It’s amazing that a song released 42 years after Francois’s death fits him PERFECTLY; a beautiful man, inside and out, with untold potential, stolen from us much too soon. Rest in peace AND power, Champ.
Thank you so very much for this unforgettable F1 driver François Cevert. It's impossible to forget a person so happy and brilliant! Hugs from a Cevert's fan. Brazil, 05.04. 2023.
A glorious future stolen by an appalling lack of track safety. Cut in half by a guardrail. Utterly horrific. I was seven at the time & the brutality & senseless manner of his death still lives with me when I turn the key, feel tempted to pass when I'm not 100% sure, to press on a little bit faster or see those bloody rails still at the side of our country's roads. Au revoir Francois. Never forgotten.
@@Halad49 "Don't go...!" "It's a horrible scene...!" Jody Schekter to Jackie Stewart at Watkins Glenn when the scots wanted going to see what happened to François Cevert 😭 I was eleven years-old and I knew the bad news the following day on newspaper. Formula 1 races wasn't aired on my country's TV on 70's Greetings from Venezuela 🇻🇪
Jackie Stewart once said, Francois would be a world champion, He was that good, Such a sad loss to the world of motor racing, but most of all his family and loved ones.RIP young man .
It is always heartbreaking to see how this talented young man dead in F1 only because it was not invested enough in the safety of the pilots. Twenty years later Senna had to die before something changed . I’m sorry for this handsome and charismatic driver with an authentic emotional character who died so young. It makes me sad. RIP
There were rumours once of a movie to be made on the '73 F1 season, but it was probably shelved as they wouldn't have been able to find an actor as handsome and cool as Francois was. He would've been Champion in 1974, the Tyrrell 007 was a winning car. One of Formula One's greatest tragedies.
There were plans to make a movie about Francois, with Jackie Stewarts involvement in 2012. But for some bizarre reason the scriptwriters invented a storyline where Jackie Stewart's wife, Helen had an affair with Francois. Obviously, the Stewarts vetoed the plans and the movie was shelved.
@@lathspells1903 Absolutely asinine idea; Francois REVERED Jackie, and he couldn’t have been paid a billion dollars to betray him in ANY way. The Stewarts even considered Francois a member of their family, for God’s sake!
After researching, I concluded that possibly one of the factors that killed him was an overdose of painkillers. He had been injured in the Canadian contest when Scheckter collided with his Tyrrel, causing dislocations in his ankles and when Cevert threw a few punches at him, he hit him in his helmet, dislocating his wrists as well. He didn't want to stay in the hospital, he went for a short vacation with Jack Stewart and his wife and everything seemed fine. But he was possibly self-medicating with high doses of painkillers. Proof of this was that he vomited before qualifying and during the accident. He pretended he was fine and did a deadly combination with adrenaline and painkillers, which reduced his reflexes during the test... how sad. Perhaps he had even passed out because of the discomfort caused by the medicines.
@@murielle1703 I only learned about Cevert's story a few days ago, as I'm not from that era. I see that the accident that killed him was a combination of factors, including François' emotional state. That track was definitely a trap and the guardrails helped take his and Koinig's lives. He was an enthusiast, brilliant, full of charisma but because he had a warm presence, he attracted a lot of people to F1 and that same audience cried when they saw him leave like that. Who knows, maybe if he had put his feelings aside a little and accepted Ferrari's invitation... I was sad to see this video😢
Great memories of Le Prince of F1. Rest in Peace, François.

50 years after his death I still love him. He'll live forever in my heart. I'll never forget him. ❤
