Dave seems like a cool guy. You'd have no idea how hard it is to find a bass player who isn't useless. I've even heard of cases where the guitarist records the bass parts "to make things easier".
You could not be more spot on!! For some reason in my part of the world...bass players are quirky weirdos who flake out on you when you need them the most...sorry for sounding negative...but it has proven to be the case all too often!
Gregory Lavallee That's what punk bands are for... and even they don't stay stagnant if they've been doing it for years. Few bands manage to do the same thing time and time again for their whole career, unless they're Motorhead.
Matt Tuck from Bullet For My Valentine records all the rhythm guitar and bass for everything because he feels that if it's the same left hand playing, it's a lot tighter
That Teisco behind you at around the 16:00 mark -- I've wanted one of those exact models for years! It's so hard to find a red one as well, most are blue... Or trashed. SO jealous!!
Damn man, you have the best tone I've heard in a long time. In fact, yours is my favorite guitar tone right now. Thanks so much for sharing your tone hunting with the masses! Definitely cannot wait for more of these "in the studio" videos.
Hey guysm thanks for sharing the recording process. I've learned a lot by watching you guys make music. Special thanks to Dave. Cheers, my internet bros!
+Rabea Massaad im from argentina and you cant imagine how thrilled i am with al that gear that i see on your videos and robs videos. Just for you to know here in my country instruments and all arround music gear is super expensive so you just dont see a guitar collection as your so often. Anyways love your work man god bless, and sorry for the bad inglish
As you were playing the lap steel and slip up to the 12 fret, I found myself just nodding along and saying "Yes!" out loud. Can't wait for the album and the gig in Brighton!
The first time I heard about you was a week ago, since I lost contact with the metal scene for a while... Respect, your playing is intense and inspiring... Like spring, I would say...
Cheers man, thanks for checking it out. And thanks for the kind words about my playing, oddly enough, and rather coincidental I'd say, my name means spring in Arabic :-)
I know, that was intended... Arabic is my mother tongue... I forgot though that powerful riffs were my first musical language... Thank you for reminding me...
Dave's deadpan sense of humour is gas. The music sounds great, good playing and sounds by all of you guys! These videos are quite enjoyable to me seeing as I don't get into the studio as much as I'd like to. Cheers!
Ah man, I can't tell you how much I'm pumped for this album! You guys are so awesome, and everything sounds insane with your great attention to detail! Looking forward to seeing you in March, thanks for an awesome video!
This is almost cruel giving snippets of awesome riffs and rock supremacy. I cannot wait to hear how this album is gonna sound, just cannot bloody wait!
Hi Bea, iv just had a simple wiring mod to my strat i think you'll LOVE. i have the volume wired as a push pull so that when it's not engaged the strat works as normal, but when engaged, pos 2 is b/m in SERIES and 4 is n/m in series like a humbucker. 3 is all 3 pickups and 1 and 4 are the same. such a cheap mod, but SO BADASS. peace, can't wait to hear the album!
Bea, it's so inspiring to see how much work you have put into your career and how much it paid off, also with all the weight you have lost!!! As I'm the same as size as you were here on the video and I keep trying to lose weight but can't seem to do it because I can only manage to eat 1 meal per day
Rabea i got some good idea's from your jtc 20.pulled some of my stale patterns out of a rutt. im glad i came across this .thumbs up all around..Thanx, Amp (Tampa Florida)
I watch this everyday and have done for two months and still I love watching this and robs studio diarys. Awesome Part 1 to the album, when is the second half set for release??
I love that you also post video blogs of Dorje stuff Bea, gives more perspectives and ultimately more for me to watch >:3 thanks man =D hope you guys hit up Ireland at some point!
Awesome work guys, Bea I was wondering I've noticed that you have two relics of your signature one a darker shade like the one used in this video and another which is a lot lighter I wondered how you got the lighter effect I've asked around and no one seems to know so I thought I would ask direct. Thanks bro if its a secret Bea colour of awesomeness then I understand it you don't what to say.
my gf sometimes tells me i make funny faces while playing guitar, now i see bea doing amazing faces as well, hahah, sooo good, i guess we're all the same :)
since dorje are guys that care about their instruments and the quality of everything, i think it would be great to release at least a few individual instrument tracks
The riff from 7:20-7:43 is so powerful. While the rhythm is complex and interesting, the notes find a way to smoothly blend into one another like a tapestry. I really hope there's a significant amount of that particular riff without vocals in that song. I don't say that to offend Rob... I say it because that riff alone carries itself like a beautiful woman knocking the fuck out of someone.
Rabea get your self a resonator guitar and play with it. I've got three (two spider cones and one biscuit cone) and the spiders give a more mellow tone, and it's cool bluesy.
A thing I really miss in the Musicisum lessons is sweep picking p-p I love the blues licks and stuffies but I kinda want to evolve it into playing on metal backing tracks but everytime I try it just doesn't work x-x idk how to do anything like that .-.
Fucking fuck Bea. That sounds awesome. Really don't want to sound insincerely gushing but you are a serious player matey. Technical brilliance and more importantly awesome feel. Chapeau!
Chaps, I have a question, went you record with all the Eq and reverbs or whatever done on input, do you find later that the instruments dont always sound like they are in the same space....and how do you correct it?? Cheers
What telecaster is that? Is is a 52 reissue? I have seen that telecaster before and it sounds amazing!!! Please let me know what model of Fender Telecaster it is???
Dave seems like a cool guy. You'd have no idea how hard it is to find a bass player who isn't useless. I've even heard of cases where the guitarist records the bass parts "to make things easier".
You could not be more spot on!! For some reason in my part of the world...bass players are quirky weirdos who flake out on you when you need them the most...sorry for sounding negative...but it has proven to be the case all too often!
Yep. Had a couple of bassists that simply refused to improve. The stereotype is too real.
Gregory Lavallee
That's what punk bands are for... and even they don't stay stagnant if they've been doing it for years. Few bands manage to do the same thing time and time again for their whole career, unless they're Motorhead.
Just think about Steve Harris!
Matt Tuck from Bullet For My Valentine records all the rhythm guitar and bass for everything because he feels that if it's the same left hand playing, it's a lot tighter
Dave seems to have the perpetual look of a man who hasn't slept in 15 years.
Weeeeeeeeeed.
cgavin1 Coffee
Tapsik pf Ahh but the giveaway is the chronic bronchitis. Mr Massaad in particular has the gurgly wheeze of a serious stoner.
pretty sure they don't do drugs man
There's literally a hookah in one of their videos. Why would you just assume they don't do drugs?
Dave should have hes own signature coffee blend.
+WeirdRicky I'd buy it
Fresh Pots!
man that riff at 9:40..just awesome!!
Thanks man, definitely a favourite of mine!
***** tuning please :D that's Awesome !
Seed of Art it's drop C (C G C F A D)
there's nothing like a good tele going through a low to medium gain amp... punch and clarity.
Fucking riff rules, killer tone sounds like a fucking big nasty bird of prey goin in for the kill.
I'm just blown away by the bass tones you got for this.
You may very well not see this, but thought I'd say that you inspire me daily as a guitarist keep up the awesome work dude
SO EXCITED! Can't wait for the album.
That ML3 looks amazing. hot damn!
WOW yall have changed over the last 5ish years. Thanks youtube for recommending a trip down memory lane.
that upwards slide at the end of the lap steel part is so beautiful as a transition ❤❤
That Teisco behind you at around the 16:00 mark -- I've wanted one of those exact models for years! It's so hard to find a red one as well, most are blue... Or trashed. SO jealous!!
I absolutely love the riff at 14:05
Is that a song? That riff is nasty
@@AdamJonMusic all by Dorie, brutal sounding riff
So weird looking back on these videos, can’t believe I’ve been watching you for 8 years! Crazy how gear has changed over the years too.
13:10 Yes. Just yes, that riff is so awesome.
how the hell do you guys have all of that epic gear?
so jealous right now.
Saved up over the years Man, Dave and I have been collecting gear for a loooong time
+Rabea Massaad im from argentina and you cant imagine how thrilled i am with al that gear that i see on your videos and robs videos. Just for you to know here in my country instruments and all arround music gear is super expensive so you just dont see a guitar collection as your so often. +theo retical Save money, don't buy unnecessary things like cigs and alcohol.
+David Brachhmann You call those unnecessary?! How dare you!
Rob Chapman is a multi millionaire off the back of his guitar franchise
That slide part gave me chills..
As you were playing the lap steel and slip up to the 12 fret, I found myself just nodding along and saying "Yes!" out loud. Can't wait for the album and the gig in Brighton!

really cool watching you guys in the studio.I've loved recording for many years and this just appeals to me in several ways.
Cannot wait for the album, seriously.
Ah man, I can't tell you how much I'm pumped for this album! You guys are so awesome, and everything sounds insane with your great attention to detail! Looking forward to seeing you in March, thanks for an awesome video!

damn, dave actually had a really good studio, hope to see it return one day!!
What happened to it??
+McGangBang he had to move house and take it appart
Rabea's wearing a Karnivool shirt
Bea, it's so inspiring to see how much work you have put into your career and how much it paid off, also with all the weight you have lost!!! As I'm the same as size as you were here on the video and I keep trying to lose weight but can't seem to do it because I can only manage to eat 1 meal per day
DUDE, thats a great groove. Cant wait to hear your solo work on it.
Y'all are awesome musicians. Love your music and videos!
Loved the solo with the lapsteel! Perfect, really!
Rabea i got some good idea's from your jtc 20.pulled some of my stale patterns out of a rutt. im glad i came across this .thumbs up all around..Thanx, Amp (Tampa Florida)
Mmmmmm that slide part sound so good! Can't wait to hear it, tones sound massive! Good to see all your rhythm chops flying free :D
Haha the funny faces we all do when concentrating whilst we record. Sounding killer, very very excited for this album.
The suspense is killing me! It's like wating to find out who Cartmens dad was! Great tight playing Bea!
So excited for this album!!
This video is amazing. Thank you for sharing all these pro tips !!!
Ahh man this showed up in my feed again! I miss these studio vlogs.
I watch this everyday and have done for two months and still I love watching this and robs studio diarys. Awesome Part 1 to the album, when is the second half set for release??
Loving these Dore videos. Fascinating to see ur process guys!
Sorry - Dorje. Bloody autocorrect. Lol
OMFG sounds so nice cant wait to hear the whole album!!!
Tones sound nice. I do believe Dave was rocking a bit of tool inspired riffage at about 8:30 or so. Nice work. Album should be massive.
Yeah..the meet and potatoes! It's sounding great lads.
I have a Healey Sapphire as well and I really enjoy it - a great amp.
The gears you have in your studio is so sick.
Digging the jambi riff Dave does on the ml3
That lap steel bit was such a good idea!
love you guys....keep rocking!
I love that you also post video blogs of Dorje stuff Bea, gives more perspectives and ultimately more for me to watch >:3 thanks man =D
hope you guys hit up Ireland at some point!
Them there are some tasty riffs, genuinely looking forward to the album :)
Awesome work guys, Bea I was wondering I've noticed that you have two relics of your signature one a darker shade like the one used in this video and another which is a lot lighter I wondered how you got the lighter effect I've asked around and no one seems to know so I thought I would ask direct. my gf sometimes tells me i make funny faces while playing guitar, now i see bea doing amazing faces as well, hahah, sooo good, i guess we're all the same :)
This sounds very unique and awesome! And dude, i wanna play this strat soooo badly :D
Dave looks like he needs a break asap.
The lap steel is freaking awesome!
On Spotify, under Dorje, Karnivool and Twelve Foot Ninja are listed as related artists :)
I'm loving that jambi riff Dave plays from the band Tool
+Stefano Armestar It was Vicarious not Jambi
+Tate Brown thanks dude I'm not a bass player so all their bass riffs sound the same to me haha
since dorje are guys that care about their instruments and the quality of everything, i think it would be great to release at least a few individual instrument tracks
That bass is filthy and I'm on love with it
7:44 is just such an awesome riff, and the chords afterwards are huge! could you do a lesson on that some point in time?
Great vid Bea...looking forwards to the album. Living the dream!! Can I ask what pick-ups you have in the ML1 relic and the PRS Custom 24 please?
Love this stuff!
guitar porn right there
Steve Reynolds Fr
Bea were you a drummer in a past life? Your rhythm is just so on point.
Pretty sure he plays drums aside from playing guitar! And he knows odd time. He's a solid musicians, that's for sure (Y)
Hey Bea!
Will there be like documentary stile of creating the album after releasing? Like a hour long, which shows whole process
Style*
I fukn love this shit cant wait for the album !!
The riff from 7:20-7:43 is so powerful. While the rhythm is complex and interesting, the notes find a way to smoothly blend into one another like a tapestry. Rocking the Karnivool shirt! :D
that slide is immense
Love Dave's little 'Jambi Jam'. I personally am all for the addition of Dave as a second guitar player of Tool 😂
That slide guitar tone suits the track perfectly
Love these videos, very inspiring :)
would love a gear tour of the cove setup
15:30 - doesn't that red retro guitar with the 4 Badass pickups belong to Rory? looks killer! sick tones by the way
9:40 still waiting on that song with that riff, fuckin solid mate.
Digging it!
Will you guys ever be playing Newcastle/Durham/Sunderland areas?
Hey Rebea! Everything sounds awesome. Was wondering was mic(s) you all were using on the guitars? Thanks!
my favourite part is at 7:07 !! that soloing is insane!!
NY XL awesome....PRS....Tele - I'm in heaven!
Hey Bea - when r we going to be able to see YOUR prs. We've seen robs, now let's see yours.....
It was a Tobacco Burst Single-Cut
Artemis Bumwhistle LOVE Tobacco Burst - Have a Gibson custom shop Slash in that colour and it's well nice! Would Love PRS though. Especially a 10 top.
Who wouldn't?
Rabea get your self a resonator guitar and play with it. I've got three (two spider cones and one biscuit cone) and the spiders give a more mellow tone, and it's cool bluesy.
All that gear and here I am, with a Line 6 Micro Spider, trying to find a decent cab for my Laney head 😭
lorenjams orange 4 by 12!!!
Dave wasn't too happy when ya mentioned Rob being in Korea? Must of spent a fair bit of time on this already!
A thing I really miss in the Musicisum lessons is sweep picking p-p I love the blues licks and stuffies but I kinda want to evolve it into playing on metal backing tracks but everytime I try it just doesn't work x-x idk how to do anything like that .-.
Fucking rad Bea! Cant wait for this, any estimation on when we'll see the finished product? :)
Fucking fuck Bea. That sounds awesome. Really don't want to sound insincerely gushing but you are a serious player matey. Technical brilliance and more importantly awesome feel. Chapeau!
WHOA, what amp is that at the very bottom at around 5:08??? And when is the album coming out?
Hey Bea! What are you playing at 13:11 ? Its amazing!
Can we have a gear demo on the French coffee press?
Karnivool and Sikth - Hell yes man! :D
I enjoyed this video a lot m8
Chaps, I have a question, went you record with all the Eq and reverbs or whatever done on input, do you find later that the instruments dont always sound like they are in the same space....and how do you correct it?? Cheers
Good job! One does not simply keep a straight face when recording Guitars :P
Is it a regular thing in the UK to have your clothes washer in the kitchen next to your dish washer?
I can see big things for this band... 20 years ago
are some guitar player's lips connected to their fingers when they play?
What telecaster is that? Is is a 52 reissue? I have seen that telecaster before and it sounds amazing!!! Please let me know what model of Fender Telecaster it is???
He said in the video.
hey Bea!
what is your bridge pickup??
sound great!!!
