The Taupō Trout Diaries- Series 2 Episode 13
A series of videos of trout caught in the Taupō District, New Zealand.
July, and the fish are moving up the river now. The winter run has started for sure.
Today I went for a walk along Hinemaiaia Stream in Taupo, talking to fellow anglers, while trying to land a trout myself . This video captures that day , forever . Talked to some wonderful people.
Spent the day on the Hinemaiaia Stream, catching fish where I could, it was a good day out.
Catch and release , lovely well conditioned trout , released to fight another day .

I was using a jelly glo bugs and slushies most of the time today . Primal brand , 9ft, 6wt indicator rod was what I used mostly today, had my euro wt3 with me as well.

Hi, now thats what I call a decent days fishing in winter on the Hini.! We fished it two weeks before you did and the river was low enough to get a re supply of glow bugs of the bushes on the opposite bank. The river banks got overcrowded and the carparks were full. It was a pleasure to get back to the Tongariro upper pools which we had all to ourselves for most of the day. Such is angling. Cheers mate. Harera

Why would you name the river that you are on? What it does is put more and more fishing pressure on that particular area. Great, you are producing a video so people can watch but it also means every man and his dog is now going to that river. That river already gets a lot of pressure as it is.

People ask me the river and I simply can’t not tell them . People still have to drive there , buy heaps of gear , and then they have to catch fish . That’s alot for some people . You would be surprised how lots don’t check out any other rivers than the ones they fish . It’s impossible to keep everyone happy too so I just do what brings me pleasure. It’s the only way
