Jack gives Pete a lot of love, and deservedly so, but Jack is a damn fine musician himself. We are so lucky to have both on Andertons TV 🤩
Yes, but we did not need the guy in the middle that much.
Andertons are blessed to have so much talent on their channel!!!
Gotta say - thats the best 50 minutes of YT that I've watched all month - it was a masterclass !
Pete is a monster guitarist and he never really shows you everything he’s got in his bag of tricks. Love watching him play when he gets really creative like this.
The layering.... Dayum.. Each section sounds so clean and clear.
Edit: Admire Pete's humility 👊
I’ve noticed that guys like him and Tim Pierce are at such ease when they record. This is a grooved feel over top a strict metronome as well, making it more impressive.
Jack’s on the guitar channel. Good to see him on here too!👏🏾👏🏾
Yikes. I think we need Dave and Cici with 'how to record your guitar on a budget'.
Preach
YES!
This is a great idea!
Basically the setup i have. Focusrite Scarlett Solo + Cakewalk (One of the best free audio editing software} and a bunch of free plugins. Gets the job done just fine
My dude on the left in the hat (yeah, I'm lazy and should've made note of his name) I do believe we just became best friends!! Pete's playing is unparalleled and truly brilliant. I've just got halfway thru this when those beautiful words were uttered: "Are we making a record?" Play on playas!!!
Banter with Jack and Pete in the same video and some great tips and tones. Bloody awesome!
This vid... i know it is a sell-off for UD and Andertons... but what it showcases the best is how talented and "freehand" Danish Pete is. Respect mate! And worth watching till the very end! This jam at the end was EPIC!
Great episode, guys. I'm definitely going to make the jump to UA and Luna. Also really appreciate Pete's sentiments in the end. Good on you, mate.
Loved that - For a lot of us I suspect are lone musicians in the spare room, this shows how easy it can be (minus the Pete Magic!!) - Great video!
Pete actually does a great job detailing cars! 🚗
This is truly incredible! Pete, you are such a fantastic musician and I cannot thank you enough for sharing all of this amazing info, talent, and beautiful music with us! The added parts on the last take really set it off, gents! Amazing! Anderton's, just like us viewers, are so very lucky to have you guys as a part of this!
What a video, I'm left speachless. Such a treat to watch. More of this, please.
It is a pleasure to watch you work, Mr. Pete.
This Video hooked my like nothing else on this platform in the past year. Thank you so much for the work you are doing!
Great video! Pete is a one of a kind musician and I really enjoy his playing a lot!
I could watch this all day
Petewood Jack more like!
Man, that track was effortless magic. Hugely inspirational. Well done guys! 😎
Haha I don't know how I missed the Petewood Jack rhyme! Awesome.
That was beautiful guys. The timing for me having just started using this kind of recording gear is perfect and it has really inspired me so thanks you beautiful bar stewards, i love you! 🙏
Technology is such a fantastic thing, it’s insane what you could do with a massive budget. The difficulty for me is that I can’t justify this sort of thing for my hobbie level recording, perhaps once my kids are older!
As always, absolutely stunning playing and information, thank you all for your time and effort!
Sadly didn't understand a word , I'll stick to my tascam thank you
Heh, I was just in Andertons last weekend to try recording guitar into a UA Apollo. Very knowledgeable & friendly staff. Think I will watch this tonight! :-)
Great video, really enjoyed watching and listening to all the layers being built up. Very excited to hear more Andertones might be coming!
Tom Waterman is a legend. Still the same enthusiasm as a fledgling uni lecturer back in 2005/8
Bless you Mike! Hope all is well mate 🙂
That was bloody awesome guys!!! would love to see more of this...
What a great sound experience, thank you, guys!
A video that's both really useful and really beautiful! Need you guys playing another song together, soon!
Peter Honore man. So Inspirational
Great vid… great playing, great VIBES…nice to hear acoustic guitar and clean electric guitar tones for a minute…
I watch Jack's channel a lot. Hey, Jack. 🎹😃
This was a lovely watch
Phenomenal how the final performance sounded identical to "Andertones" composed songs.
I don't know if that is an artist thing, or an engineering thing.
But it certainly has its own identifiable "voice"
🔥🔥🔥Fantastic video guys!!!
Thank you so much for this video! I've been looking at upgrading from my Focusrite 4i4 to one of the UAD Apollo interfaces for a while.
Pete is a far better musician than he gives himself.
Fabulous, loved it.
Extremely enjoyable 50 mins.. class!
really cool video, great work lads
This is my vote to do another Andertones video! I'd love to see that again. Maybe tie in a bunch of DAW and recording tutorial videos either here or for UA?
Brilliant. More please.
That was awesome guys
Nice to see Jack join the guitar world:) Go check the Andertons Synth channel where Jack usually hangs out trust me it's worth your time! Jack is awesome🤟
wow thats one thick wall of sound!
That was a great video guys nice work 👍
This sounds fantastic
Loved it (as always) and it was very helpful to me. Keep it up guys!! Plus Pete's jam was awesome, wouldn't expect any less.
I love the Jack/Pete mashup :-) I play bits of guitar and keys so I love this stuff...
So Very Cool Thankyou for Sharing. Cheers
Now I want to try the Nashville tuning thing
I have a request to Mr. Tech Guy, as he magically appears to guitar channel: beginners pa for rehearsal room. What do we need, why, what to consider while upgrading, how big speakers for vocal etc.
Outstanding 👌🏾
Impressed with Pete's timing. Pocket springs to mind, out the head to the fingers +1 intrested to know if that's the first airing of piece. 👍🥃Respect to you fellas.
just great. inspiring... once I got lost in all the options, that are available...
So good!
Jack and Pete awesome content! I’d like to see a part 2 of this video with the tracks sequenced in a few alternative arrangements to showcase your approach to buildup and release going beyond only adding layers. Maybe you could knock together something using these tracks? Perhaps you could do some guitar work using an Akai MPC Live2 or similar? More please :-)
"A big sausage of noise". I don't know what to say about that one.
Also +1 for the Slim Chickens reference. Best chicken joint ever.
First time seeing Danish Pete go acoustic
This is exactly how I track every overdub on 2 separate tracks panned hard left and right. And I've learned not to copy. It takes away the repetitive sound that happens easily if your not careful
I'm late to this party but thanks for a fascinating video.
Yes please, lets see the Andertones back in the house
How’d I miss this video?! Been trying to figure out how a true pro layers guitars on an empty track.
Love the concept of the processing being done by the preamp. Definitely something to keep an eye on in future if I develop my studio further.
You can play with gadgets your whole life but one day you have to actually have to sit down and try to write a song! Once you've got your song - chords , warts , words 'n all then it's time to watch this video and slap it down. The Luna I have to say really looks like the way to go. Thanks for taking the time to explain the basics.
UA is by definition out of my budget, and I'm not the only one, I'm sure.
Great vid really enjoyed it credit card out, lets spend some money and sound like Pete! Totally confused no idea what to buy!
Awesome masterclass in DAW workflow, thank you Andertons & UA. Great gear for sure, but I would love to see a demo on when to use PAD/AIR settings. I have them on my Focusrite 4I4 but have never employed them, totally clueless 🙂.
Pad engages a db reduction, ie: when recording loud sources. Air engaged a different circuitry to ‘open up’ the signal. When I use the air setting, I notice a high-end boost.
@@nathanmallen Thank you :)
Worth mentioning as well, I believe the AIR setting is exclusive to Focusrite pres
"sausage of noise" my new favorite saying... hahaha!!
Damn Boyee! Top blokes likesey! I`m sure the Interface i`ve been gassing over that has Graham Coxan using it and demoing it at NAMM is by that cmpany! Gotta 12ax7 valve in it and is obviously aimed at guitaristtas! Whatever, this should have been longer!Shows what can be done if you just come into the modern era for the "good stuff"! Superb!
I heard Pete works a Moules Frites cart behind Anderton's when he's not shooting videos. I think it's true...
how u doing from across the pond asking u if you can make it more organized the items needed for a low priced recording home studio even the pc type and apps or\gear all please i listened to the\show over t many tims but not at all clear thk u kren
Great video for people familiar with DAWs, unfortunately I don't have a clue what was happening here.
Nice presentation. Maybe I can do this...after I sell my house, my car, and one of me kids to afford all of that UA hardware and software. But you can do it with far less expensive alternatives too.
I want to try Luna, but as an IT professional, I have a well-earned, deep-seated loathing for all things MacOS. At least the pedal software has a Windows port.
UAD makes amazing stuff. I love my Apollo Twin to death. I'd love to upgrade in the future. What ends up being the most prohibitively expensive part of music production/audio engineering for me is having to upgrade my mac every few years. I love Logic but it may be time to switch to a PC. The new mac studio is insane, but who's got $6-8k free for a computer right now?
Pete is Modern day kind of a guitar hero :)
Wow!!!
Way cool.
Will there ever be a Luna version for Windows? I really want to give it a shot, but there is no apple in my house except edible ones.
Lovers in a Dangerous Time...
I get the lack of latency in the high-end UA stuff, but the expense is considerable - and that's before shelling out for plugins. My last interface did die recently though, and I just got a Volt which I'm very happy with for recording. I'm wary of jumping DAWs when I know that they all just keep getting better; and I've learnt my one so well.
I guess I'm just saying I wish I could afford this stuff for myself at home!
I hear ya' man- we all wish we could afford it. That said- home recording is just like other hobbies I have in that we now have more budget options of higher quality than we've ever had before. That's what happens when everyone starts doing something- you get all kinds of new options at all different price points. Everyone I know now is buying recording gear and trying to learn to play- the market has been wide open since covid hit. Fishing experienced the same thing- the market grew by over 200% last year- you go to a lake now to fish and you have to wait an hour in line to even get your boat in the water. That caused several things- one is the new kayak market emerged- now ppl can get on the water and fish for a tiny fraction of what it used to cost. But- it also caused real bass boats to go up in price- way, way up. It also caused a huge explosion in new manufacturers and product lines and tons of innovation. There are fishing lures now that are battery powered and literally swim around like a live fish- all you do is toss it out there and wait for a bass to grab it. The equivalent of guitar that tunes and plays itself.
I've got no latency with my $99 focusrite and a MacBook pro in Logic. You don't need much.
@@ryangunwitch-black Yeah, you do have about 8ms latency. The Volt is around 4ms. The Apollo units have no latency, because the DSP packed into the interface.
But the price for this advantage is staggering - and that's before buying plugins.
You're right I don't need much.
I'm just disappointed that there is such a jump in price - $99 for a great, very low-latency interface; but thousands for a true latency-free interface.
@@Taurencowpew A lot of multifx units can, effectively, be used as an audio interface for far less than the Apollo stuff.
@@KeithMilner ... yeah, and NONE of them can do what the Apollo stuff does. I have an audio interface, and I'm well aware my multi-fx units can be used as interfaces too.
I was just lamenting that there wasn't a better priced option for those who understand Apollo isn't your standard interface.
I use reaper because I’m blind and it works better with my screen reader software. I’m assuming this will work with a Reaper as well?
Brilliant! I want to buy an Apollo now just to have the feeling of having the right gear just in case I ever get good enough to perform like that. 😅 What's the difference between the Thunderbolt and USB-C versions of the Apollo? Is it enough of an improvement to sacrifice potentially being able to use it on "lesser" machines?
USB is for Windows only I believe. Thunderbolt for Mac.
@@ntath Thunderbolt is just an interface; totally platform-agnostic. Not to mention that was designed by Intel. The data rate coming from a recording device is well under the ceiling for both standards, so I would prefer USB-C because its more common.
@@Smitty_Werbenjagermanjenson TB offers a PCI-E interface (in addition to USB) so in theory it doesn't suffer from USB packetisation and latency problems. The big question here is whether it makes a huge difference in this kind of application...
Pete man!!!!!
I can do the guitar parts. I can even plug everything in and switch it all on. But from that point onwards, everything looks like an Ayahuasca hallucination.
find someone that looks at you the way Jack looks at Pete
Can I play guitar and sing simultaneously on an Apollo Solo using the front and rear inputs?
UA should just pay you guys to do tutorials!
Great guys!!! But no drums at all 😭
If no programming drums, at least you guys could drop some drumLoop
17:16 Caution ⚠️ This video contains "Low Hanging Fruit" 😂❤🎸
Baja burrito!!
I'm new to all this electronic recording stuff. I'm still trying to figure out the IR thing. Lol 😟
I could use a clone !!! Let’s go :)
Step 1: Have a lifetimes worth of disposable income available
And give UA the password to your bank account.
Unfortunately this is so true
You know that’s right!!!!!😳
I totally get the sentiment and I’m sure you already know this but buying your gear piece by piece can make it manageable.
Interface
Decent mic (even an SM57)
Are enough to start recording ideas and making demos!
@@chasehaggard161 Yeah this is the way, also lets you get used to and learn each piece of equipment/software individually as you get them instead of buying the whole lot and having to learn 417 different aspects at once, getting overwhelmed, and quitting like so many people do
Guys there are no videos out there about pairing amps come on now. I’d like to see what sounds great together try this a Marshall jvm 205c with a fender twin reverb and let’s see what comes of it. Magical sounds are covered up because no one has tried these things
Anyone knows the model of electric piano please? Insane !!! 🔥
Wurlitzer
@@tomwaterman9687 thank you so much!🙏🏼
Oh my hehehehe that's some pricey kit. Well worth the money, I imagine, but as much beyond my budget as it is good as well
I have no clue about any of this shit lol I have never used a plug in or any of this stuff, I just play through amps. Good video though maybe I will construe it more when I actually try to use this technology.
Pete "yea I dunno if this works here"
These guys "Pete....were showing off our gear, this isn't going to 'your mom's got talent' "
Can you use the Volt with Luna?
LUNA requires an Apollo, the Volts come with Ableton Lite and you can defo enjoy making music with either!
Gibson. It sounds fuller, warmer, more harmonic. Bottom E sounds sharp on the Gibson though
