I'm looking forward to this module... the last time I flew this plane in a sim was in the early '90's on my Amiga... F/A-18 Interceptor. :-) Just a guess, but I think the graphics will be better than they were then!
I will definitely look in to that once my part 2 is uploaded. It might take a while though... finding sources that document this stuff in a clear format takes a while, but i think I might know some places to look.
Hi, quick question, in F-18 panel (or at least some models) in right console thre is this AMAC CONTROL panel which is not implemented in DCS f-18, do you know what is this and why it is not in DCS Panel? Thanks,
Luke, can you find out for me how the chances are that we are getting the F/A.18D double seater? i also would like to talk about the sound design of the various aircraft in DCS.
Luke, if you have a voice at ED or if you know Matt Wagner, please let them know about the desire for a D-version. many developers have done the single seater, but the beautiful double seater has been forgotten. Honestly, adding a model would not hurt the devs, would it. Systemswise the MFD's in the rear have the identical functions like the ones in the front. so i see not a single reason for not doing it. many reasons to do it: 1. adds optical feature (external view, adds to airbase scenery) 2. allows to fly in the wso-seat, looking over front pilot (really cool view), feels like being a passenger 3. co-op-ready (2 guys flying 1 aircraft) in multiplayer (how cool is that) 4. upgrades dcs (attracts even more users) Remember F-15 (ask Matt Wagner) from the Desert Storm Sim many years ago, that was the coolest thing. So, please accept my big PLEASE !! and help making it become real. Thanks for reading.
Sorry bud, I don't work at ED. I would love to see a D model as well but as far as I know it is not planned (maybe that will change). But do keep an eye on the Tomcat, that will have 2 seater multiplayer. Razbam was planning a strike eagle but are waiting on ED's new ground radar. But who knows what ED is planning! :-)
how much do you know about these guys? from what i know it's a russian company? but i also see a guy called matt wagner leading that thing somehow? can you clear things up for me?
Yes. Except there are only a handful of official campaigns. Also keep in mind this module is not released yet... but when it is, i'm sure a campaign will follow shortly after. Hope that helps
KY-58 should not be implemented as the operation of this is secret. I asked what it did and the AT's told me not to touch it. (I'm an AD) The ground power switches are used for troubleshooting and ground maintenance tasks. Switching these to A, B, or NORM allows certain systems to come online, such as the DDI's, the Radar systems, and mission computers. (the ddi's will not turn on unless ground power is applied with the ground power switches 1, 3, and 4 set to B and the BATT switch set to ON or the aircraft's generators come online.)
Eagle Dynamics have said they hope to get it to early access by the end of this year but that could change. At the very least you can expect a better idea of when toward that time.
Addxctxon ED will give more information on the Hornet after they released the Normandy 1944 map. The priority focus is on finishing DCS 2.5 right now, but I also read a post where they said that they are working hard on the Hornet atm
So I see that the video is to help prepare for the future module. I have heard of F/A-18 mods. Are there any available? Thank you for your efforts with the video, and please ignore the lack of courtesy from the critics.
Brian Salisbury yes there are some mods available, i'm not an expert on mods for DCS but these guys regularly post videos of them using the mods. forums.eagle.ru/showthread.php?t=182265 You could get a forum account and ask them about the mods or go to their website which is in their signature. Glad you enjoyed it! And I'm fine with constructive criticism. Since Normandy came out we are now due for some hornet news in the next few weeks!
The only thing I would say to that is that BMS isn't compatible with VR... and VR changes everything when it comes to playing in sims DCS does it very well currently :D. So currently DCS is the only way im going to get to fly an F-16 in VR.
You really just have to adopt a plane in DCS. It is better if you just pick an aircraft, learn it, and train yourself in its flight characteristics. That way you will know what you are doing in a dog fight.
whoa whoa ! shit tons of question marks orbiting my head 1)is this official !? 2)when is the estimated release date 3)how do we handle 2 seated jet like super Hornet
1) yes this is an official upcoming module 2) Eagle Dynamics doesn't give out release dates but they said they are hopeful of an open access (beta) this year. (So mabye a Christmas present) 3)This is the C model so it is single seat only.
The Anti G valve doesn't keep the O2 system "operating under G" since you have a NATOPs according to your comments you can look it up...should be under "life support" since it is the hookup for the G-suit...LOL
It's on the O2 panel based on the system that feeds it and the O2. The system provides bleed air stepped down to the anti G system as well as providing bleed air (more complicated than I'm telling you" to OBOGs after cooling it down and stepping the pressure down for the mask. Once you lose the engines you lose O2 (still have a backup) but O2 becomes a backseat issue since the motors aren't turning...unless of course it is a bleed air issue and that may be a bigger deal than having no O2 as well :(
Actually no, a bunch more info has come by way of the forums. It has been confirmed we are getting a Lot 20 C model with the ATFLIR pod, JHMCS, and with the OFP 13C software suite. I believe this means we will get the AN/APG-73 Radar as well.
It's French actually :) It's named after the French hydraulic engineer who invented the tube. His name was Henri Pitot. The pitot tube is used as part of the Pitot-Static system in aircraft, which is used for Airspeed, Altitude, and Vertical Speed, in case you didn't know. The pitot tube itself is used as part of the airspeed indicator only. An airspeed indicator simply takes ram air from the pitot tube and measures it against the static air around the aircraft to give you the airspeed.
Sure some of the terrain graphics aren't great, but you can't say that the Viper graphics aren't good. The complexity of the systems is unmatched in any other simulator. Not to mention the dynamic campaign and multiplayer.
Dalton, no need to insult his favorite sim. Cole, BMS has its advantages, but if by systems you mean avionics, then no. I don't think BMS is better when it comes to avionics or FM. (think A-10 or Viggen)
Nice, but try to take a nap before doing more videos like this one so you can pretend to be a little more alive while you are narrating your explanation. :)
When i first wrote it wasn´t intended at all to be insulting and didn´t saw my comment as rude, but now that i see it again i see it was poorly writen and came out the wrong way. My sincere apollogie, i liked the video, really, was trying to give a constructive criticism, but it came out way wrong. My mistake and, again, i apologise for it.
Really looking forward to this. Thanks for the video!
It's been a year and I feel we're still no closure to the module.
Looking forward to part 2! :)
Already up!
Great video. Thank's for making it. I learned a lot.
Sure thing!
I'm looking forward to this module... the last time I flew this plane in a sim was in the early '90's on my Amiga... F/A-18 Interceptor. :-) Just a guess, but I think the graphics will be better than they were then!
Very nice video. can you make a "walk around" video? showing the sensors, antennas and etc?
I will definitely look in to that once my part 2 is uploaded. It might take a while though... finding sources that document this stuff in a clear format takes a while, but i think I might know some places to look.
Hi,
quick question, in F-18 panel (or at least some models) in right console thre is this AMAC CONTROL panel which is not implemented in DCS f-18, do you know what is this and why it is not in DCS Panel? Thanks,
landing gear handle is rotated to emergency extend , in a normal condition it's vertical like a wheel.
can we have the double seater D please. Please.
Do you think this will be put into early access before the f-14?
I wish they would update the F-15 to be clickable.
I think Razbam is planning on making a full F-15E module.
Yeah but I meant the F-15C. In my opinion it has more... soul, then the F-15E
F15C also performs better, despite the airframe being the same.
YES PLEASE! that's my favorite plane ever.
Well, Belsimtek (If I remember correctly) said that they might do a full F-15C, it's not their priority tho
I saw that on ED's forum.
Luke, can you find out for me how the chances are that we are getting the F/A.18D double seater?
i also would like to talk about the sound design of the various aircraft in DCS.
pica iolo the D model is not planned.
But the upcoming Tomcat should fulfill the need for a combat capable 2 seater jet.
Luke, if you have a voice at ED or if you know Matt Wagner, please let them know about the desire for a D-version.

+Luke Swann Awesome... I hope they do. thanks.
could you put your sources in to the description if they are public? would be nice to read it :)
Sure!
great, thanks a lot!

Yes, the narrator can put you to sleep or hypnotize you.
When is it planed to be released to buy?
Eagle Dynamics have said they hope to get it to early access by the end of this year but that could change. At the very least you can expect a better idea of when toward that time.
Good video! Nice job.
"Set to have an early access release in twenty-sixteen." Hello from Feb 2017......umm, two more weeks I guess.
Ryan Fox lol yes....
has it been released yet ?
Addxctxon ED will give more information on the Hornet after they released the Normandy 1944 map. The priority focus is on finishing DCS 2.5 right now, but I also read a post where they said that they are working hard on the Hornet atm
E3 REVEAL. BABY
It’s out for early access right now!! 20 bucks off
When did they add the f18
They haven't yet. It's in development. ED said they are hopeful for releasing it as early access later this year.
So I see that the video is to help prepare for the future module. I have heard of F/A-18 mods. Are there any available? Thank you for your efforts with the video, and please ignore the lack of courtesy from the critics.

Since Normandy came out we are now due for some hornet news in the next few weeks!
Thanks, yeah I bought Normandy and the P-51 to hold me over until the F-18 comes out.
will this be a clickable cockpit? sorry if you covered it and I missed it!
Yes. All new modules from here on out are supposed to have clickable cockpits
+Luke Swann okay thanks for reacting!
dud have you slept in the last year? you sound like you've been subjected to awake torture
Veeeery gooood intro!
Thx
I wish it was an F-16 as well!!
One day i'm sure there will be one, what would be great is if someone could somehow use the falcon bms model and import it updated into dcs
True!!!
True!
+Partly Cloudy ya I've wondered that too...
The only thing I would say to that is that BMS isn't compatible with VR... and VR changes everything when it comes to playing in sims DCS does it very well currently :D. So currently DCS is the only way im going to get to fly an F-16 in VR.
Why the vote-downs? I don´t get it:
Great video…your voice puts me asleep though haha.
You really just have to adopt a plane in DCS. It is better if you just pick an aircraft, learn it, and train yourself in its flight characteristics. That way you will know what you are doing in a dog fight.
DogSpit that's why I kinda wanted to buy the F5e or maybe the Mirage, but I figured I would be better off waiting a while for the Hornet.
John Moore the SU-27 is awesome...
DogSpit I've got FC3, but I'm looking for a proper module that has an entire functional cockpit
John Moore that is always nice.
wow this narrator could talk himself to sleep.
sometimes i do
Meh.. i hoped this was released, and wanted to see how it is done inside, how startup looks like etc. but.. alas..
:(
Knowing ED, maybe around this time next year. :D
Well you're optimistic
Sad that more than a year after this video was made, ED has shown a single screen shot of the hornet...
Christopher Sampson except they have,
forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=3128524&postcount=2316
The Hornet will be at E3 in two weeks.
Yea literally two weeks this time haha. Hoping Thrustmaster releases an F/A-18C HOTAS
Christopher Sampson me too,
Although it will probably be a replacement stick for the warthog base.
omg dude....your voice is making me sleepy. but the detail of information is great.
whoa whoa !
shit tons of question marks orbiting my head

I see...
thanks for spending your time to reply me
Sure thing! And don't worry, I'm sure the wait will be worth it.
tomcat when
Do you mean when to release? Or if i will do a video?
The video, please
TheZabbiemaster I need to do some reading first, but I'll see if it's feasible.
I was planning on ordering a book on the tomcat so maybe.
Wow.
The Anti G valve doesn't keep the O2 system "operating under G" since you have a NATOPs according to your comments you can look it up...should be under "life support" since it is the hookup for the G-suit...LOL
Ah ok thanks. I was confused since it was on the oxygen panel.
It's on the O2 panel based on the system that feeds it and the O2. 4 months on and nothing, not even a whisper from ED on its progress
Actually no, a bunch more info has come by way of the forums.

Pitot is pronounced "Pee-Toe".
Ok thanks. Gotta love the English language and the random silent letters.
It's French actually :) It's named after the French hydraulic engineer who invented the tube. His name was Henri Pitot. An airspeed indicator simply takes ram air from the pitot tube and measures it against the static air around the aircraft to give you the airspeed.
That makes more sense. And ya i can see why it would be important to keep ice out of that tube lol.
I find your profile picture offensive
lel
For God sake do not use Paint application to show images in the video. Why do we need to see those tool panels on top all the time?
Istvan Filler because I wanted to make marks on the pictures, and because most people don't have OCD (kidding)
All right, all right. I overreacted a bit :) Thanks for the vid.
Istvan Filler sure thing,
If I had another way of doing it I would, paint was just the first thing that popped into my head
Be a man, Play BMS
BMS is great, just don't think i want to fly a hornet that has the avionics of the f-16 instead.
Apparently you haven't flown any recent updates then. Much better than anything else available.
Obviously you haven't tried any of the recent iterations recently. It is much better than any of the other offerings currently available.
Sure some of the terrain graphics aren't great, but you can't say that the Viper graphics aren't good. The complexity of the systems is unmatched in any other simulator. Not to mention the dynamic campaign and multiplayer.

I think It bothered me more than the author. :)
What a waste, should have gone straight to the F/A 18E, would love to see some AIM-9Xs.
pretty sure the C model can use them
Are they in the game though? It would be nice to utilise the HMD that the Super Hornet has.
HMD is confirmed forums.eagle.ru/showpost.php?p=2871762&postcount=42
9x's confirmed also
