I'm a Ham Operator and the communications director for my Disaster Team. I guaran Damn Tee you you will NOT get 25 miles out of those radios to SAVE YOUR LIFE! 1 Mile-yes. Two if you are VERY lucky! Get your Technician Class Ham license and some decent 2meter/440 Mhz. Handie-talkies-NOW you have your 25 Mile Range, and in many cases, THEN some-to say nothing of the HUNDREDS of Miles potential, depending on which repeater/s you'll be using. I'm not knocking you in ANY way-I AM knocking the manufacturers of those radios, whose level of truth I put on par with most elected officials.
+Bruce Forster well I've used them at over 10 miles distance already over the interstate. I'm sure in the bush it will greatly diminish. But I do want to get into HAM for sure.
On flat terrain on an Interstate....Ok, I can grant that. I live on the North Oregon Coast. VERY hilly here, and HAM is the ONLY thing that works reliably, in all conditions, no-matter-what. 220 Mhz. is my favorite Tactical" Band. It "Bends" a little in hill country. Also, out here there is VERY LITTLE 220 Repeater activity, early NONE, in fact, out here on the Coast. I'm discussing these frequencies with the leadership of my Ham club for emergency Comms, when we DON'T want the media listening in; and there ARE times!
Good Basic logic. Your wife and daughter each need their own box also. Thinks about your vehicle tools - spares - recovery box. My wife made a 'picnic box' for our bug out trip cooking kit and food items. Our bug-out-bags (not accessed during the bug out trip) are on the roof rack, wrapped in a trap. Keep us posted.
just empty every pocket... that's great!! lol... been a jeep owner for years and never heard that one... nice load out. love the snug pak products.. keep the jungle bag in my B.O.B. keep up the great videos. the prepping never ends brother... have a good one..
Great foundation to build on. I know it sucks to have to stuff all that gear into a big container, I found that picking up a two drawer container works great. One drawer for food kit, the other drawer for items like flashlights, gloves, fire kit, water kit. The big stuff like boots, pack, sleep system can be stored in a 3 day pack. I'm relieved to see you got the PT belt and you actually suggested a functional use for it lol
Man nothing beats our wranglers, take your time with building I'm approaching mine with a preppers mentality. Great video. I may do a VR to you on mine eventually
MASK Tactical for sure man, yeah I keep wanting to start filming a few runs in mine, and then a series for my channel, but saying is one thing and doing is another. I kinda regret passing up a Rubicon for obvious reasons but I got the Willy's wheeler package and it's been great to me. And my dad's sport jku is the workhorse. Have an older 94 in the desert emp proof and cold starts like a charm after jump-starting. You should look into joining a Jeep club. Lots of valuable information from other jeepers. Looking forward to more on your bug out vehicle and take care my friend.
The jungle bag is great. You mention repeatedly that you have a number of options because your sleep system isn't very warm. You may want to look into the Travelpak 2 also by Snugpak. The jungle bag you have is rated to 50 F. The Travelpak 2 is rated to 35 F. It weighs 7oz more. It's an inch and a half longer when compressed and the same diameter when compressed. The Travelpak 2 is lacking the water resistant layer. Its a little heavier and a tiny bit bulkier when compressed. But, it's good for another 15 degrees and that's a pretty big deal.
Great video (great series of videos for that matter). :) I'll be very interested to watch your progress on the Jeep itself. Always happy to share build experiences with other Jeep owners. Mine's a 2011 as well. (Rubicon Unlimited). And you're right, the build can get very expensive, very fast. But the nice thing is that you can approach it in stages, as the Jeep is probably the ultimate mod vehicle. I've been through the process over the last few years with lift kits, bumpers, winches, tires, lighting systems, under armor, performance mods, accessories, etc. So many different ways to approach it, and everyone's needs and budget are different. Looking forward to see where you go with yours! Thanks!
great start....think about a winch and larger water jugs and at least 10 gals of extra gas. I want to add a 30 gallon fuel tank to my jeep because if the SHTF there won't be any gas to buy. Oh...and coffee! lol
A suggestion: Pack a THREE Season sleeping bag & a Two person SOL Bivvy. When it does get truly cold, you slide the SOL over your regular Bag-You WILL stay toasty.....My "Poor Man's Sleep System".
+Bruce Forster thanks for the recombination Bruce! I purposely go light on the sleep system during the warmer months. I plan on getting a heavier bag for winter though.
More 0.25 mile walkie talkies haha. I have the same containers as you for spare parts and consolidating junk in my G and they fit quite well in the back even though they are flimsy. They are also stackable tape sealed if you gotta store parts lol.
those walkie talkie are frs or gmrs frequency bands, depending on where you are in the United States you may need a license to operate the radios, and they are only good for a mile or two in actual working condition, they just say that on the package.. 25 miles can only be done if clear area elevated to an elevated point.
I am an Amateur Radio operator( Ham) so yes I do know there will be time that you can get a fair distance with the cheaper radios and they are used by the CERT teams and many other groups. I wasn't trying to take anything away from what you were doing they are good little radio's I would just not recommend promoting 35 miles as a standard. 3 to 5 miles is a good recommendation with the possibility of longer distances with the right conditions. Meant no Offense
Ditch the crate and load everything in a pack, when shit hits the fan you don't want both hands carrying a crate. Headlamp, flashlight, fire, compass, whistle
+ryan2stix this isn't designed to be carried. I have a pack. If I had to ditch this gear I would just grab whatever extra I could, but all in all sometimes you will have to leave some gear behind. Can't take it all.
have you thought about an older vehicle that will survive an EMP? I had a jk and it wouldn't survive on trail the same as older vehicles. don't mean to be a kill joy but it has 3 computers.
+Step One survival yes I have, and plan to get something older as well. I'm not at a point in life to be able to afford it all right now though. Got to have a reliable daily as well.
MASK Tactical Roger that I get where your coming from. for comfort a jk is cool. I've seen monster jk too. but the sad sad story is all that money becomes a paper weight when the big EMP comes. cool ride tho!
+MASK Tactical Mountain house and other dehydrated trail food is all ready cooked just dehydrated you can re-hydrate them with cold, water hot just makes it faster and more pleasant, but yeah you point about the MRE been ready to eat out of the bag is good.
+Brennan Jones Thanks buddy! Still much work to do, but i'm getting there. Slowly but surly lol. I served 3 years with the 29th ID. Here's a link to my bio page on our site if you're interested. www.masktactical.com/rogue
No problem at all man. Thank you for checking things out. Here's a link to a free webinar that will tell you pretty much everything about us and what we do. Would love to have you join us! www.masktactical.com/webinar-registration
+Noah Perkins not so much a small one like this with a skull print on it. Sure I can have some uses, but nothing too serious that I couldn't achieve with proper gear.
hi great video just got a Cherokee here in the UK and you gave me lots of ideas what to carry and how and i want to support your channel and as a brand new bushcrafter was wondering if i use your store will they ship to the UK cheers Big Phil
Hey man! Glad you liked it. Yes we ship to the UK but we will need you to submit the order via email as our current store cant process international orders automatically. So if you shoot us an email via the contact page and let us know exactly what you're wanting to buy we can quote you the shipping and give you a special payment link. We are upgrading our store system later this year so we wont have to do things this way much longer.
+Gorilla HD 217 haha, I have had mine for like 3 years now and the most I've done to it is put on some decals, a console cover, and some molle visors lol. Too busy building my business.
do you have a special helmet to transform the jeep into a tank or helicopter? your name and that jeep just made me think of a toon i watched growing up. nice rig, great vid.
Would love to have a jeep but their fuel economy sucks and they are way over priced .. Used them during my 20 yrs as a leo and they have serious issues with things breaking ( Glove box cover, center console top breaking, door and window handles breaking and falling off,etc .. ) My dept actually put boxes in the back so we could throw the parts in there so the maint shop could repair and reinstall them .. I currently have a Subaru VX Cross-trek and it is solid, good gas mileage and can climb up your back .. Just wish Subaru built jeep as it would be a solid reliable beast .. Good video thnx ..
I like your videos your information is great. Your big out vehicle has one problem though. It is run by an ECU. Other than an EMP which would render your vehicle useless you would also have troubles if we "lost the grid" as well because as soon as it had a problem you would need diagnostic equipment at some point to fix it. A lot of cars these days can go into limp mode to protect your engine or transmission and you will need diagnostic equipment to clear limp mode even if you can fix it. If you want it to truly be a bug out vehicle that can handle most shtf situations a car that is pre ECU would be better. If it has a carby than it won't matter if there is an EMP or the electrical grid fails.
Bug out vehicle is to take you to your bug out location which in most cases is secret to the rest of us. It is good to have some basic spare parts in there and tools. If you depend on the vehicle for bug out you will soon run out of petrol. Most of us we keep extra petrol on the vehicle among water as well but most important is to have extra petrol at your bug out location including the bulk of food and water. Personally I use a Cherokee xj for bug out vehicle fully modified but at the same time it is not noticeable as a bov for obvious reasons. Petrol. Food. Water has to be plenty according to the people you are carrying and the distance you will have to travel. One more important point is to have different roots available for your bug out location. My bug out location is in rural country and underground in a cave which I drive with my big all the way in and as far as the entrance goes is very well camouflaged. I suppose I was lucky to find land with a cave in that respect I mention this cause even in the best bug out locations you are never safe so your BOV has to be equipt at the maximum to either take you there or escape from there. It is an expensive process to achieve e.g second ECU , MAP, GASKETS, BELTS, HOSES AND another 20 items and not to mention you have to have a good knowledge of you vehicles mechanics and electrics if you want to call it a bug out vehicle. The process of prepping is long and expensive and unless you are a millionaire it will take you some years to reach the level of calling any vehicle BOV.
every other video i have seen with a bug out bag or vehicle where the person has a carry weapon they always carry a med kit with designed to treat a gunshot wound and a tourniquet in case they have to use heir weapon or if someone is injured by a gun shot.........if you gonna carry a gun then you should carry the means to treat a gunshot wound in case you injure yourself or others.
beside the bugging out,how do you like your jeep wrangler? is it a good drive? with bugging out: do you think you could put everything you need for 4 persons to survive in there?
+TiMeJ34nD1T certainly if you know how to pack well. I personally have had no issues. 4x4 works phenomenally and it's a good drive considering it's a Jeep. It's no smooth ride but it's not too ridiculous for a Jeep.
very nice for camping. for a shtf situation totally useless, plan to be on foot. unless you have an old vehicle with no modern electronics you are waisting your time and money, tracking and emp vulnerability are in all modern vehicles. even with an old bug out vehicle, you will have to rely on roads (which will be guarded and patrolled) and refueling (guarded or depleted). only rely on what you can carry on your person.
+MASK Tactical sorry, it may be obvious to you and me and some that are teckies. but not everyone. most people don't even know how to check the oil, let alone what electronics are on board. these bugout vehicles could be real nice in rural areas. I have a 4x4 Yukon XL all set and ready to go, but am aware I might have to leave it where it's parked.
+Richard Baker Yup-soon as I saw it. The shit came back from day one. 72 hrs of lip barking and cranium confusion-oops. Not to think-just follow the orders.
Boots!!Need better boots!!I ditched the tactical style boots for a solid pair of ASOLO 520 GV backpacking boots with a pair of SUPERFEET green insoles, much better for your feet and ankles,230 lbs?You need the support!Im bigger than you,and they're a life saver!
I've just discovered your channel. I hit like and subscribe. So what kind of handgun do you carry? From the look of the holsters I would say you probably lean toward a semi auto. I carried both revolver and auto loader during my years as a LEO. The auto was great in having extra ammo onboard but the revolver taught you to mark your target and take better aim. If that idiot in DC manages to outlaw auto loaders, I would still be happy with an S&W Model 19, .357 Mag. I like your ideas. When I was close to your age, I did that with my Wrangler and then Land Rover. Now I have a Grand Cherokee with all the fancy FWD options (it does go off road) and is seems to have less room than the TJ.
+MASK Tactical Ruger is always a good way to go. My .22LR is a Mk.II Government Model Target Pistol. I respect people's choice of weapons. I was not familiar with the SR22 so I went to the almighty Google. The first review I came to was by Ralph. Only name given. I can only guess this person has it in for Ruger because your weapon is a Smurf Gun and my Mk.II and a Buck Rogers Reject. My own opinion of Ralph is very simple, he is an idiot. He has no business doing reviews when he has such preconceived ideas. The SR22 is a very fine weapon and I understand why the safety is made like it is. My Mk.II is over 30 years old and I have replaced the firing pin and extractor do to breakage but when you consider how many rounds I've fired in that time, it's not a problem. A .22LR is an excellent choice for a survival gun. It will take a rabbit, a .357 will blow it to pieces with nothing left to eat. People need to get over magnumitus. I am enjoying your videos!
you betcha, don't know about you but I'm ready. now I'm just waiting for those north Koreans to be falling from the sky. just roll with it, get ready, remember; if you're not a prepper you're already dead.
+FOOLS REPLY should be. Just depends on what shirts you're looking at. Here's our shop link. www.masktactical.com/shop if it's not showing in stock shoot us an email from the contact page and I will get it fixed, cause it should be. - Rogue
+Dean Madge Thanks man. It's nothing special. Honestly just a trunk of excess gear that I figured more useful in my jeep than in the house. This is going to evolve a lot over time when i'm able to invest more into it. It's going to be fun, but expensive :P - Rogue
+SaintMarneusCalgar Well. You can certainly survive on one per day. One MRE typically has nearly 1500-2000 calories in them if I remember correctly. You're probably looking at just one meal component. The whole package comes with many different things.
+Siyaad Barre if you're looking for fuel longevity you're not going to get that in any vehicle of this category. It is efficient with the fuel it consumes though. you're looking at an average of 15 mpg roughly stock.
Another great video, You should check out Spring Tail Solutions.com. I think you'd like what they have. I seen a video done by Black Scout Survival on his bug out jeep, It was a good one as well. Cheers man
MASK Tactical just saying if your car /jeep is chipped forget it your not moving in a emp all the gear in the world I would sell that 50.K thing and do it right, I mean I have pictures of X it's Here I took!
+The One I appreciate the concern but this video isn't about prepping for an EMP... don't be naive to think I'm not aware of what an EMP would do, or that I don't have contingencies for such a thing. I do this for a living.
Look at the amount of vids on the tube of obsessed peops with their "bugout" trucks. It's a freaking mass hysteria. Just an advice in case you decide to drive around on ur fancy Jeep ( when real shit will hit the spinner)- better make it bullet proof. Cause there'll be plenty of numbnuts with real skills, walking around equipped with "bugout" high powered scoped rifles, looking for a "bugout loots on the wheels" similar to urs. No offence buddy,😁
i love how the pooch is just chillen back there, letting you do your thing - while it watches over you. mad funny
+ImStricken06 haha yeah he just hangs out.

Very nice. Have basically the same thing. It's all about self preservation.

ill have to do an update on my rig, I got a nice locking box for all my range stuff you might like.

More details on your Jeep please?
What year make and model is good?
+Isaac Garcia it's a 2011.
Hope that didn't come out wrong it's only a suggestion. You know a lot more than me about survival stuff.
+Nabbi Chilcott thanks for watching! Glad you enjoy it. I'm aware of the variables.
Nabbi Chilcott rggfrryttyuuiklppppddsssssssssssddssssddyutttttttttyuii
Good stuff man. I'll own a Wrangler one day too. Subbed!!
+BZA RZA GZA Thanks man!
every other video i have seen with a bug out bag or vehicle where the person has a carry weapon they always carry a med kit with designed to treat a gunshot wound and a tourniquet in case they have to use heir weapon or if someone is injured by a gun shot.........if you gonna carry a gun then you should carry the means to treat a gunshot wound in case you injure yourself or others.
+Kenneth Donnelly I do, it's just not apart of this set of gear.
Well done
+Nikko Gutierrez thanks man!
I see all the tactical gear but what about the jeep it's self it looks like you could use some recovery gear bad
+motoxchris this video was specifically on my gear box. It's all a process man. Can't get it all at once.
MASK Tactical true that I would invest in keeping your rig mobile next if that's for sure it would be a shame to leave all that gear behind
Good stuff!!!
beside the bugging out,how do you like your jeep wrangler? is it a good drive? with bugging out: do you think you could put everything you need for 4 persons to survive in there?
+TiMeJ34nD1T certainly if you know how to pack well. I personally have had no issues. 4x4 works phenomenally and it's a good drive considering it's a Jeep. It's no smooth ride but it's not too ridiculous for a Jeep.
MASK Tactical damn that was a fast answer, cheers, looking forward to getting a wrangler!
You won't regret it man!
very nice for camping. for a shtf situation totally useless, plan to be on foot. unless you have an old vehicle with no modern electronics you are waisting your time and money, tracking and emp vulnerability are in all modern vehicles. even with an old bug out vehicle, you will have to rely on roads (which will be guarded and patrolled) and refueling (guarded or depleted). only rely on what you can carry on your person.
+Raven Rage it's going to aid me as far and long as it can. You're just stating the obvious.
Nice video
what about a rope and some carabiners?
+Pirobrás Industrial I keep paracord and have a couple biners on my packs. Plan on getting more. This is just a progress report.
Oh no a pt belt!! You were/are military huh?
+Richard Baker yessir! 1/116th inf!
+Richard Baker Yup-soon as I saw it.
The shit came back from day one.
72 hrs of lip barking and cranium confusion-oops.
Not to think-just follow the orders.
too bad jeep did away with the 4.0 and AX15. Good luck getting parts for that 6 speed
+Not Required there's plenty of aftermarket retailers. Haven't had any issues yet. I'll hopefully be looking into the crew chief when it hits though.
a very good video
+Houston Guffey thanks my friend!
"Man could have a pretty good weekend in Vegas will all this stuff."
Remember to trust your instincts ,and antibiotics are all ways handy . stay frosty .
+Y20057 Z.E.R.T KeinDeS.86 yeah def need to improve in the medical department.

+Mike Edge indeed! Nah, I got out in 2013 to go the family and business route. That's when I started this operation.

What did you get kicked out for?
I didnt get kicked out?
What kind of boots are those and where can I get a pair?
+ethan Wright All items mentioned in this video are linked in the blog post. Link is in the description. Check it out!
+Devin Venables I'll give them a look man! These however have never let me down yet. Served me very well in the military.
Are there gluten free M.R.Es? I was recently told I have an allergy to anything with gluten and am wondering about what to pack as far as food.
+Joshua Tichota I have no idea on that one man. I'm sure a quick Google search can tell you though.
okay, thank you
+Joshua Tichota no prob!
The PT belt most important item ...
+Randy Jolly without a doubt!
Did you find I link to that skull mask?
+TheOnlyGamer16z wut?
+TheOnlyGamer16z oh you mean the face mask? No but you can google and find them pretty quick.
+rickd248 thanks for watching man! The holsters I showed in this video are a few for my Ruger SR22 that I use for plinking and general range practice.
+rickd248 thanks man! I appreciate your support.
Are the boots comfortable?
+ItsTotalChaos (xDiablox16x) of course
Is something like red dawn really going to happen??
Highly unlikely. But that's not the scenario most of us prepare for.
you betcha, don't know about you but I'm ready. now I'm just waiting for those north Koreans to be falling from the sky. just roll with it, get ready, remember; if you're not a prepper you're already dead.
I fully promote the prepared lifestyle my brother! That's what our organization is all about.
that is a nice jeep, have you done a walk around vid of it?
+Mike Edge briefly in some previous videos but it's still pretty stock at the moment till I have the budget to build it.
best bug out car is the one best on GAS!
2000rayc wrong it's the one that starts

Are your t-shirts in stock XXL?
+FOOLS REPLY should be. Just depends on what shirts you're looking at. Here's our shop link. www.masktactical.com/shop if it's not showing in stock shoot us an email from the contact page and I will get it fixed, cause it should be. - Rogue
well setup kit
+Dean Madge Thanks man. It's nothing special. Honestly just a trunk of excess gear that I figured more useful in my jeep than in the house. This is going to evolve a lot over time when i'm able to invest more into it. It's going to be fun, but expensive :P - Rogue
+MASK Tactical hey its got more then mine lol ive got to get some MREs and topographical maps for my bag being in Alberta Canada its a great idea
+Dean Madge Yeah for sure. I always keep topo maps of areas I train and live in. Regardless of how well I think I know it. - Rogue
stick some dryer sheets on those stinky boots
LOL
You don't worry about about keeping all your stuff in a plastic container in your jeep with all those come and rob me stickers on it?
+Loke Man no.
Shouldn't a buyout layout be quick to grab and go? It's a question not being a smart ass.
+Dj Magik Mike I don't understand what you're talking about. This isn't a bug out bag....
+MASK Tactical 👍🏼
is a mre made for a whole day? looks tiny =)
+SaintMarneusCalgar Well. You can certainly survive on one per day. One MRE typically has nearly 1500-2000 calories in them if I remember correctly. You're probably looking at just one meal component. The whole package comes with many different things.
thank you for the fast reply :)
No problem! :D
Are you of Scottish descent?
What training
THE FOCUS WASN'T THE BEST
AT THE END BUT AMAZING VIDEO
+Findas32 H yeah sorry man, cam has a hard time staying clear when it's dark. It needs light for the sensors to focus properly. Thanks for watching!
Nice video, sub'd.
+Living Survival thanks man! I subbed you a while back too.
+MASK Tactical Hi what model jeep is that? And would you recommend me to buy it?
+Siyaad Barre My jeep is a 2011 wrangler JKU. I would recommend anyone to buy a jeep. They are great vehicles.
+MASK Tactical ok i live in u.k how is the fuel wise? Fuel here is pretty high
+Siyaad Barre if you're looking for fuel longevity you're not going to get that in any vehicle of this category. It is efficient with the fuel it consumes though. you're looking at an average of 15 mpg roughly stock.
Where are you from in Tennessee?
+Ian Stokes Johnson City. My names Ian too btw!
MASK Tactical your from JC? I am too.
+Ian Stokes yessir, Ian Talbert’s the name. Feel free to find me on FB.
ya got dark towards the end. hard to see. good stuff though.
Prior service?
Yessir, 29th Inf. Div.
Heck yeah man. Mos? I'm an 11b out here at Fort riley
11bang, only MOS there is!
Damn straight
You should check out our tribe man! We are always recruiting. www.masktactical.com/tribe

Dude, you may want to black out your license plate on this video.
+David Rainwater I don't.
Lol,,,,, You get pulled over, your going to get brung in for a robbery!
Big and unorganized.......sounds like me ; )
hello whats the name of ur dog ?
+Kartik Chadha hi Kartik, it's Onyx, and he's a husky.
nice :)
+Kartik Chadha thanks!
dude, you desperately need to get a good metal bumpers !!!
Even better, get a full thick metal protection all around your jeep jku !!!
+x111 xxx (x111download) I obviously have a few plans. Can't do it all overnight.
Another great video, You should check out Spring Tail Solutions.com. I think you'd like what they have. I seen a video done by Black Scout Survival on his bug out jeep, It was a good one as well. Cheers man
+Eric Rosbottom thanks man!
use a smaller stove you dont need a stove that big
+ProJecteSey it's for camping man...not survival.
ok
25 mile my ass
+PlayerBoss07 well I've already successfully used them at 15 across interstate. Of course this all depends on the terrain separating you.
you need to stop this surface bullshit and build a bunker
+The One yeah? Well that's like, your opinion, man.
MASK Tactical just saying if your car /jeep is chipped forget it your not moving in a emp all the gear in the world I would sell that 50.K thing and do it right, I mean I have pictures
of X it's Here I took!
+Alex Gempfer I do this for a living. I'm well aware of what will happen. You can build them overnight.
Uggg I wish I was rich
+Colin Hansen me too lol.
