Wonderful work, the orchard looks great!
We really appreciate all the info you share . Your figs look awesome
I just planted my Mary Lane fig I bought from you. It’s the third fig tree I have purchased from LDF. Super fast shipping, delivery and the trees look great with a strong root system!
Good to hear!
Good tour and taste review! I have to wait for next year due to LCE (life changing event). Sure do miss the figs 😢
Conaidria splits with rain and sours. It does make great Jam and you can flavor it with
Strawberry or Blackberry Jello . The fruits are large and plentiful .
I've had some sour, but never had any Conadrias split. My LSU Golds will split with too much water.
Making my mouth water Travis. I'm not going to make any figs this year, but I expect it will give me some next year. I have friends with figs and they love to share.
My Brown Turkey Fig tree planted last year at 6 inches tall is a 10 ft wide and 7 ft tall plant this year and it and a cutting from it made figs this year but not many because I`m still pruning it to the right shape. I wanted the limbs to branch so I pinched the tops just as fig production began. I`m hoping the new branches produce but who knows.
I would love to try this juice fruit fig. I am in N. FL 😊
Your fig orchard is looking great, ice review on flavor profiles. My GE nary is still not producing hopefully later this season maybe it will, and My conadria only produce three fix this year, I did prune a little bit this past fall. Just wondering if maybe it’s too hot down here for them. But will try to keep at it and see if I can get them to grow a little faster.
Love it. My mouth is watering ❤😂
My figs here in west Tennessee don't have fig 1 on them. They froze about 3 inches below ground level this last winter but have grown 4 or 5 feet high and wide but nothing yet.
Might try covering them this year or wrapping with pipe insulation to preserve some of that growth from this year.
Awesome!
Loved the video. Your collection has become quite impressive. Will you ever sell cuttings or just young trees?
Probably won't ever do cuttings. Some of the varieties we have can be really tricky to propagate, so I'd rather do it to ensure customer success.
I want some juicy fruit figs
Pruned excessively? Travis you were brutal to that poor tree, i must say it has come back with amazing vigor. I really thought you were trying to eliminate the poor thing, but you definitely gave it a new lease on life.
Gotta have faith! lol
Love your videos! Can you tell me how LSU tiger figs compare to Panache tiger stripe figs? I cant find Panache fig trees near me.
Never tried a panache tiger, so not sure how the taste compares. I can tell you that those green and yellow striped figs usually take a long time to ripen. Personally, I think LSU Tiger is probably a more reliable and earlier producer. Can't speak on the taste comparison, but LSU Tiger figs are really good!
Cool, I’ll check them out! thanks for responding! 🙌🏽
My LSU Hollier has powdery mildew. I’m going to try the baking soda spray but I might have to buy another one ☹️I want a tree that taste like strawberries! Please let us know if it’s true when it ripens🙂
Hey, have you tried pomegranates?
Have two trees in the front yard. They always split before ripening though.
We lost a very old fig tree to a bore disease. In north central Alabama, I need another tree or two? Any recommendations?
Regular Celeste & Brown Turkey are mainstays in the South but LSU has some new, stronger varieties like LSU Purple. Smith is good too and Olympian. LSU collected unique varieties in part from people like you and me initially. My family helped them with some fruit trees that had nice qualities.
@@baneverything5580Thank you for the advice.
When will you have more in stock?
Hopefully this fall.
Okay so which variety is your favorite?
Hard to say because there are so many.
How do you keep everything so free from weeds in-between the trees and also keep the grass from growing up onto the rows from the lawn?
We have to hand pull weeds in the straw all the time. But they get fewer and fewer each year. Between the rows, it's really about keeping the grass cut frequently and also using a weed-eater tilted on it's edge from time to time to burn back the grass and keep it from creeping.
@@LazyDogFarm Thank you for letting me know! I do about the same but I was hoping you had a better way I hadn't thought of lol. The type of grass I have just jumps on those rows so fast and aggressive, even if you mow all the time.
I have a brown turkey that I have had about 3 years. I have never gotten any fruit. What am I doing wrong?
Prune it, feed it, and water it well.
Will those mesh bags keep ants out of ripening figs too? I've got an ant problem for the first time this year.
Not sure. I bet they could crawl inside unless it was tied really tight.
1st in the comments. Whoop whoop! Lol
I think you need a better camera to show us the inside of figs. Love the content, just can't make out the up close shots of the figs.
It's hard to do with this summer light. We're shooting in 4k so plenty enough resolution, but tough when it's really bright outside and we can't always control the sun.
The cult of the fig....and a certain fertlizer...sad to see your channel turn into just commercials
Sad to see someone who believes all this can be done without "commercials."
