. A few rap songs to check out are: "I Wish" by Skee Lo "It Takes Two" by Rob Base & DJ EZ Rock "Mind Playing Tricks On Me"(explicit) by Geto Boys Keep crushing it!
Live Beastie Boys performances are always great! In my opinion, their concert at Glasgow is their best. You should totally watch it even if you have to break it into parts. If you want a shorter live performance that is great, check out their performance of “skills to pay the bills“ live in Amsterdam.
My most memorable concert was my childhood all time favorite Michael Jacksons during his Dangerous tour. I went with a school buddy. I think we were 10 or 11 years old.. it was in a stadion and we were too far from the stage and to short to see much but we had a blast! Will never forget he (yeah probably a puppet or stuntman 🤔) shot off the stage at the end wearing a spacesuit with a rocket-backpack 🤩
Came here to point out that the crazy beat with the horns they mix in that you called “nasty” (right before Ad Roc screams “DROP!”) is a WU TANG beat 🔥 that’s from “Uzi (Pinky Ring)” off the 4th Wu album Iron Flag, one of the sickest Wu bangers ever! I am fortunate to have seen the Beasties several times back in the day, first time all the way back in 1994 at Lollapalooza. Also in the lineup: A Tribe Called Quest and Pharcyde 🔥 🔥 man the 90s were awesome 😂
Seen the Beasties in '87 and on one of the Lolapalooza tours. Can't remember what year that was. Saw a lot of shows in my time and two bands that I've seen numerous times and were great every time I saw them: Rush and ZZ Top!
Since your doing a reaction of them live, PLEASE check out them from The Awesome I Shot That tour. Thats the tour i told you about that my ears were ringing for 2 days. Super fun!!
@@StaxReacts I wrote this on my first comment after you saw it, so...lol Not to sound to soft, but it brings joy to my heart that the new generations are discovering the Beasties. 🤍
You did this song in the regular version, it have 4 original versions from a EP/Short LP with only Root Down x 4 on it. I prefer the beat on Free zone mix, the video to the regular is just better. Root Down (Free Zone Mix) ua-cam.com/video/6W6acaVGI0Q/v-deo.html
You can spend your hard earned dollars on better things than concert tickets. But yes... concerts are fun. And very crowed. You could try outdoor events, with chill entertainers. But concert tickets are priced ludicrous. No. ridiculous. Why did tickets for Pink Floyd, AC/DC, Santana, BB King, Page/Plant Zep Reunions, Paul McCartney, only cost $35.00 in 1993 or 1996????
Your reactions are awesome! This is another great GenX representation. We love you young people! Keep the good vibes rollin'!✌️🎶
Thank you so much 🙏🏽
I was very very lucky to see these guys live and hang out with them backstage after the show. Unbelievable night!
Amazingggg
You gotta check out live from Glasgow!!!!!!! It’s insane

MCA definitely WOULD NOT appreciate you plying his music without paying him.
No one is talking about anything from a money aspect, you sound so stupid.
