you can also use a knife but you want a bigger one then what he had. but yes rocks , those parking embunkments/concrete (if your in an urban area) spoons (i would rather use a knife ) a chefs knife ya know the ones with the blade jutting off the handleor what mikey myers typically uses. this methods differnt from the knife one.
@@alexsnow3319 It's Florida. Based on my few months in Georgia, true rocks are few and far between down south of the extreme edge of glaciation. You might find some sandstone once in a while. but bupkiss for manageable chunks of metamorphic stone like granite, marble or gneiss. - I recall one time I found what I thought was a rock, went to use it to hammer in a tent stake, and on the first hit it disintegrated leaving me with a tent stake cut in the palm of my hand.
So entertaining. Chaz' death jiggles during the can opening cracked me up. Just the perfect mix of callous and ridiculousness. Can I have some more please?
I absolutely agree. A Wake is such a phenomenal film, I truly enjoy when they upload these. Drunk Before Noon is also excellent, and my favorite series as I love Absurdist Comedy.
Damned guys. This was not what I was expecting when I saw a new video from you guys. Looks amazing Thanks for the hardworking I know this must have taken.
Great job, pretty much everything looked fantastic. Now for those of us that were scouts and are prepared with the most important tool of all.... Knowledge. All you need is a brick or rock and you scrub the can on that abrasive surface for a short time and you will break the seam on the can. It takes surprisingly little to accomplish. That lounge chair backpack was fantastic!
I am surprised (although I probably shouldn't be) on how much I enjoyed this film. The comedy of errors was ok but leg spasm had me chuckling out loud. Well done everyone!
Or a solid-bladed knife with a thick blade profile. Something you can palm-hammer through the top of a modern food can. In a pinch, a wide-bladed flat-head screw driver will work.
@@Amcsae Too true! I have opened a can with a knife, and it is not done by frantic stabbing, but instead by careful placing and bracing (and do NOT brace the can between your legs!!!) and a single, solid strike against the pommel of the knife. Then extract the knife, set near the hole you made, repeat until your cuts have enough of an opening to get the food out. And always be careful, this method WILL leave sharp edges eager to slice the dickens out of your hands!
I started watching this with a serious intention. Once the comedy started, I loosened up. I remember several years back, when hordes of people were making zombie and/or post apocalyptic movies on their phones. I would thank them and offer friendly advice. Nothing breaks immersion like watching a 13 yo wearing clothes that had just been washed during an apocalypse scenario that is supposed to be 2 years in. Frankly, I think Mann Shorts is a collection of very talented people and I sincerely hope you continue to do what you do!
I love the comedy, the slow progression of escalation and then that final twist at the end. What a fantastic piece of work, well worth a watch and praise all involved
I saw the title, but didn't look at the channel... I thought I recognized the first frame of the intro but was confused until it dawned on me. Absolutely awesome job guys. Can't wait for your full feature.
All of the previous commenters have said all of the good things. I'll say that I agree with all of them! Great job, great effects. Having watched all of the D&D editions, I can tell you guys are serious about your craft and this is just proof positive. Keep up the great work!
I was prepared to give this film the respect that an apocalyptic film deserves. The first laugh literally caught me off guard and I pretty much just dissolved into a stomach holding laughing mess. I KNEW he was going to use the can opener no matter what, but still seeing the body jerking... perfection. Please please do more surprising films like this.
This was such an interesting mix of comedy elements: slap stick, satire, gallows humor, etc. It also has the "feel" of a serious post apocalyptic kind of concept, where the characters are genuinely struggling to survive and no one can dare trust one another. A visceral "sweet and salty" viewing experience of the surreal intensity mixed with the reality shattering hilarity. 10/10 Would watch a full series of this.
Wow! Next level! Great job, definitely international festival submission stuff...he says, as if he has any idea about internation film festivals...or film at all for that matter. If only there were a thumb icon to click, to match his IQ...
Reminds me of a script in "Heavy Metal" a long, long time ago. No beans. Parts. Great job. Perfect from start to finish. Almost fell out of my chair laughing when Chaz was 'triggered' every crank of the can opener. :D
This is good therapy for anyone that takes life a little too seriously. Hilarious and one totally unexpected mishap after another. Very funny and entertaining!
God, I'm so proud of all of you for coming this far. This is absolutely deserving of the awards. Y'all got me CRACKED UP with the jokes. The timing was PERFECT. Fantastic job, Mann Shorts. Truly fantastic. :)
If looney tunes were bought by a British comedy company and decided to do a walking dead spin off, this is what I imagine they would come up with. LMFAO well done!
I agree. Especially since my first introduction to the "I have a can of food and no way to open it" bit was from looney tunes cartoons when I was a kid. Though I spent the first half of this trying to figure out if the German flag on the army shirt had any significance.
OMG NOOOO DOOOONT EVER OPEN A CAN LIKE THAT! thats how you hurt yourself! .......see, look what i mean! LOL this dude is a standalone "3 stooges go camping" act hes got amazing comedic timing and physical comedy!
If they'd shown us THIS back in Boy Scouts, I'd have taken "Be Prepared" a lot more seriously.
You can open a can by scraping it on rocks too.

And top off the suffering, those were French-cut canned green beans. Like vegetable spaghetti.
This was ABSOLUTELY PHENOMENAL. You are all truly master of your craft.
And that ending was just... **Chef's Kiss** Perfection.
Having watched a lot of drunk before noon, I feel this is exactly how it would go for Fendel in the apocalypse.
You read my mind!
LMAO true!
Great mix of levity into the seriousness of the plot. Also, the camerawork and audio overall were spot on. Beautifully done!
As much as I enjoy the D&D skits and hope they never end, also love it when you guys flex your creative muscles as well.

Thanks for the hardworking I know this must have taken.
Cinematography was great! The comedy timing was amazing. Well done!
The ONLY thing that's missing is the little logo at the end indicating, "Brought to you by the Florida Department of Tourism"

Note to self, add a can opener to apocalypse gear.

@@MonkeyJedi99 yeah, just don't use the knife to bounce-stab the top of the can rapidly!

This is kind of like if Burt Gummer from Tremors and Marv from Home Alone had a child in the Post Apocalypse.. except his nemesis is beans.
Got to love it. Nice job on the humorous angle on this one!
Clap Clap Clap Encore Encore! This was great. I appreciate the little details, the dirt, the grittyness, the sounds. Well done all around!
I just had surgery a week ago but didn't quite hurt myself when the 1st laugh happened.
So epic. Well done, sirs.

THIS WAS SO GOOD! I could watch feature length stuff from you guys with a concept like this one being so great.
I saw the title, but didn't look at the channel... I thought I recognized the first frame of the intro but was confused until it dawned on me. Absolutely awesome job guys. Can't wait for your full feature.
I was surprised by how fast I got invested.
It's Here!!! Loved this film. Amazing job to the whole cast and crew!
I say this a lot to you guys. BEST ONE YET!. Very badass. Would love to see more short films like this!!!
Amazing bit of cinema you have there. Loved it.

I love y'all's short films! Keep em coming
Cool Beans!. A nice little tale of post apocalyptic folk, in Florida! Lovely! 😋
That deep breath before the scream was just 🤌
Note to self: put a can opener in apocalypse kit
This is for sure going to be loved by the DAYZ community!!! Sharing everywhere!!!!!!!
Damn good job, Justin & Chaz! The filmmaking was spot on. The slapstick worked really well for this film!
Y'all never cease to amaze! The writing, acting, makeup, camera work, all top notch. So much fun!
Lol can opener is king! Been on more than one camping trip where we had to get creative to open a can for a meal. Brings back very painful memories.
Victorinox Swiss-army knife has a great can opener.
I may or may not have pee’d a little from all the inappropriate laughter. BEANS!!!!! Thank you for the OUTSTANDING short
This is down right hilarious. Perfect ad for can openers, by the way.
That was seriously good. Great work!
Apocalyptic comedy!!! The guy wearing the "Recruit" hat was really funny!!! Thanks for posting!!!
That was not as gory as I expected and much funnier. This could have just as well been called Can Opener. Great job!
Reminds me of a script in "Heavy Metal" a long, long time ago. No beans. Parts.
Great job. Perfect from start to finish. Almost fell out of my chair laughing when Chaz was 'triggered' every crank of the can opener. :D
A very stark view into our near future. Im buying all the can openers i can now
Justen - this was so good. Tell Tom a random internet person said his performance was excellent. Would love more stuff like this!
This is good therapy for anyone that takes life a little too seriously. Hilarious and one totally unexpected mishap after another. Very funny and entertaining!
The acting was so good!
Holy Crap! I wasn't expecting that!
That's terribly good
Chaz dragging a folding chair around the apocalypse. Priceless.
Outstanding stuff!! (as if we would expect nothing less)
A wonderful current documentary. Im sure you all will survive
This is just a Florida episode. In all its glory.
Your ability to subtlety insert comedy is phenomenal.
Great job! Good to see Tom again! He is one of my favorite actors from the earlier skits.
That premise has no right to be as funny as it was! Awesome little movie
I absolutely love this. I could have used more beans though
Opening screen. "Yes!!! Fendel gets a serious role!!!" 2 minutes in. "NeverMIND!"
the woman set up a trap with the beans and took all their stuff
Great video. The have nots will always go after the haves in a SHTF scenario. I love the comedic style.
Some of the best acting Chaz has done. It's not easy to play a voiceless part AND be funny.
So good. Great surprise ending!!!
Smiles, chuckles, and a good laugh. Very well done indeed.
Beautiful work, Justen, cast, and crew. Thank you all, Mann Shorts, for all you do! ❤
Positively brilliantly done.
That was good. bounce between humorous and sober.
Keep a can opener in your survival kit folks!
I enjoyed 100% and want more!
Excellent fun.
Just perfect! The right amount of comedy and suspense
His facial expressions at the beginning were so powerful. What a great piece of work and that ending ... lol, priceless!
Oh my poor Chaz!
This really gives me a craving for some Dirty Prospector brand pork n beans.
Y'all are so damn creative and fucking hilarious.
God, I'm so proud of all of you for coming this far. This is absolutely deserving of the awards. Y'all got me CRACKED UP with the jokes. The timing was PERFECT.
Fantastic job, Mann Shorts. Truly fantastic. :)
Dang guys, this was awesome.
That was horrifically funny
The gun going off half cocked in the holster was a nice touch, apparently that happened a lot with colt revolvers
The reveal of the can opener stuck in chaz's forehead had me rolling! The quality in each shot was so good.
So much fun with a Jasper Carrot comedy style that I love .
Silly but Brutal, looking forward to more guys👍👍👍
Simplistic, but definitely worth the watch
Afther watching this short movie I decided to never go out of home without a can-opener 😅
That was well, well, well done.
That was freakin' great! Good job!
This was really good! Keep ‘em coming
I have not seen such a masterpiece. Well done gentlemen. Slow clap
Barry was awesome!
...
I have that exact same can opener. It is pretty awesome in its simplicity and versatility.
🤌 a masterpiece for the ages.

This is why my survival kit has *TWO* can openers!
Here I thought seeing the "body" in the yellow shirt breathing was just an amateur actor. You geniuses foreshadowing master!!
That was AMAZING! I WANT MORE!
This was a super awesome piece 👏👏👏 Thanks to all who participated in making this 🙏 I hope there can be more at some point 🍻
Not expecting a comedy. Great work!
OMG NOOOO DOOOONT EVER OPEN A CAN LIKE THAT! thats how you hurt yourself!
.......see, look what i mean!
LOL this dude is a standalone "3 stooges go camping" act hes got amazing comedic timing and physical comedy!
Loved it! Hopefully this was as fun to make as it was to watch!
Ha, ha, ha, very funny! Although I was waiting for killer Sarah to turn up.
