Something I’ve noticed after seeing the show however many times, is that when Stefan comforted her he always tried to keep her together. He was always terrified that she’d fall completely apart, so he’d always try his best to help her keep it together. When Damon was there for her, he just let her fall apart. He always knew she’d eventually be okay, so he just held her while she fell apart (literally and figuratively). This isn’t any hate towards Stefan. I just think their different ways of being there for her are so subtle and so interesting.

And also Stephan felt like not telling her the truth even it’s bad is the best choice he treated her like she wasn’t strong enough to handle stuff(well sometimes he was right) but Damon told her truth he remained truthful to her he gave her the trust that Stephan never gave her because he knew that telling her the truth and watching her fall apart is better than knowing that the one person you love couldn’t trust you enough to be truthful

What Elena didn't know is that her and Damon are kinda the same. They both never wanted to become a vampire. While in transition, Damon wished to be dead before turning but Stefan did not want that because he's scared to be alone. Hence, Damon clearly understands Elena during those times and was also the one to comfort and help her while Stefan was just afraid and obsessed on finding the cure.

Damon and Elena's dynamic works better because their two opposing personalities allow the other one for growth. Damon challenged elena took her out of her comfort zone made her question everything while elena was the mediator the healer and showed Damon compassion and another path other than the one he was taking. ❤ one of my fav on screen Duo. What chemistry. 😊
