Been shooting an Arsenal Strike One for over a month. Having put a few hundred rounds through it at a range of 15 to 25 metres, I can only praise its accuracy (despite it was the break-in time). Most of the rounds went right in the black. The trigger could have had a shorter pull, but certainly this will partly be off agenda as tear and wear proceeds. The rail running across the full length of the gun frame adds to accuracy. Above all, I was amazed to see how much care and attention the Arsenal team pay to AF owners. The reply to my request for spare parts came immediately. The lavish parcel arrived shortly afterwards. Thanks heaps, Arsenal ! Your loyal customer.
Hi, everyone and thanks to those who made this good video, and brought it up to me. I love fire arms. I live in a country where only criminals can own and use them. Those who live in other countries where responsible people can own these things, should have and use this fact as something truly sacred. ❤ ( Sorry for this English )
GunsNBudder He went to Dartmouth and got a degree in Music in '51 and went right into TV where he worked in childrens programing his entire life... he was a minister, and a vegetarian for ethical reasons... Never served a day in the military, nor do I think he was the type of person who would wish too, as he didn't eat meat because "it had a mother". I actually read his biography a few years ago... he was a pretty straight forward guy, what you saw on TV about summed him up. I always wondered where that military service rumor started... that and the one about his arms being covered in tattoos. Oh well, theres a sucker born every minute i guess... Now Captain Kangaroo served in the Marines in WW2.... but he didn't join until '45 and never saw combat, actually I don't think he ever left the US.
Yep, not very subjective. Great slow mo footage. But if you really want to prove your point, put all pistols in a Ransom rest, then measure the angle after recoil. The Ransom rest doesn't know which pistol is supposed to win and will resist recoil the same for each pistol. Plus, the great thing is that it will preserve the recoil angle after the shot for much more precise recoil angle measurement.
Recoil characteristics can be adjusted to a degree by changing recoil springs. Of course, once you do that, you run the risk of the pistol not running properly with certain types of ammunition. There is also the risk of an oversprung slide driving the muzzle low as it returns to battery. The Strike-One is the only pistol tested in the video that we don't really have a good sample-size of reliability data on.
Seems to me the Steyr M9A1 has very similar shape with better ergonomics for half the price. Also, Steyr is a reputable arms maker known for quality weapons. There is also a compact version of the Steyr in other calibers and there are holsters and accessories available. The Steyr's barrel and frame also sit very low and cause a lower center of gravity for the gun. No surprise they didn't use it as one of their comparison guns. It would probably sell a lot of Steyrs.
Agreed. I'm dying to get my hands on one. And yeah, this could've been more scientific, but I'll take it for now. By the way, the first pistol was a Glock 17.
I completely agree with Armed Defender Academy. I would like to see the same demo with a hi inline thumbs grip with locked arms. (isosceles triangle platform)
It will be on sale soon. On the Arsenal website they list the importers. They will probably not do as well as everyone is thinking though. Due to the price of this firearm it will not be as popular as Glock or the M&P.
+frankgon4 I have heard some fairly expensive msrp (Around $800-$900). When I emailed one of the importers stating, "I am excited to see the firearm arriving. I hope it is priced competitively with Glock and the s&w M&P. Otherwise it will not be a big player". All I got was an email speaking about the specs and how awesome the strike one will be. Basically they were saying the strike one will be much more expensive than Glock. People hate hearing it, but the only way to be big in the handgun world, is to completely beat Glock. No one has done that. And if the strike one is anything over $150 more than Glock, they will have failed as well.
This isn't a very controlled test at all. Put it in a rest or vice of some kind and it won't be biased. Also, the results weren't all that impressive or different from the rest of the pistols, especially considering the likelihood of the test being biased. Good idea in theory but not sure if it's worth all the extra coin.
Not that I don't appreciate the design of this pistol, but this test needs to be done in a Ransom pistol rest to be accurate and unbiased. Hello! C'mon guys!
It would have helped if the shooter had a proper grip. You can clearly see support hand thumb placement through the trigger well, and it's not at all optimal for recoil mitigation. Using something like a Ransom rest would make this much more credible.
Nice video. I Didn't understand the graphics, though. One line goes through bore axis. The other one that is parallel to the first one just touches index finger of the shooter. I don't understand what the distance between those lines has to do with felt recoil. While the slide is going back it pushes your hand on the spring axis. When it finally bottoms out it pushes your hand on the gun's center of mass. There is absolutely no relation with bore axis. Am I missing something here?
You need to control for a lot more variables. 1. Obviously the recoil impulse is going to be dependent on ΔT. _(this is why I never understood the trend of lightening slides, unless your goal is to ‘reset’ the gun as fast as possible. - a Glock 18 cycles at 1200 rpm as it is, or .05 splits)_
can you please post ballistic data of the loads used in the comparison? grains of powder, type of powder, bullet weight etc. Your video didn't quite "show beyond question". I'm also interested to know if all of the other guns used were stock configuration. Do you have that data?
Even as lightweight as the featured CZ75 model is on this video, I am not too surprised by its performance, being a Browning Hi-Power design where the palm sits high on the weapon, and the slide rails are inside the frame, the design has a bit of muzzle compensation. (most modern variants have heavier parts [the spring rod on that gun is thinner than most models]. and may or may not have better performance.) I am impressed by the Strike One barrel design, but I think if they included the slide feature that the CZ has, they can stabilize the weapon even further.
a few handguns have the slide rails inside the frame instead of the other way around. but besides that, it is obvious that the barrel-tilt reduction that the Strike One features is far more effective. I am a fan of handguns that have the palm sit high on the grip, and I think this handgun will defiantly work for me.
still sticking with my ppq. there are a lot of cool pistols I looked at like this or the m9a1, but they don't have a south paw slide release. Handist bastards!
Change how any of those handguns are held and you will reduce the muzzle climb of any one of those handguns dramatically. The firing grip in this video seemed a little "lazy". Maybe that was the point, idk.
not everyones favorite caliber is 9mm. give me that kind of recoil in a .45 and were talking. Also that gun is pretty big to cc for most ppl so id like to see what kind of recoil their compact model has.
How does this show nothing? the grip was exactly the same on every firearm. I agree it's a little more subjective than a rest platform, but the physics of the gun cannot be denied.
This test is not valid because this man is not a dynamometric machine. Did he hold with the same strength all the pistol? No, sure. the only accettable data is the cycling time....however really good maded pistol
Should have been put into ransom rests this comparison is inherently flawed. I can here it now "hold the glock real loose *bang* alright lets get *our* gun hold that shit so tight you flex the plastic!"
Agreed, this video is a complete waste. It proves nothing, I could make the same video and control it any way I wanted. The ASO may be a good weapon but honestly its nothing new.
I was thinking the same thing. They need to put them in the Ransom rests. I don't even know why all the other big pistol manufacturer's aren't doing this same low bore design. A Sig 226 is a proven design, but the bore axis is so far up there it's ridiculous. The same goes for the rest of them. It's OLD technology! Start putting R and D into new stuff!!!
Why is the shooter's arm angled UP, and then gun pointing straight? Of course the gun will tilt up. Try shooting with your arm straight, in parallel to the barrel. Newton physics here. Bullet fires forward, it pushes the gun back. And when your arm is bent like that, then gun will angle up upon firing. I like low bore axis of this gun, but this test exaggerates the real life recoil effects.
That's not necessarily true. Slightly bending your elbows reduces recoil and some of the muzzle flip since the bend of the arms absorbs the shockwave. Muzzle flip has less to do with the position of the arms and more to do with the wrist. Not locking your wrist will result in what you see in this video.
John Holbrook I think he means in terms of low bore access and cycle rate, however you are right about the caliber not being equal. I think in general it is great round though if it became or prevalent and pricing went down Id be all over the p90!
tomcap1984 Nothing is wrong with either of the caliber, but they are comparing the handgun to handguns of the same caliber. Of course a .22 caliber handgun will have less recoil than a 9x19 handgun.
Only b'coz Strike one is 9mm pistol. And all pistols in test are 9mm. Simple isn't? The question is, if your know they are same caliber, and Five-seveN is diffirent, why asking then?
Did you run multiple tests for each pistol. If so you could run an analysis of variance and determine which pistol has less muzzle climb. Without real, and very straightforward , statistical analysis this test does not mean much.
This is not only a very subjective video at best...but I've noticed a tendency for some guns compared to be much lighter, compact versions of full sized guns (like the PX4 compact) not to mention that quite a few designs with similar low bores like the Steyr M and the FNS 9 were completely left out in any form. Overall; even if you can believe that Arsenal Firearms would PAY someone to make a video firing guns would do so in an objective way (instead of using an actual bench or some form of measurable system that can't be faked with bare hands akin to Vacuum Cleaner Salesman techniques) you simply can't compare a compact version of ___ and a full sized ___ and act like it's an apples to apples comparison.
I'm calling bullshit on the Caracal F recoil angle figure, as Scotty said " "Ye cannae change the laws o' physics" Capt'n ". Are you sayin' Mr Bubbits can't design a better Glock?. Nevertheless good video, music track was peachy, interesting weapon...
bruh a correct grip on the pistol would help...dude's getting a shit ton of recoil from 9mm that shouldn't be there...better grip would prolly help the cycle time too
Sorry, but the angles provided are way too easy to falsify. Also, if a platform cycles faster by a fraction of a second, this does very, very little in a gun fight. Lets see you guys throw it in a bucket of water, freeze it, thaw it out, throw it in the mud, drag it behind a truck, bury it underground for 2 years, and then fire 500 rounds nonstop.
AJ JONES Anyone's Generation 3 or before Glock 9mm. All of the examples I provided are here on UA-cam. Just type in 'Glock Torture Tests' and you'll see what I mean. Cheers~
lets grab a buttload of hammerfire pistol with high bore axis and pin it against our striker fire low bore axis pistol. Seriously, what were they thinking? of course the results will be exaggerated. They should have brought in direct competitors like the Walther PPQ, M&P 9 and the dozens out there to truly show how much of a difference there is in what they're claiming.
The only MSRP I could find was the double barrel 45 @ 4400.00 , nice video but it really doesn't tell anything, You would have to use a bench rest with a sensor at the top of the butt cheek to determine force on the users hand, also other variables need to be revealed, slide friction ,spring pressure, and they didn't touch on accuracy, I like the "looks" of the weapon but no real data for the serious enthusiast .
The shooter here has a lot of muzzle flip up imo. For comparison, here's slow motion footage of Larry Vickers shooting a Glock: ua-cam.com/video/ubkVfb-fgfQ/v-deo.html
Yes, I am retarded. I usually shoot a Glock Twenty Two. Twenty Three also. Ninteen for practice. My favorite is a Sig Two Hundred Twenty Nine, in Forty caliber. I also like the Two Hundred Twenty Six.
Why not have a rest or something that can repeatedly and consistently show the flip. This shows nothing. And it's hard to take your "research" seriously when you label the Beretta "90 Two"...
Cool...But...It proves nothing. Don't get me wrong, I'm JONESING for this pistol to get ATF approval finally, as both my wife and I want one badly!! But for this to be anything but subjective, it needs to be done from a calibrated mechanical rest. Hell, at least have the shooter use a proper grip. Due to the ergonomics of the Strike 1, I still think it will shoe a lower muzzle rise. BTB, Why no Glock in the test?
I really like the ideas behind this pistol. But it would be nice to see a recognized and unaffiliated name in the industry do this kind of recoil test. If costa or haley worked the pistols the results would hold a lot more validity. Also, it would be great if someone more familiar with english and anglo-saxon culture would write the advertising text. As it stands it reads like a stereotype - epic run on sentences, overly verbose claims, and a cringe worthy amount of self aggrandizing.
bighunterman77 you got a glock 22? If you ever want some target rounds that recoil even less than a 9mm, try the corbon 165gr fmj loaded at 850 fps. They feel like your shooting a .380 out of a large frame gun. You can check them out on the corbon website. They are for matches. But they are really fun to shoot. They are little known by .40 lite they won't be much for defense being that they are only about 250 foot-pounds of energy (while most .40 are 400fpe and above) but dam they literally feel like your shooting a .380 out of a .40 cal lol
I gotta make a trip into the big city one day haha...need to go to academy or bass pro and look around...I'm currently shooting ole Winchester white box...all my wally worl has on hand haha
Nicely produced video, but as others have suggested, proves nothing. None of the modern 9mm combat pistols are inherently difficult to shoot or recoil excessively. You'll have to try another test, something more scientific, and take Fred Rogers and his cardigan sweater out of the equation. ;)

I love how you compared a full frame to compacts
This work of art has aged beautifully.
I didn't know Mr. Rogers was a shooter!!
well hello neighbor
He actually was a bad ass sniper in the Vietnam war!
He was a combat vet marine.
GunsNBudder He went to Dartmouth and got a degree in Music in '51 and went right into TV where he worked in childrens programing his entire life... he was a minister, and a vegetarian for ethical reasons... Already searched all the possible places here in the USA and this pistol has not for sale here yet. 9/20/2014. WTF.
It will be on sale soon. On the Arsenal website they list the importers. They will probably not do as well as everyone is thinking though. Due to the price of this firearm it will not be as popular as Glock or the M&P.
The only place that is going to have it is a mom and pop gun store in Oklahoma.

I have not heard anything on price point??
+frankgon4
I have heard some fairly expensive msrp (Around $800-$900). When I emailed one of the importers stating, "I am excited to see the firearm arriving. His sweater reminds me of Mr. Rogers, so when I watch this I imagine Mr. Rogers shooting all of these guns.

How would you demonstrate muzzle flip in a vice?
When's your video debuting?
Make your choice : CZ75B
BIG RESPECT
The music is amazing
How come thist pistol hasn't been released yet when they said it was going to be released during the 2013 SHOT Show, and what is the MSRP ?
Not that I don't appreciate the design of this pistol, but this test needs to be done in a Ransom pistol rest to be accurate and unbiased. Hello! C'mon guys!
Can you calculate how much milliseconds to pull the trigger?
do a comparison against the king. STEYR M9-A1
It would have helped if the shooter had a proper grip. You can clearly see support hand thumb placement through the trigger well, and it's not at all optimal for recoil mitigation. Using something like a Ransom rest would make this much more credible.
@Arsenal Firearms would a tungsten guide rod lesson that more?
The strike one uses a modified browning system. The CZ series is directly based off of the Browning high power.
yes, but what about accuracy?
Impressive!
Why so many berretta's & not a single ZC
Когда он пойдет в серию? Кто знает?
Nice video. I Didn't understand the graphics, though. One line goes through bore axis. The other one that is parallel to the first one just touches index finger of the shooter. When it finally bottoms out it pushes your hand on the gun's center of mass. There is absolutely no relation with bore axis. Am I missing something here?
Using a correct grip would drastically change the recoil angle and slide cycle times
is a human going to be able to detect the difference between .046ms and .052ms?
You need to control for a lot more variables.
1. Obviously the recoil impulse is going to be dependent on ΔT.
_(this is why I never understood the trend of lightening slides, unless your goal is to ‘reset’ the gun as fast as possible. - a Glock 18 cycles at 1200 rpm as it is, or .05 splits)_
why you don't upload videos of miniature arsenal? plz do so. it would be fun to watch miniature guns firing special ammo.
can you please post ballistic data of the loads used in the comparison? grains of powder, type of powder, bullet weight etc.
Your video didn't quite "show beyond question". I'm also interested to know if all of the other guns used were stock configuration. Do you have that data?
do you have a jira for this issue?
Hmmmmm....strange that they didn't show the CZ75B which is known for its low bore axis. Wonder why that was?
А музыка откуда?
Song name?
now when can we buy one?
cool music.
Was that Fred Rogers??
The Tanfoglio is basically a polymer framed CZ-75
Hk P7?
Even as lightweight as the featured CZ75 model is on this video, I am not too surprised by its performance, being a Browning Hi-Power design where the palm sits high on the weapon, and the slide rails are inside the frame, the design has a bit of muzzle compensation.

I didn't see a CZ in this video, which is sad because that is exactly what I was looking forward to.
The Tangfoglio project is a variant of the CZ
Jeeze he let's that 9mm recoil.
still sticking with my ppq. there are a lot of cool pistols I looked at like this or the m9a1, but they don't have a south paw slide release. Handist bastards!
Los han disparado esta arma, dicen que es la mejor pistola que han disparado, y tienen muy buena presición
Change how any of those handguns are held and you will reduce the muzzle climb of any one of those handguns dramatically. The firing grip in this video seemed a little "lazy". Maybe that was the point, idk.
defenetly using an easy reload round on the last one, just look at the soft cycle, compered to the carcal
not everyones favorite caliber is 9mm. give me that kind of recoil in a .45 and were talking. Also that gun is pretty big to cc for most ppl so id like to see what kind of recoil their compact model has.
j'aime mon strike one ❤
It is very obvious the shooter of the strike one pistol has a much more aggressive grip on it. Which would obviously mean less muzzle flip and recoil
Have Jerry Miculek shoot the next ones.
Jerry ain't come to defend you if things go wrong.
that's a USP?
no. its a p2000 or a p2000sk. hilarious i actually laughed when i saw this
I wonder if the pistols were 9x19 they would cycle faster, as it cuts down on a few millimeters.
How does this show nothing? the grip was exactly the same on every firearm. I agree it's a little more subjective than a rest platform, but the physics of the gun cannot be denied.
i think the strizh need that V ports like the "C" model glocks.
just me perhaps
Sorry, that IS actually called a Beretta "90two". Its basically a 92 with hot-rod looks and a much sillier name.

Why not compare it with a FN Five-SeveN Tactical??????
Because 5.7=/= 9x19. Plus 5.7x28 is just an overhyped .22 magnum with a point.
John Holbrook I think he means in terms of low bore access and cycle rate, however you are right about the caliber not being equal. I think in general it is great round though if it became or prevalent and pricing went down Id be all over the p90!
GimliTehDwarf Exact that I meant to! And fully understand that is not the same caliber! Myself am a user of both calibers!
tomcap1984 Nothing is wrong with either of the caliber, but they are comparing the handgun to handguns of the same caliber. Of course a .22 caliber handgun will have less recoil than a 9x19 handgun.

The HK "USP" is really a P2000, and the Beretta Model 98FS?!?! REALLY?!?!?!?!?
Beretta 98 uses the 9x21mm round. Look it up.
If you don't know weapons shut up and not talk
Did you run multiple tests for each pistol. If so you could run an analysis of variance and determine which pistol has less muzzle climb. Without real, and very straightforward , statistical analysis this test does not mean much.
I am still excited about this pistol despite this video being really quite horrible.
cool vid in any case, even if the shooter is wobbly-arming it.
it is a pity that CZ is not there
Very nice ... Glock owner
Those nines are nice but Nothing beats a 1911 .45
Oh yeah go up against the Alien Laugo next
Laugo "borrowed" the idea from the strike one concept
can I put one more @like@ ?
This is not only a very subjective video at best...but I've noticed a tendency for some guns compared to be much lighter, compact versions of full sized guns (like the PX4 compact) not to mention that quite a few designs with similar low bores like the Steyr M and the FNS 9 were completely left out in any form.

3:11
it kicks like a .22 !!!!!
Glock17 & M&P Pro had a baby..?
What? All of them are as far as i see
I'm calling bullshit on the Caracal F recoil angle figure, as Scotty said " "Ye cannae change the laws o' physics" Capt'n ". Are you sayin' Mr Bubbits can't design a better Glock?.
Nevertheless good video, music track was peachy, interesting weapon...
No 10mm Auto, NO Strike One (this would be for me one key reason to buy it)! By the way, try the Alien pistol from Laugo Arms... goodbye Strike One...
bruh a correct grip on the pistol would help...dude's getting a shit ton of recoil from 9mm that shouldn't be there...better grip would prolly help the cycle time too
Yeah, I realized that after 3 people pointed it out to me....and I reiterate...D'oh!!!...(grin)
That's not a USP, it's a P2000
Sorry, but the angles provided are way too easy to falsify. Also, if a platform cycles faster by a fraction of a second, this does very, very little in a gun fight. Lets see you guys throw it in a bucket of water, freeze it, thaw it out, throw it in the mud, drag it behind a truck, bury it underground for 2 years, and then fire 500 rounds nonstop.
AJ JONES Anyone's Generation 3 or before Glock 9mm. All of the examples I provided are here on UA-cam. Just type in 'Glock Torture Tests' and you'll see what I mean.
Cheers~

dude 9mm recoil is not that much
glock 17 was the first gun they tested
The only MSRP I could find was the double barrel 45 @ 4400.00 , nice video but it really doesn't tell anything, You would have to use a bench rest with a sensor at the top of the butt cheek to determine force on the users hand, also other variables need to be revealed, slide friction ,spring pressure, and they didn't touch on accuracy, I like the "looks" of the weapon but no real data for the serious enthusiast .
yupp
lol I was thinking the same thing. I'd like to see this same test by a third party.
The shooter here has a lot of muzzle flip up imo. For comparison, here's slow motion footage of Larry Vickers shooting a Glock: ua-cam.com/video/ubkVfb-fgfQ/v-deo.html

frigging gun names are wrong
Cool...But...It proves nothing. Don't get me wrong, I'm JONESING for this pistol to get ATF approval finally, as both my wife and I want one badly!! But for this to be anything but subjective, it needs to be done from a calibrated mechanical rest. Hell, at least have the shooter use a proper grip. Due to the ergonomics of the Strike 1, I still think it will shoe a lower muzzle rise. BTB, Why no Glock in the test?
realy ?!?!!?!?!!?
I really like the ideas behind this pistol. But it would be nice to see a recognized and unaffiliated name in the industry do this kind of recoil test. If costa or haley worked the pistols the results would hold a lot more validity.
Also, it would be great if someone more familiar with english and anglo-saxon culture would write the advertising text. As it stands it reads like a stereotype - epic run on sentences, overly verbose claims, and a cringe worthy amount of self aggrandizing.
I bet you I can still out shoot any strike one competitor with my glock 22, regardless of muzzle flip.
+Vui Tran that would be a true test...ole .40 is jumpy...my hand is actually tired after shooting three full mags out of mine with a actual tight grip
bighunterman77 you got a glock 22?
This guy doesn't even grip the gun with right way.. ofc the angles will be 17+
Nicely produced video, but as others have suggested, proves nothing. None of the modern 9mm combat pistols are inherently difficult to shoot or recoil excessively. You'll have to try another test, something more scientific, and take Fred Rogers and his cardigan sweater out of the equation. ;)
