So basically Elenas body was taken over by her look alike katherine and was living her life, and so katherine was in love with the other brother stefan so she broke up with damon in elenas body. It kind of drove him crazy so he killed her friend. When she finally got back to her normal self damon and elena said all of this in the scene. (They are toxic but the best couple) Anyway shes inlove with the whole bad boy vampire vibe (i am too) so shes like I have defend you, bend my morals blah blah. And yeah thats it.
