  • Staying in a beach hut on Playa Brava in Tayrona National Park was the highlight of our time in Colombia! Playa Brava is a lesser-known beach in Tayrona National Park, making it the BEST place to stay the night! There is just one company you can book a beach hut with, and they are called Ecolodge Playa Brava Teyumakke. Luckily, you can book these accommodations online which is very unusual for Tayrona as most of the accommodations in other beaches like Cabo San Juan are first come first served.
After a few hours hiking through the jungle, we arrived at Playa Brava to check in for our night in our beach hut. Playa Brava is a gorgeous beach, made even more beautiful by how few people visit it! If you are visiting Playa Brava, we highly recommend spending at least one night because it is quite a journey to get to. If you do not have the time to spend a night inside Tayrona National Park, we would suggest visiting Cabo San Juan instead of Playa Brava. It is much busier, but it is easier to access which makes it a much better choice if you are visiting Tayrona National Park on a day trip.
In this video we show you a tour of our beach hut on Playa Brava and enjoy an incredibly relaxing couple of hours on our nearly-private beach. And then on day 2 we started our hike to Cabo San Juan to see Tayrona National Park's most famous beach! As you can see in the video, this beach is absolutely stunning. It is much more commercialized and busier than Playa Brava (which is why we chose to book a beach hut on Playa Brava and not Cabo San Juan), but the area is truly picture-perfect and absolutely worth a visit!
We hope you enjoy watching our stay on Playa Brava in Tayrona National Park as much as we enjoyed experiencing it! If you are headed to Colombia soon, we cannot recommend this beach hut stay more highly. Our only regret is not staying for two nights!

I need a video on how you find these places AND what is your thought process on where you go next, and why? I've never heard of some of these places you visit. Im jealous!

That would be a really fun video to make, thank you for the idea! We will keep that in our back pocket. It may make for a great topic to share with you on an upcoming travel day or something like that. Although we don't have any fancy secrets to share, just lots of research, recommendations from our wonderful UA-cam and Instagram communities, and of course other UA-camrs!

I’m watching this from outside the park, planning what beaches to see when I go inside in two days time so this was very valuable information for me - playa Brava looks stunning!

So helpful to see the playa brava section. I’m doing a similar trip.
Two questions - if you had two nights, would you spend both days in Playa Bravo?
My other question is, at Cabo San Juan, is there a place to put your bag to go swimming? I’m going solo and worried my stuff is gonna get stolen.
Thanks for the content, such an informative and fun video.

Hey Joe, it's great to hear you found the video thankful! I think if we had a second night we would have wanted to spend it at Playa Bravo. That way you can break up the walk out and make 2 short days instead of the 1 longer one we had which meant we didn't have a lot of time to enjoy Cabo San Juan. We aren't sure if there is anywhere to store your things at Cabo San Juan, but I have a feeling if you stay there for one night you might have a way to store some things! I'm sorry we can't be more help, but hope you have an incredible time there! It's such an amazing spot

Unfortunately we didn’t notice any but they had a few cabanas and they were different sizes so it’s very possible. We suggest looking them up on booking .com

Nice vid... just a note... is not safe to swim in Playa Brava due to the strong tide, in fact tourists had drown there (u probably didn't notice, but allways was a red flag waving in the beach)... I tecomend to visit and enjoy Playa Brava, but no to swim on it.
