  • Today I have another new video of the 1986 Kenmore 70 Series Heavy Duty Plus washer. Today’s load consisted of about 8 curtains, and I used the original Dual Action agitator. I plan to remake this video sometime in the future with the other agitators to see the differences in performance. I hope you all enjoy, and if you have any questions or comments, feel free to leave them below!
    Cycle Selections: Warm/Warm - 10 minute wash
    Detergent: Gain “Moonlight Breeze”

    That washer is adorable especially when it makes those woo woo sounds.

    OK I have never washed curtains on a normal cycle usually a delicate cycle with Woolite not a strong detergent.
    But I do love this machine and all the fabulous sounds it makes can’t beat those old belt drives.

    That was a lot of fun, and I’m glad I was finally able to make it. I almost couldn’t because my mom was using the computer, but I figured out how to find my channel from my tablet and then your video with the chat replay. As always, your machine did a great job with the laundry, and it was nice to see the dual action agitator back in there too. I’m currently coming right from a minor cold, but I got my whole family sick, so I might hold off from posting this weeks video for a little bit. As always, great video!

    My Mamaw, and Papaw had a washer that looked just like that. I believe it had a part replaced because the spin cycle sounded pretty loud at one point.

    Good vid, have the same exact washer 1984 I think. The spin went out recently and I changed the wig wag solenoid assy. The timer I think was the culprit and it actually bent one of the wig wag solenoid shoes. The stem was bent and it was jumping out of the wig wag slot. Timer/belt, wigwag solenoids it now runs like a champ again, should be good for another 20 or so years hopefully.

    So different from the Maytags (which is what I’m used to), but another great example of a vintage machine in its own right.

    This machine sound like it's going "Rare rare rare rare rare rare rare rare rare" rather than "woo woo woo woo woo woo woo woo" in person. I use to have one like this over 20 years ago before it died. :(

      It’s possible your belt is old and needs replaced, or isn’t tensioned correctly. I would check something like that if you can, before you get rid of it. They’re really great machines for sure

    Hey there 👋🏻 does this washer fill from the bottom or from all around the top opening? Is this how they were early on?

    • @DrummerboysWashersAndMore
      @DrummerboysWashersAndMore  2 роки тому

      It actually fills from the top towards the back. The way the fill flume is designed, it sprays most of the water down towards the back of the tub, but sprays a small amount towards the front right of the machine. You may be able to see it a little better in the video that I have coming out tonight.

    How long have you been interested in vintage washers?

    • @DrummerboysWashersAndMore
      @DrummerboysWashersAndMore  2 роки тому

      I bought this one as my first one about 5 years ago for $20. That was when I first thought about getting more, but before that I was just generally interested in them pretty much as long as I remember.

    Hey, Drummerboy, any of the Washers you have that has the Extra Rinse Option, can I request to see some Cycles on those Washers with Extra Rinse turned on to see their performances?
    The performances vary on the Machines & the Cycles, especially as some Cycles would do the Full/Spray Rinse Combination, which I happen to like a lot, when Extra Rinse is turned on, where 1 Rinse is the Full Deep Rinse, while the other Rinse is the Spray Rinse, like what it does on the Normal Cycle on Game 5000’s Maytag MVWC565FW0 for example, when 2 Rinses or 2 Rinses with Softener are selected.

    • @DrummerboysWashersAndMore
      @DrummerboysWashersAndMore  2 роки тому +1

      Sure! I have a couple machines that do have extra rinse so I could run a few cycles with extra rinse enabled. I believe the Catalyst is the only one in the garage with extra rinse, but both of the Amana machines have extra rinse options.
