Fuse number 22 is NOT for the wipers its for the windscreen washers! The fuse for the Wipers in located in the engine compartment and its fuse number 8.. i took it out and started the car without the fuse. a warning came up on the dash that the wipers were now not working. i put the fuse back in and everything worked fine! just to note the wipers will not work with the bonnet up!
    ( that caught me out!!)

I have the same issue on VW Polo 2014. tried contact cleaner and Fuse tricks before. was thinking of giving up and then watched your video. Polo has seperate fuses for front and back wipers. İ only disconnected the front fuse now its tiem to try both ends! fingers crossed

Thanks. Didn't fix it. I think it must be a dirty switch. The OFF position is still giving a quite frequent intermittent wipe, whereas the INT position can be controlled by the switch for frequency. I've sprayed it with WD40 through the little hole, wiggled the switches around and I will hope for the best. Looking good so far.....
Fuse 22 seems to be the washer motor (plus a signal to wipe the screen once/twice?)
Fuse 8 in the engine compartment 30A is the power for the wipers. Taking out both fuses and even the battery didn't reset anything. No faults on the ECU either. The only fault message I get is when I take out fuse 8 and it says there is a wiper fault on the dashboard screen. This is the fuse I will take out again if I can't stop my (intermittent) wipers when it's not raining.

Did you manage to fix it? I have the same problem but I don t even have a fuse 22, just the fuse 8 in the engine compartment

I tried this and it didn’t work, after trying fuse 22 there was no change. I tried taking out fuse 8 from the engine block which stopped everything but when I replaced it - nothing worked except the rear wiper🥴 I disconnected the bty and re connected it, still no front wiper at all. After a while I re tried and the wipers worked but wouldn’t stop. Then I remembered you had tried switch cleaner in through the tiny slit, i put a good spray in through there, at first they still didn’t stop but after a short wait and working the switch arm its full travel a few times they suddenly stopped when in the off position. It seems to be working now - 😰 phew.

I had this exact fault on my 2015 Fabia. Having watched this video, and with no contact cleaner to hand I tried just removing and the putting the suggested fuse back in place. This didn't work. So I fetched some contact cleaner and sprayed that in as suggested and it appears well now. So I think its the contact cleaner that fixes it but a very useful video as I wouldn't have thought to look for the little gap to spray it through had I not watched this video, so very helpfulke thanks.

It's easier to disconnect the battery for a few seconds. This worked for a few days then recurred. So it needs a new switch or a switch clean.

Can't wait to try this. I had a whole new stalk fitted 4 months ago and the exact same problem is back. The garage is telling me now that I need a new wiper motor. I have my doubts.

No. This fuse reset fixed it for me. No contact cleaner involved. Stop guessing if you don't know.
