I do have a little place where i receive guests ... and listening to your words aboutg the health cover .. made me remind that i was thinking the same until one of our guest actually fell down in the park , she got little bit distracted and give a bad step and fell few meters down a little hill .. now that was in the middle of the 2 hours walk and actually hurt herself badly ... good thing is that as she paid the insurance then 2 nurses came to look for her and took her on an ambulance to the closest * Centro de salud * then they took she and her friend back to the park and left her at the first beach canaveral and then few hours later put them on the main road . The girl didnt had to pay for any of the procedures that they did and she actually found very helpful to be rescued by the emergency team ... so who is gonna even imagine that accidents can happen ... :p so now im team insurance on the Tayrona Park
Thanks for the video. I’m flying to Santa Marta tomorrow and considered this national park. Looks like Costa Rica’s similar parks and much less hiking and bureaucracy. It’s a beach after all; not a life goal. Enjoyed the unadulterated views
I hope you have a great time!! I recommend taking the boat to the beach, or staying the night. That has been the general consensus from the comments. Thanks for watching & being a subscriber 💛
We just spent the most enjoyable day with the best tour guide on the hike to the beach! It is a rainforest so it is going to be muddy in some places. Our tour guide was so passionate about the beauty and very knowledgeable about the flora and fauna! We had lunch at one of the vendors near the beach, and enjoyed Piscina Beach before the hike back. It was a great adventure! I think the guide made all the difference! We loved it!
I think your complaints are valid but the move is to stay the night and take the boat back to Taganga the next day. Cabo San Juan has a very cool vibe later in the day when a good portion of the crowd heads out. Also your complaints about the ingress into the park aren't typical. Looks like you had some confusion but I had no issues like that. The insurance is if you happen to need medical care during your visit.
The insurance is something that is mandated by the government to all national parks. The insurance is like a medical insurance in case something happens to you such a coconut hit you, you got bit by an animal, you got a heart attack, etc... there are professionals there that can provide medical assistance. Yeah, I am sure the process is stupid and does not make any sense, but when we travel we have to adopt to other cultures and how people do things. In the USA we can be very spoiled. I am Colombian and grew up in the USA, and even moi can find myself being irritated when things don't function as smoothly, but that is part of the adventure of travel: adjusting to how others do things and to their culture. We have to be respectful (and I am not saying that the people doing this video are not) of wherever we go and realize we are in their territory and country, and we are the ones who need to adapt
Delfina, that is why you book an all inclusive tour. The tour company asks for a scan of your passport the day before (via Whatsapp), and they handle everything. They pick you up at your hotel/hostel and drop you back off at the end of the day. You don't need to be vaccinated or bring your passport, but I would recommend bringing a photo of it. It is the same price as taking a bus and paying for the entrance fees and insurance, without the hassle or waiting.
I met a guy that is from Tyrona and he told me that for him didn't make any sense to walk for 5 hours back and for just to find that is just the beach. You can stay at Tyrona beach area without going to Tyrona park. So you are right,I have not been there but I am not interested in making a long trip just to enjoy 2 hours of the beach. Thank you for sharing. Your video is very helpful.
The hike is the best part! Please go to Tayrona, stay the night if you can. It's wonderful. If you have any appreciation for nature and wildlife, this will be a wonderful experience. We saw countless lizzards, monkeys and fish in addition to beautiful, untouched jungle. We went through the Calabazo entrance, which is amazing for people who love to hike.
Just like everyone he was having a bad day. Sometimes when you’re traveling things can go wrong and it’s easy to get frustrated. We hope you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching & being a subscriber 💛
My friends and I are going this week, thank you so much for your honest opinions. Lol it's too late for us to back out but we're staying the night so hopefully it makes the experience better altogether.
We think you guys will have a great time if you're staying the night, everyone we talked to that stayed the night had a great experience! You'll have to let us know what you think. Thanks for watching and being a subscriber 💛
Just sharing our honest opinions. In the video we highlight the good and the bad, so you can make your own decision. We'd never want to lead people astray on a location. Thanks for watching!!
You complain about people you perceive to be complain who actually aren't complaining but rather giving an honest review which many of us appreciate. Great vid, guys!
Really, if you are a traveler and complain about everything , especially about people, logístic, etc and don't want to spend money (22 dollars a boat ride is not too much money, you are traveling). Your tickets to colombia from USA were expensive? You could walk instead of flying and complaint. You are going to a tropical forest (jungle) and complaint about being hot and humid. You complaint about the long hike just to get to the beach (there are horses and motorcycle service there you could take) In brief, you want to be a backpacker travelers with a luxury previleges. The only valid complaint is the issue at the entrance with the nonsense back and forth. In my opinion, this is a good video explaining before you go you must decide what type of adventure trip you want to experience. Thanks
I personally appreciate the unadulterated photos and videos. It makes it easier for me to form an idea ore nether or not I want to go, compared to picture perfect google image photos.
Exactly!! Don't get me wrong, it's still stunning, but it's not exactly what you see on Google. I hope you enjoyed the video, thanks for watching & being a subscriber 💛
I appreciate this video so much!!!! I’m trying to plan my december trip to colombia and have researching all these different beaches in the cartagena, baranquilla, santa marta and tayrona área. Were there any “hidden” beaches you guys liked? Or even discovered beaches that were really nice??
Thank you so much. The beaches in Tayrona are gorgeous, but just a lot of people. Once we left we spoke with someone who said that just past Cabo San Juan beach in Tayrona there's a huge beautiful beach that is usually empty. I believe its called Boca de Saco (not the nudist one, but near it), we never made it over there. We've heard great things about the islands near Cartagena, but unfortunately we didn't have time to get out to them. Santa Marta didn't have any great beaches and we've heard that baranquilla isn't worth the visit unless for festivals. In santa marta we had an apartment airbnb that had a pool on the roof and it was so nice to go swim and hang out up there since there wasn't a nice beach near town. Sorry that was a lot, but hopefully helpful, let us know if you have any other questions. Thanks for watching and being a subscriber ♥️
Jessica; the first beach in their video is Arecife; which is too dangerous to swim in. If you are going on a day trip, 90 minutes into the hike you will arrive at La Piscina; which is beautiful in its own right. 30 minutes later you are at Cabo San Juan, which is incredible. For the other amazing beaches (Playa Cristal, Bahia Concha, Nenguenge, Playa Brava, Playa Chengue), you can access them one at a time on very inexpensive day trips from Rodadero.
We want to visit in June. From this video it looks like we are going to want to spend the night. Do you know that price? What kinda wildlife did u see? Is there more hiking trails to secluded beaches or jungle areas?
We definitely recommend you stay the night!! There are a bunch of other hiking trails to more secluded beaches that are close to the campground. I don't know what the prices are, sorry. We saw monkeys, birds, crabs, and little rodents. Hope this helps!! Thanks for watching & being a subscriber 💛
Huskie, the ecohabs are very expensive. The way to do it is to hike to Cabo San Juan, and either stay in a hammock or a tent along the beach. Both are very inexpensive.
Whatever the guy in the video is so low energy . Complete annoying , how this nice gird travel with a guy like that he acts like a little spoiled boy . Love the gird I kinda off sorry for her traveling with him
I think we all have bad days and this happened to be one of his. It can be difficult when you're always traveling and sometimes there are frustrations. Aside from that I hope you enjoyed the video. Thanks for watching & being a subscriber. P.s. he's no longer my travel partner so maybe he's happier now ha
I knew you were screwed in the first couple of minutes of the video. First, go in February or March, when it isn't rainy season. Second, book a tour. It will be $25-30 USD all inclusive. The day before you send a scan of your passport to the tour company; early morning you are picked up at your hotel in a bus and dropped off at the main entrance. You wait at the restaurant for 20 minutes or so while the tour company retrieves your tickets (no vaccinations needed and they deal with all of the insurance and other stuff) and you are off on your hike. It shouldn't take you more than 2 hours, so by 10:30am you are at Cabo San Juan, and you can relax until around 2pm. IF you don't feel like hiking the entire way back, you can take a horse 2/3 of the way for around $12 USD. The bus then drops you off back at your hotel. I've done the math and it costs exactly the same to go on your own as it does through a tour. Your experience would have been infinitely better; Tayrona is universally considered to be amazing for a reason...
I was there about 8 years ago. Not many people. I guess it’s been discovered. Playa Blanca was much more cool. Spend a few nights there. All the people go back to Cartagena at the end of the day. you than have the place to yourself.
Ahh bummer I wish we would've known about that before. Next time we'll definitely check out Playa Blanca!! Thanks for watching and being a subscriber 💛
We always want to share our authentic experience with our community. While we acknowledge that some parts in the video are negative it was our genuine experience. If you continue watching we explain why we felt Tayrona was not worth it for a day trip. We appreciate your feedback!!
I would highly recommend running shoes; unless they are very expensive. There are very few slippery areas, but it is a 2 hour hike each way and your feet are going to be sore from rocks, the ground, twigs as well as walking 4 hours in them. Hiking boots or special footwear isn't needed.
Why do you complain too much? Being honest is not with prepotency and derogation with a place or system that is hosting you. If you go to this beautiful place and complain like that, do not go. You could have an accurate idea if you were more educated and studied basic Spanish to comprehend the situation; you may present better information, so other people are informed. If you go to any place, try to learn some essential cultural awareness beforehand. You infered various fallacies in this video. We apologize for coming across as superior, this was not our intent in any way, shape, or form. We like to share the reality of every location with our viewers and the comments we made throughout the video are our honest opinions. We spent 3 months in Colombia and loved it, especially the people and their culture. We hope you have a great day!!
You complain a lot! And I’m sure many people and blogs inform you before, that on day was though to do it and go back the same day. It’s good to show the good and bad things but complain the whole time, the weather, the walk, the, the the… etc
