Finally Finishing My Workshop! - Miter Station and Cabinets

  • This has been a long time coming. After getting the drywall up we kinda just skipped over the last step. For the past year we have been using this space without really finishing it off. Tools were scattered around making things less efficient and organized. Finally I bit the bullet and started coming up with the cabinet layout and miter station design.

    5:44 whether you have one person or two, using sticks between the laminate and the surface to hold them apart is easier because you can remove the sticks one by one and lower the laminate down and work the air out from the center to the edge

    I don't know about the tin cabinets. You could build this all out of maple plywoods, solid maple drawer fronts and solid maple door frames...and high quality hinges and slides for less. I mean this is a WORKSHOP, which implies that you have the skills to build your own.

    Looks fantastic. I am planning a new build. I was looking for ideas for size buy I don't want to go TOO big but also not come up short. It will be as wide as a double garage but length I am deciding. How long is your workshop? I will have bench saw, 1.8mx1m laser, 1200x1200 cnc, vinyl cutter, 3d printers etc. And will add steal lather and mill later

    I bought twelve old kitchen cabinets of two meters long and I turned them into a workshop station.
    now I have enough workspace and storage space of twenty-four meters in total.
    all this cost me 250 euros including worktop and paint and exposy hars.

  • @donny_bahama
    @donny_bahama 3 роки тому +3

    Sorry, but I gotta question any wood shop where the woodworker doesn’t make his/her own cabinets. It’s one thing if you remodel your kitchen and decide to repurpose your old cabinets... or even if you manage to procure a bunch of cabinets cheap. But this? There’s just no excuse for it - unless you’re shilling for Husky.

    • @rogueengineer
      @rogueengineer  3 роки тому +2

      I've built plenty of cabinets in my day but sometimes (due to time constraints this time) it's worth going with off the shelf cabinets. Steel cabinets will last, cheap cabinets or cabinets built in a hurry won't. Plus, have you seen the price of plywood lately!

    I understand sponsors, but it disappointing that for your "Dream Workshop" you used store bought cabinets and you didn't build them.
    Also , in the finished pix it doesn't look like there is enough space around your miter saw to use the compound miter functions

    • @rogueengineer
